Please don't advertise Sirena, as their fishing practices are far from sustainable. Safcol is a much wiser choice.

Ah the old Skype/Sirena one-two. Love it.

Skype to call mistress, tuna for the old wife.

Perfect timing, I need to get some Skype credit. Thanks TA.

Does anyone have a link to view the whole new Coles' 'Cattle Dog' ??

      • Thanks TA. So many 'targetted' offers to spend a certain amount of money within a specific period of time that my pantry is overflowing and my brain is scrambled. Am trying to restrict myself to 'specials' with long 'use-by' dates.

I thought only Woolworths had an embargo on Ozbargain posting new catalogue specials before 5pm on Mondays.

        • It's very quiet here.

When it rains it pours with these recent Skype credit deals!

    • +6

Well, I wished it had poured the 50% discount ones first, before it rained the 40% ones. Stocked up with the latter already …

      • Same.. do they run out though?

        I bought $60 worth @ 40% off…

        • +1

No, once the credits are applied onto the account, they do not run out. But still, I am reluctant to tie up much more than 1 year's worth of estimated usage in skype credits.

          @bluesky:
          Are you sure?
I had credit on my Skype account and didn't use it for ages.
Logged in one day and it was all gone.
Checked my email and turns out they send me a couple of reminders saying that my credit would expire if I didn't use it.
Was only about $10 so wasn't really phased.
This is going back about 5 years so maybe they changed their policy

        • It might unless policy is changed…

        • +1

@Hirolol: I got one of those emails as well once, all you needed to do was to make a call or send a txt to keep it active though.

        • Same here… bought $100 worth last time after realising this was the cheapest way to call Indonesian mobiles and the best call quality too.

        • +1

@Hirolol: According to their documentation, Skype Credit will go inactive after 180 days of no use. But even if they do, you can reactivate them. I cannot find any mention that they will be forfeited. Perhaps it was different way in the past.

        • +1

@bluesky: this is correct. I recently had to reactivate mine. Couple of clicks and it was all back.

  • Thanks OP

  • how is this tuna compared to John west? never tried other brands

    • In my opinion the best one is the chilli one.
If you open a small can and the mix it up with your fork you can pretty much put it on salad and you won't need to add anything on like dressing or what ever.

It is my favourite but it is full of oil. I hate John west as it is so dry.

      • +2

Sirena is yellow fin vs skip jack for nearly everyone else. So a better fish to begin with.
Some concerns about yellow fin sustainability though…

        • +1

          Interesting fact right there.

    • John West is quite bland compared to Sirena. Then again it is not too hard to spice up some tuna to get it tasting good =D

Who knew Skype credit and tuna would get so many upvotes, oh wait, its TA!!!

  • Are sirena tuna chunky style? I've only eaten john west, and hate the mashed up types. Can only ever eat the chunky style in olive oil flavour. Been meaning to try out other tuna brands

    • +1

Sirena is the best tuna. Period.

      • +1

John West Red Salmon is orgasmic!

      • Is it chunky in the cans? or is it all mashed/broken up?

    • +2

It's more than chunky style, it's like they push the can into the side of the tuna, turn it, and pull out a single big chunk of tuna! Very nice.

      • +1

Sounds good. John west 'chunky' is pretty much the same. Gonna try these then

  • Noiceee!!

  • If i get the Skype deal i am wondering if the credit can be used to pay for my Skype-in subscription and my fixed plan to Australian landlines (an old grandfathered plan) which is charged every 3months.

    • +1

Yes it can. More or less in the same boat here (Skype Premium). I just spoke to an online chat rep.

      • Did they tell you how to achieve it? I went to a help page and folllowed the instructions but could not get the interface to allow me to change payment method.

        • I just did this today, it works. Need to redeem voucher first. then when you try to change payment method, the option comes up.

Hey guys, try the Aldi yellowfin tuna in oil. Its pretty good for the price.

    • How much?

      • +1

Off the top of my head it's around $1.20 for 95g

The Coles/Woolies private labelled 95g chunk tuna is around $1.30. The one with chilli in oil is almost identical to Sirena - more than likely from the same Thai cannery.

FWIW Lemon pepper is quite good, too!
