  • Did you just re-post the same 'deal' that got removed from the site?

    • +4

The first deal was removed as simply mentioned the Officeworks pricebeat price. I think the OP has reformatted the deal to comply with posting guidelines.

      • Ah right. Just saw almost the same heading on the first page

    How does a $1200 phone in 2017 have a 750p screen?

    • +10

      It's Apple - their $4000 MacBook has a 720p webcam.

        it gets worse…

4.7-inch (diagonal) Retina HD display with 1334-by-750 resolution and wide colour

        How is 750p 'retina'?

if you had sub HD retinas in your eyes you'd be declared legally blind!

        • I think Retina Display is based on how many pixels per inch. Steve Jobs said the number of pixels needed for a Retina Display is about 300 PPI for a device held 10 to 12 inches from the eye. iPhone 7 is about 326ppi.

    • It's just how Apple works. Let the competition release all the new hardware innovations. Then use the hardware after all the bugs and quality issues with any new tech is resolved.

      • Huh? Screens with a higher res have no bugs or quality issues. They have been a standard in even mid priced android phones for years now.

    • Does resolution matter? I'd prefer a larger memory storage at a lower price.

No other colours or plus models?

    • You can try Mobicity and price match with Officeworks.
      https://www.mobileciti.com.au/apple-iphone-7-plus-128gb-jet-… Mobicity:$1325.00/Officeworks: $1399.00
      https://www.mobileciti.com.au/apple-iphone-7-256gb-black Mobicity: $1249.00/Officeworks: $1348.00
A few models available cheaper on Mobicity as compared to Officeworks. I tried to pricematch on phone with Officeworks but they were not very helpful. On phone, Officeworks advised me to pay the full price online first then call them again to get the 5% price difference. Then I went into store, showed them the price on mobile, all sorted out on spot. But they included the delivery cost as well for price match guarantee, because iPhone was not available in stock at other local stores.

    • Just because items are made in China, they cannot be expensive? So racist ;p

Dude flippin everything is Made in China! Not everything in China is cheap when quality control entails certain products

Would you like to point to a phone which isn't made in China?

I am a tight ass and looking at the price of this phone makes me angry.
they should be arrested for making this much profit off us.

    • +1

Last time I looked, nobody had a gun held to their head forcing them to buy an iPhone.

    • Many in the industry are losing money on their mobile divisions so it's hard to know what constitutes a 'fair' price. iPhones aren't cheap, but they must offer value or people wouldn't buy them. The biggest risk in buying a modern device is the company folding or cutting off future software support, and Apple compares pretty favourably here.

Still I recommend the Plus model for the higher resolution display or the iPhone SE for something more pocketable. Also consider holding out for refreshed models due in September.
