who on earth would pay the original 89 + shipping?

You can find cheaper certified MFI cables on ebay than what's advertised here even with the "discount"

I couldn't find any of this length that were MFI certified cheaper on ebay, aliexpress or anywhere else. Of course the original price is a rip off. Got a link of something cheaper?

      • Just found this
        3x $11.90 = $35.70
AICase is in the MFI program

        • i bought a few of these 1m ones, still working well.

        • @kza2610: i find the AIcase cables to be odd. They don't give the no charging error associated with fake cables but these are hopeleess on our two ipads as achieve about 25% charge overnight. On iphone a full charge is acheived relatively quickly. Mine were not purchased from ebay.

        • Good find. Your search skills are better than mine.

        • @Markusaus: iPads need higher amperage. Cables suitable for iPhone may not be able to maintain the amperage required for an iPad. The iPad won't give an error as its technically receiving charge, but its so little as to be ineffective.

        • @Markusaus: yes! My mum says her ipad charges really slow with it, maybe higher than 25% overnight. Weird thing is that it charges fast with my xiaomi powerbank so i didnt know what the problem was. But still beats paying $20-30 for 1 cable tho. My original apple is fraying like a mofo

        • @adam: Thanks for your kind words ;)

    Corey Doctorow is derp.

    • Thanks for the tip.
This place is trash tabloid. Any money they make goes to that kind of journalism.

"Cory Efram Doctorow is a Canadian-British blogger, journalist, and science fiction author who serves as co-editor of the blog Boing Boing"

Cheaper elsewhere but 3x 3m for $39 with free shipping is standard price at Dick Smiths, goes on sale regularly too.

DS/Kogan 3m cables are excellent with fast charging of my iPad. All 3 have been trouble free with constant use for the last 12 months. Cable is large diameter and has a quality feel to it!

  • MFi-Certified should assure the quality of the cable

I thought MFi meant they used a genuine Apple chip. Do the also certify the quality of the cable?

    • Correct - MFi is a compatibility spec, not a quality assurance.
