  • Naaahh it is still expensive after that. It is me or Kathmandu has raised the prices?

    • Their RRP was always ridiculous, but I noticed they jack up the prices when they have a "sale", meaning, a more % off than the usual 30-40%.

      • I can't fathom why people feel the need to buy overpriced, made in third world sweatshop "traveller clothes" simply because they have a few extra pockets or dry quickly. Want clothes for travelling that you don't care about wrecking or chucking out? Go to an op shop and get yourself a bunch of cotton long sleeve shirts etc. Not to mention that clomping around in hiking boots and a legionairres cap makes you an instant target for touts, pickpockets & other various ripoff merchants. Some of the gadgets they sell might be handy but, simply put, buying clothing from the likes of Kathmandu or Paddy Palin etc is a complete waste of money.

        • Rivers is my choice, to be honest… Best value

        • @mazorn:

At least that way you look poor & with any luck the beggars et al will leave you alone…

        • Merino is fantastic day/night in both hot and cold climates, it makes perfect travel wear for most places, it does not need to be washed daily, when you do wash it it's quick to dry and it's comfortable.
Sometimes you can find merino gear at Target, Myer and infrequently at Dimmies and some on Ebay or AliExpress but most often you have to buy it at the shops you mentioned.

When traveling in hot humid countries, cotton shirts and tshirts will be wet with sweat within moments and you'll look equally like a tourist, some of the newer wicking tech-fabrics from the shops mentioned are a really good choice because you'll actually look fresh and feel more comfortable in that sort of climate. Sometimes gear from Kmart/Target is similar but it's usually sports gear and not always suitable to wear in some more conservative places.
