MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Directx 12 GTX 1080 Gaming 8GB $710.50 Shipped @Newegg

60

Found this in my email. $669 + $41.50 shipping adds up to $710

I would buy this except for the horrendous cost of g-sync monitors.

  • Omg I feel like I am seeing so many gpu cards lately because I want to get a new one.
I feel like there is so much pressure!!!!!

I just went out and upgraded to an RX 480 from a HD 7850. I don't play games much, so it doesn't really matter to me. Vega may be worth waiting for if you want highend; buying an Nvidia card will end up being a lot more $$$ due to G-sync. I actually bought a GTX 1080 and cancelled the order because I couldn't justify spending (near) 1k for a graphics card + waterblock.

Just buy what suits you. Even though I can afford it, and 10+TFLOPS of computing power sounds appealing, I don't really need it.

So you cancelled the 1080 and got a much less powerful video card?

What's wrong with that? There's nothing wrong with buying a cheaper graphics card, especially if I can't justify paying $600+ for one.

The GTX 1080 is not for everybody.

      • which rx 480 and where did you buy it from? price?

        • I bought the visiontek 8gb reference version off Amazon for $290 shipped. I believe I bought the last one in stock. There is also the xfx Rx 480 8gb reference from Amazon which comes in at $330 shipped but with a backplate.

      • I game and I want an 1440p monitor so I'm gonna need an good gpu.
Rx480 would work out cheaper even if I bought 2 and connected them with cross fire but then I was reading that some games are not actually supported by this and it can cause more problems.

Better to get something like this card for 1440p gaming with 144hz monitor and with the potential to upgrade to 4K.

As you said if you're not much of an gamer no point in getting one of these.

        • If you're 1440p, a gtx 1070/1080 is your best bet at this point, especially with the dropping prices. The RX 480 is good for 1440P if you don't game often/heavily.

    Still cheaper from Amazon.fr https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B01GELBO1C
Works out to be around $664 delivered

    • How do u stop it from charging vat?

      • Just go through the checkout process and it will disappear.

  • Guess msi australia won't support it will they?

    • Nope. If you want a international warrenty you will have to go with EVGA. which is cheaper anyway.
EVGA 1080 FTW which comes to about $705 delivered or you can go for the SC model thats the same price or the reference / blower style which is abit cheaper.

  • The Gaming X version (1 step better) is only 690 AUD shipped from Amazon.fr

This is with the shitty currency converter that they have.
