Solid deal and a good product (used for years) but for a true value for money proposition, use Sorbolene.

Great results, and is dirt cheap. Currently 50% off on Chemist Warehouse - I use this version for $3.09 for 1 litre. It will last you 6 months.

    • Rawn.you use Sorbolene as shaving gel or after shave cream?

      • +1

As shaving gel! Don't knock it till you try it ;)

        • In the shower?
I always shave in the shower. Usually use Nivea gel. Would this work the same way?

        • @BigTed: Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
The trick is (if no shower) is to let the sorbolene soften the area before you shave, so smooth on liberally, then let to soften hair for 2-3mins.
          YMMV.

        • @BigTed: Another trick is to use conditioner. This 600mL bottle at Chemist Warehouse does the trick @ $1.99.

        • What about KY lube?

@ca6leguy: depends what area of your body you are shaving

    • Much cheaper: just use Dove Beauty Bar.

      Does Sorbolene work?

Anyhow soap - provided it's pH balanced which most are - or Dove Beauty Bar works very well and I'm pretty sure shaving foam is soap.

  • How's this one compare to the Nivea Gel?

  • I've found KOS smells really bad. Can't remember which one of theirs it was but I couldn't finish the shave with it.

    • I'd drink it with a straw if I could - love that hint of eucalyptus or whatever it is :)

  • Better to use coconut oil. Store razor in mineral oil.
Lifehacker tip: Use jeans to sharpen. Replace mositurizer tip with tiny section of bandaid to maintain the correct angle and not cut up your face. Razor is like new and lasts a long time.

    • Use jeans to sharpen

      Doesn't work.

    • I strop my Mach3 triple blade on my forearm in the shower. I use 2-3 cartridges a year. Funny how the manufacturers don't promote that.

I have found Loreal mens to be the best gel so far. Haven't tried kings yet.

  • Do you need a shaving brush with this gel ? Or does it foam upon applying ?

    • +1

It doesn't foam up, it just lubricates as a gel. The benefit is, you can see what you're shaving.

      • Thanks

How many people shave in the shower or in front of the mirror? I've always done it in the shower & rarely use shaving gel with no problems. I have pretty thick facial hair that i let grow. I think i still have a shaving gel in my cupboard from several years ago.
