$1 Medium Sized Snickers and Mars Bars at Franklins

43

Bounty too!

Not sure how long this goes for, but I put a week to be safe.

Check the photo to see what else there is on sale. I didnt make a note of all the difference confectionery and prices.

If this is a dupe, then something is wrong with the search system when you look for "franklins" and tick "not expired"! (Just covering myself since the last few times I've posted its been listed as a dupe)

not a bargain mate, coles and wooltworths have this deal every 2nd week. At the moment in coles there are nestle bars (kit kats ect..) for $1.00, last week at coles Mars bars (all varieties + snickers ect…) were $0.89. This is a ok price but no bargain.

      Yeah, nothing special about this.

    They should always be $1.

    84c at Woolies from Monday

Now that's kinda a bargain, but even then it's still cheaper to buy the bags when they're on sale… nothing good about $1 for a bar!!

  • Franklins?

    • they are Sydney based

      • now owned by Metcash

        • Not quite yet, but likely will be in a couple of months. And then they'll disappear… :-(

        • oh I thought they were owned by Woolies not too long ago
didn't know it was Sydney based.
They're not as cheap as they used to be though, which sucks.

For sure!. Unreal that they are between $1.50 - $2 regular price. Guess someone must be buying them at that rip off price.

Remember being in the States a couple of years ago and picked up 3 x Three Musketeers (kinda like a Picnic) for 99 cents from a Servo, Awesome!

    Same is Japan.
All the regular chokkie bars are Y100

They should be $1 all the time.

I think the bastards were desperate to get past the $1 price barrier and went too far in their greed. They went too far though, so they are discounted to the 'real' price every second week.
I bet their sales chart goes up and down like a bride's nightie.

    • 1 Australian dollar can get an average of 80 yen.

      • Similarly 1 USD = $1.15 - $1.20 lately. More a psychological price point - but ours is lower than the two others being compared.

        • Australia seems to have been conditioned by the same mechanisms to expect to pay $2+ for a single soft drink more $3-4 even for those "buddy" bottles.
Really nuts when the 1.25 liter ones are always on spec for $1.
Oh and in Japan? Vending machines everywhere doing hot and cold cans for Y100/Y110

The chocolate one just sh1ts me though.
I only by them if they are ~$1

          • @King Tightarse: Yeh I just won't pay $3-4 for a buddy sized bottle. I never get a (cold) drink with my takeaway food :P

Back on topic: Yeh those chocolate bars are always on "special" for $1. I guess that is a reliable way of getting people to buy them. People always buy non-essential things when they are on special :P

        • Actually Rod71 got 3 bars for 0.99 USD, which makes it 0.33 USD a bar :)

Negs over 15c an item. How pathetic, point out the obvious about the cheaper bars, but over 15c? How embarrassing

  • This deal is in reality 89c with a Franklins Loyalty Card basically. So the difference is 5c between the deals.

Coles woolies etc have bars on promo most the time as they use them as a loss leader. They actually lose money on the products whilst they are below 95c or so but they get customers to come in and while they are there they usually pick up 6 or 7 other things which they hadn't planned and that is where they make their margins, and some, back. Confectionery is often used as it's not an essential but when it's perceived to be so cheap people are more likely to consider the purchase. But yes ur right, sales graphs are quite like a rollercoaster.

franklins is the best supermarket, way better than coles. but i must say the new coles stores are very upmarket. $1 for a bar is not that good, rather buy them in the bag on special or even a block of chocolate.
