  • great price but can this be upgraded to Windows 10 Pro 64bit English FREE ?
I know it shows $100 on website

    • Looks like you answered your own question.

      • Ha ha ha.. I meant like a free upgrade from Microsoft once you buy this from DELL :-)

"But still a good price for a 14" laptop with 15.6" screen and good specs".

      How can a 14" laptop have a 15.6" screen?

      • XPS have a really thin bezel, so while having a 15.6" screen are physically the size of a 14" laptop

I don't know why they don't offer the FHD/8gb/256gb version with a 97whr battery as an option. Probably why I'm likely to buy the yoga 720 instead. Dell's marketing team really isn't that impressive tbh.

yeah if they had a 97WHR option would be much more enticing

  • Similar model with more RAM, better screen but worse graphics card is available on the outlet for $1749. Although their website seems to be down right now…

    • That was the last gen model, wasn't it? The one with the 6700HQ and GTX 950M?

      • Yep that's the one. Been quite a few up for a while, all refurbished IIRC.

For most people OPs deal is probably better, that GTX 1050 is very appealing.

        • I would rather not want to buy a year old refurbished product unless they explicitly said that they replaced the battery .

i just got mine off the ebay store 2 weeks ago during the 20% promotion for $1870 ish

its a good laptop but issues with chrome
    it freezes constantly

i think i might have received a lemon though

    • I hear people are having issues like this. It could be that NVidia has messed up the latest driver. Does this laptop have something like Optimus technology? Does it always use the GTX 1050 at idleas well? Or only when you are gaming or doing something that would tax the GPU?

Did you do the intel driver update?

I had the exact same problem with mine, google: "[XPS 15 9560/Precision 55520] FIX for Lag/Stuttering on Kaby Lake " And follow the instructions on the reddit thread to update the driver, chrome runs perfectly for me now.

I gotta complain about this laptop. I have the previous/2016 model, the 9550. Within 1 year it overheats during Battlefield (game) and clocks down the CPU, making it unplayable. Opening it up and cleaning out the dust didn't help. I had to install additional heat pads onto the motherboard, and I have to raise the back of the laptop, and it just barely lets me play for an hour.

Secondly, within 1 year the battery swells up and forces the trackpad up through the chassis, stopping it from working. I removed my battery and luckily the trackpad went back to normal. These batteries are expenive - $150-180 for 3rd-party batteries. Dell don't list them on the website and won't give a price without harvesting unnecessary personal info and going through a whole pro-forma sales quotation process (last time I did that they waited 7 days to tell me that it's out of stock and no ETA).

The last issue is the really bad after sales service. I accidentally ordered mine with 1 year warranty. Before it expired I tried contacting them 3 times to get it extended - they never respond and their warranty extension phone number is disconnected. I've since tried contacting them another 4 times but they just ignore me.

I've had 6 Thinkpads, and this was my first Dell. As bad as Lenovo support is, I'll be going back to them next time.

Rant over - they're extremely good laptops apart from the above. They're particularly attractive as Lenovo is slow to add Thunderbolt 3 to their laptops.

    • Have you tried using a laptop cooling pad that comes with a USB powered fan?

I have the same laptop, beautiful 4k screen but it shows blue screen every 2-3 hours.
i called onsite support, they came the next day and replaced all the parts in it(main board, harddrive, ram), they did this for a few times but the blue screen still happening everyday.

  • I was thinking about changing to one of these until I read this so thanks. I got a HP Spectre x360 in Jan and it overheats using Chrome. They tried fixing it a d it did nothing so now they are refunding me. Looks like all of these fancy laptops are lemons.
