    • I'm new to stea, how does this work , you buy from the codemasters site then get a serial in email then somehow redeem on steam ?

      • +1

Yes, codemasters gives you a serial key. In Steam there is a 'Activate Product on Steam' link in the Games menu which you use to redeem the key.

        • Figured it out, thanks!

      • +1

Steam has a capability for keys to be sold and activated on their platform - this is how other shops like greenmangaming operate, selling a lot of keys that activate on steam

"Do not uncheck this box if you wish to be contacted via email about product updates, upgrades, special offers and pricing"

    Nice.

    • +1

      wow, keeping it classy.

    • "Please manually retype in your email"

    • +4

It's a Friday and my brain is hurting from this comment….

So do I keep it checked for them to NOT contact me?

      • +2

All you have to do is cancel out the two negatives in the statement to simplify it. So remove the "not" and the "un" from uncheck. It will then read "Do check this box if you wish to be blah blah blah". So you simply leave it unchecked.

        • Oh my god..I'm an idiot..

    • Do not uncheck this box -> that means do check this box if I do not wish to be contacted?
      FML

      • Or should I uncheck the box… OMFG

  • Damn I initially thought it was Overwatch from Blizzard for free…

    • +1

Still a fantastic game though- great mechanic using the minions!

    • oh nooo, don't go ruining OW by inflicting "free" upon it.
thats what started the End Times for TF2…

Love this game. Witty and quite fun.

Bought it 5 years ago during the steam Halloween sale along with Overlord 2.

  • I'm not getting email confirmations. How long does it normally take?

    • same here, though it's only been 5 min since i bought it lol

      • +5

Finally got it. Must have been about 15-20 mins.

    • Got it as well. Maybe took about 20 to 30 minutes for the keys to arrive.

  • Thanks OP.

Lol'd at the tricky phrasing of "Do not uncheck this box if you wish to be contacted via email about product updates, upgrades, special offers and pricing" on the create account section.

    • CodeBast**ds!

  • Last time Codemasters gave away free keys the game was removed from Steam like a week later. (GRID1)

Anyone actually receive the activation email? Been over an hour and nothing yet.

    • +1

      See above, took a while.

  • +1

Can't believe this game is almost 10 years old. Still one of my favourites and definitely worth playing for those who haven't.

  • I dont see the download button on the download page

    edit:

or Unlock the activation key button

    • Download and installation instructions

  • Is this like Dungeon Keeper?

    • Dungeon Keeper is a real-time strategy and Overlord is more of a third-person hack and slash game.
You have hordes of minions you can control and you play for the 'evil' side, but that's basically the only similarities between both games.

    • It's basically evil Pikmin. I remember really enjoying it, but it's a total rip-off of Pikmin.

    checks steam library

huh didn't know I already had this game

    • ah my library of steam games i have never played or even looked at. damn package deals XD

  • Damn…too late to the party!

"Sorry, your order cannot be completed. There is no stock anymore for this product."

    • Yeah, same here. Bugger.

      • Hmmm, and now it's working…

  • Out of stock?

Please enter your email so we may contact you as soon as Overlord becomes available.

  • It was out for a while but it's back now.

  • waiting on that key ……..

  • been waiting for that email for 2 hours now

    • nvm just got it… seems like you'll have to wait a few hours for the email to arrive.

  • +1

Been waiting 4 hours and still no email…. anyone else?

  • Signed up, went to check out, got disappointed with the out of stock error message, checked steam, Already in steam library :/

  • Thanks for the deal… All I need to do is to wait for an email for the code. I checked the site again, and it seems like it's out of stock at the moment.

    • Try logging in, going to "My Account" > Your Orders > Download

  • When i try to activate the code on steam it says

    "purchase error

    An unexpected error has occured
    your subscription to the
    following items has not been
    completed
    "

anyone know what im doing wrong?

    thanks

    • Same here. No idea what's going on.

    • Steam just updated itself, I put in the key, and it said I already owned it (and offered to download/install). So…see if there's an update?

      • steam updated and now working, thanks

  • +2

For what it is worth, I managed to activate the game before receiving the email from Codemasters. I clicked the "My account" link at the top, and then "Your orders". There was a link to the download page for the order I'd just made which gave me the Steam key.
