  Not bad, I've been going to LA in June for the past 3 years and have previously paid between $820-950 on AirNZ. Being able to finally fly MEL-LAX direct on Virgin is a plus.

    Virgin reduced the number of direct flights ex Melbourne and have struggled with business there ever since.

      Reduced? They eliminated them altogether for a few years. They've actually only recently brought the direct flights back due to demand (thankfully, will fly with them again now).

  Great prices, just wondering has anyone else been able to get similar prices or better with Virgin direct? Or even on their virgin corp travel portal?

  I enter the same dates, and get a much higher amount on the Virgin site and also on the corp portal.

  EDIT:
  Virgin direct site shows MEL-LAX via SYD/BNE, no direct flights … whereas on IWTF there are direct MEL-LAX flights …

    Not sure on Qantas but Virgin are flying MEL-LAX direct from April this year, and have upgraded their Business class to 2-2|2-2 configuration

    From Brisbane Virgin is better. They use A 777. Qantas use an old 747

    Qantas uses the A380 which is more quiet and spacious (not sure they use it every day)

  Wow, last night I looked and there were $861 flights Melbourne-LA return on Virgin (20th July-15th August), today they're gone. They must have 2 seats per flight or something at the cheaper 'Getaway' price.

  By the way the IWTF site is still showing the cheaper flights on Virgin and Qantas but at least for the dates I'm searching when you go through to the referred site (e.g. opodo or eDreams, or check with Virgin or Qantas directly) they're much more expensive; more like $1,650 return.

  $817 with United - 7 Sept to 17 Oct on Momondo.com.au when I sniffed around after seeing these other prices.
