Parking across a Driveway (Offence 83430) - Should I Appeal?

Hi everyone, I'm after some advice for a recent parking fine that I recently got for the offence code 83430, which is parking across a driveway.

I wasn't blocking or obstructing access to the driveway not impeding any pedestrians from walking across as there is no footpath to speak of.

What to people reckon are of my chances of appealing against this fine?

Thanks in advance.

  • I got fined was while I was paying for the meter in Sydney City. Confronted the ranger, terrible attitude. Was going to appeal, eventually I gave up considering the time and effort I had to deal with those bastards. I decided to pay the fine.

    • Even just to write a letter? Was it a meter that spat out a ticket? Surely the time on the ticket vs the time of the offence would make it at least worth one letter.

      • Yes, one meter on the Sussex was faulty, I saw a ranger, describe to him my car asked him to wait for me I will get another one.
I returned and see 2 of them next to my car putting the ticket on the windshield. Absolutely terrible attitudes these bastards. human cockroach
I talked to a City councillor about the matter, very little they can do. The fine goes to OSR, it's a long shot to get it resolved (2 of them vs 1 of me, even though I have photos of the faulty meter). So I decided just to feed these cockroaches.

In that case, I would put in two letters. One to appeal the fine, and one to complain about the ranger's conduct.

But fair enough if you didn't want to pursue.

        • @tomsco: yes, should write a letter when you can. I was too busy at the time.

        • Similar thing happened to me. OSR complete bastards too. They replied back saying they acknowledge the meter was broken but legally I can't leave the car without a displayed ticket. Doesn't make sense at all, how could I walk to another meter without leaving my car??? I wrote back again but this time they didn't even reply as the website says they are not obliged to review twice. had to pay the fine unfortunately.

        • @Sharp: Sounds like I have saved myself some time. Journo should report this kind of ridiculous rules on paper and tv, OSR is too greedy.

        • @penciljar:

          Definitely

Just because there is no footpath doesn't mean you can park across the nature strip.

What were the previous 83429 offences?

    Post the pic.

  • Picture now posted. It is one of three, I'll post the next two in the coming hours as restricted to one per hour.

    • Please stop posting your pictures as deals. Just upload the picture to your account (My Account-Files) or another photo service.

      • How do I link these pictures to this post. The only option that I can see when I hover the cursor over them is to delete them or post them as a deal. Is there a way to just link them within this post?

        • Click picture, copy URL, paste here.

Bahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Sorry, but that's pretty funny.

  • What do you do when people are actually parking on the footpath?

  • Looking at the pictures, it's a bit stiff, but I would say you were over the driveway, as it angled out. Looking at image 124069662, I can see the other car in the pic is on an unsealed bit - the fact the unsealed bit there to me suggests that the sealed bits leading up to the road are driveway.

That's my 2c, but it's always worth an appeal.

    • I agree. Looking at 124063661 I would say it is pretty clear cut that you're on the driveway. The dirt there has obviously just built up over time due to foliage dropping.

  • You are parked on the driveway. Suck it up.

  • Sorry bud. You will need to suck it up and pay. I have idiotic parents parking like that in front of my house when picking up kids from school. Most annoying thing ever.

  • Nice Golf.

  • Attention: Parking fines are not deals.
