  • WTF 😊

  • you know the pilot? The old flightcentre dude? wow, is he nice?

    • Apparently he is actually a Captain with Tiger Airways, well was a few years back at least.

  • No Love for Darwin?

Just my usual note for the noobs:

You could fly from Sydney to the Gold Coast on Tiger next week for only $49 on Tuesday and Wednesday (it's too late to pay $44.10 from a Jetstar price match). Even Jetstar flights are available for $55. To top it off, this "sale" price in winter mostly applies to Tuesdays anyway so don't think you'll be having a short weekend away.

So you can enjoy the balmy weather and extreme wet weather without the wait.

    • Thanks for the info. So can you get these prices throughout the year regularly or do prices next week happen to be on sale as well?

      • From my experience with Sydney to the Gold Coast in particular it's all year except big events and school and/or public holidays (plus a buffer either side for early leavers or late returners). This only applies for Tuesday, Wednesday and oftentimes Thursday.

You'll probably see similar patterns for Melbourne Avalon and Ballina. Other routes are hit and miss during the warmer months. Winter is the best time for the tropical destinations but summer is always expensive from my experience.

        • Thanks mate! Much appreciated.

        • @leeson865: No worries.

Although I missed it myself yesterday, the Tiger sale had prices actually worth jumping on - especially if paying to fly a family in off-season (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/297761). e.g. Melbourne to Perth $49. These deals have very limited seats though so you have to act fast.

Today IWTF posted a much better deal to New Zealand (especially for Melburnians).

  • What about Brisbane? smh
