Link is not working for me

Also it seems the A7RII body is cheaper at many other Australian online retailers.
    $3,299 eBay
    $3,167 T-dimension
    $3,339 DWI Digital Cam

I have not ordered from any of these stores, what is the difference?

None of the ones you listed are local warranty products or have GST included. Also most of those shops are based in HK.
These shops dont always have a good reputation :)

Not a good idea to blow $3k on an electronic with no warranty.

  • Its ok, wouldnt say a bargain though. Some of this stuff has been cheaper elsewhere, Sony A6000 kit is cheaper at Harvey Norman by $10 for example.
    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/sony-a6000-mirrorless-camera-…

That being said, $450 for the Sony 35mm 1.8 OSS lens aint bad.

    • Not really. Just get a canon fd lens for like $50 and a $13 adapter. Awsome glass, superb image quality and saves $$$$.

Thats what i have on my a7.

Sony makes a killing on their overpriced lenses.

Bad advice and a big generalisation.

First what old glass works on an A7 probably will not give optimum results on the high res A7RII sensor. The newer II series are much more sensitive to what glass you put in front of them.

Second no autofocus, show me the images of kids running around caught with a manual focus lens.

Third which FD lens? what a 50mm, try using long FD lenses and see how you go.

Fourth most if not all Cheap Chinese made adapters are decentered or do not give perfect infinity focus even worst the cheap soft metals and surface finishes slowly drop bits onto your sensor and into the shutter.

Fifth these lenses are so old you never know who has pulled them apart and cleaned them only to not reassemble them and collimate them correctly.

Horses for courses mate but your experience does not work for all of us.

        • Lol. Talk about making generalisations! And learning to manual focus. Its not that hard and i have no trouble focusing on action.

I didnt say buy any old lens. Do your homework. Glass is glass. There is very high quality glass around that is 50 + years old.

You do realise people actually took great photos with manual cameras for a long time??

Photography is not just lots of megapixels. Its a lot of skill. I hope you are not one of the people that spend thousands of dollars on the a7r2 and lenses and think it will magically make better photos :)

        • @Hoobi:

Oh gee darn I thought the A7RII would make me an awesome photographer :)

Nope don't believe in fairy dust or unicorns I use a Nikkormat EL with a 50mm 1.4 lens for fun and a Leica M2 also but it's not for everyone before I retrained as a dog trainer I was a pro photographer for 30 years and still take photos on both film and digital.

So in a past life I shot action once upon a time on a Linhof Technika 45 for newspapers but it was hit or miss, or even sports events with a Canon EOS IV yet out of each roll of 36 exposures 30 would be binned. I still feel the editors rath for the crap shots submitted.

Yes it is all about skill but not everyone has the skills needed. Years ago we had hardly any workshops for photographers now they are a dime a dozen that speaks for itself.

But while I agree 100% with you about the megapixels, lets face it digital and autofocus and the resolution race are here to stay.

I just ask the question… would you go back to a CRT computer screen or analog TV no unlikely. Nor would most folks while your advice is cool for a select group it is not for the average photographer.

    • We're $3 cheaper if you factor in free shipping! But agreed, $3 cheaper than HN is not really something to write home about :(
Selling photography hardware is a really tough business!

This is ozbargin. Stop whining and post some real bargains or dont bother. Several people have already posted much better prices than you!

  • +1

No real bargins here OP. The A7 has been below $900 several times (aus stock). These are mostly just ordinary prices.

    • We're pretty good on price right now. It may not be the lowest price ever, but for example, on the a7 we're the cheapest out of all genuine AU retailers that I can find, and that is before factoring in the free shipping.

On the A7R II we are at least $300 better than any other authorised AU retailer.

  • Nothing cheaper than before…

  • Thanks OP. I have been looking out for a deal since Oct. last year on the a6300. Of course, the longer you wait, the cheaper they will become, but then you run the risk of them becoming obsolete - how long do you wait?! I decided it was time to splurge. Good price on the a6300 + kit lens, better deal on the kit lens bundle vs grey import even though I don't need the lens.
