Second sim slot is only 2G though

    • +3

If you only using second sim to make phone calls would it matter? I'm asking cos I dunno.

      • +8

        Telstra 2g: gone
        Optus 2g: Gone soon
        VOda 2g: Gone next year.

      • Much better to use the second SIM for SD card, if possible.

I have a OnePlus 3 (A3003). Can confirm 2nd SIM is 3g/4g. Also, lack of Band 28 has not been a problem for me and I've never been out of reception. Though I rarely travel to rural areas. My 1st SIM is Optus and my 2nd is Telstra. The phone is fantastic and I highly recommend it - the OS for me is one of its greatest features. Very close to vanilla Android without being a Nexus or Pixel. Also, it's on Nougat. I have heard their customer service is poor though if you need to use it (I haven't yet - going on 8 months of use).

        • That would be awesome. Would the A3010 model be the same? There are places saying the only difference between the 2 is the OS but not too sure.

          @cheapskateasianchic:

No difference between A3003 and A3010 if you're just using in Aus
The difference (different bands) will only affect you if you're travelling to Europe etc

        • @cheapskateasianchic: From off the top of my head, differences are: CPU (821 Snapdragon instead of 820) - basically more efficient; Front facing camera (now 16mpx); colour of unit (is a bit darker); 3400mah battery (400mah bigger than O+3 - this coupled with the more efficient CPU equates to about 30% more battery life); sapphire over the back camera lens instead of glass;
From my understanding everything else is the same. Oh and I think by default the O+3t uses the F2FS file format (if not just reformat as soon as you get nougat) - which is even faster than ext4 (I can switch but i'd have to reformat). Google is your friend - but not mine evidently…. -_-

Have A3010 (same model) and can confirm 4G/3G - not sure where you're getting where 2nd SIM is 2G only
Confirmed multiple times online (here and on Whirlpool)

Just read 7.1.1 is being rolled out in Canada
Loving the dash charge and close to vanilla Android experience

        • The dicksmith description. Because I read elsewhere that it supports 4G/3G but the description says otherwise so didn't know which one was true.

    • Are you sure? Isn't Snapdragon 821 support dual 4G/3G?

    • +1

I wish there was an option to refine searches for phones with B28 and exclude 2G

  • This or the S7 for $550.39?

    • -1

I think getting the S7 on the optus deal for $49/month is a better deal but I prefer the Oneplus 3T over the samsung s7 so I went with this deal ><. Main reason was battery life and the closer to vanilla experience.

    • This, double the internal storage

      • Oh, yes that too was one of the main factor for me haha

    • Do you value band 28? If you are Telstra or Optus then I wouldn't consider most of these chinese imports as majority don't support band 28.

  • Considering the OnePlus 5 is due this year i wouldn't spend that much on it.

    • But how much would that cost?

    • Oneplus 4?

      • wondering same thing, maybe because they're chinese and dont like the number 4

        • Garmin did the same thing with their Fenix watches.

Skipped the Fenix 4 (something related to pronunciation) due to wealthy Chinese people buying them in droves…

          Weird times.

      • Believed to be unlucky number, there won't be a opo4

        • +4

Oneplus 4 in Chinese is literally 'Whole Family Dies'.

        • @Ragnarok1983:

Wow, didn't think it's that bad

  • It would need to be the 128GB version for the price to raise my brow!

  • +3

I'm surprised no one has mentioned missing band 28.

    4G Network (MHz)
    LTE Band 1/3/5/7/8/38/39/40/41

Usually the first thing mentioned on the sub $200 Chinese phone deals. lol

    • I know people mention Telstra B28 a lot of time or rather almost every time. Is there a way to check which Band are you connected. I have got phones with and also without B28 and I can't notice the difference, even a lot of places out of the city as well.
The reason to know that is to determine if there is a benefit of buying a phone with B28. Theoretically there will be benefit, but is there practically a benefit.

  • +2

Note that this is the A3010 Chinese version. That means the packaging has been opened and the phone is flashed to international firmware.

    • Different bunch then the people touching your phone before boxing

  • Guys, can you guys confirm whether the 2nd Sim support 3G?
I need to confirm this before buying.
    Thanks in advance.

    • Previous replies form mightyhawks23 and matris suggests it supports 3g/4g.

  • Does this support Band 5 850Mhz?

    • I believe it does. you can check it with ur service provider at willmyphonework.net

  • How are people going with delivery? Mine was ordered late Friday 17th March. Midday Sunday 26th arrived in VIC and hasn't updated yet (Midday Wed 29th - coming to Perth CBD).

    • +1

      Received mine last monday

      • Monday the 20th? 3 days after the deal was posted (and order placed)? Nice, maybe you got one of the few stock items that were already in Australia.
