Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 iOS Black $298

I seem to recall they were $278 about a month ago.

Sennheiser confusingly have two Momentum 2.0 headphones available, and they look almost exactly the same. There's Sennheiser Momentum ON EAR 2.0 and Sennheiser Momentum OVER EAR 2.0. Then you have the wired and Bluetooth wireless variants, further complicating people trying to work out pricing.

The easiest way to determine which is which, is by looking at the ear pads. The leather looking ear pad (like in the one OP linked), is the superior version… and is the OVER EAR.

The ON EAR has a padded fabric instead of leather, and retails $100 or so cheaper (there's more differences than just the pads… like active noise cancellation, but that's the easiest to see which is which).

That all being said, this isn't a bad price for the OVER EAR wired version.
JB flogging the Ivory version for $358 (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/headphones-dj/headphones/sennheise…), so to pick up a set from a reputable seller for under $300 you're doing pretty good.

I'd personally try and get the wireless over ear version, as they are a terrific bit of kit.
      More expensive, unbelievable natural sound.

Late last year there were some good boxing day/xmas sales on these units (about $250 after a cashback offer).
But for normal pricing throughout the year, the above is not a bad deal at all.

      • The Over ears were $278 last month at HVN.
I got these as a replacement of the Sony NC mix up that was about $110.
I paid using GC that I got from the AMEX 30% promo.

      • I have the original Momentum over-ear, but 'over-ear' is a term used liberally. I find that they don't cover my ears properly and end up on top of them anyway. Not sure whether it is the same for these 2.0 but just some thoughts to inform people.
They are still good quality, but yeah, ears get sore quicker than my other over-ear headphones.

$300 for headphones and they can't just work on both iOS and Android….

    • It's the inline remote/mic.

One press for pause, two presses for skip, and then up and down for volume. It's a single button, and that causes issues with how it works with Android (works unreal with iOS).

I agree it should have two separate cables in the box… or at least some sort of adaptor.

But the headphones still sound perfectly fine with Android. Just no remote function.

Well they work fine on either, it's just the controls on the cable itself. Hell I've got the iOS version with my android phone, it still has the pause, play and next functionality but volume buttons don't work.

    • iOS and Android distinction is more for the volume control. They use different hardware configuration. It's possible to have wire that works with both (one at a time, but still), but they are a rarity.

The cable is replacable, you probably can snag one that's compatiable with Android easily (not sure about the price).

  • just sold my wireless one for $400 today, to be honest, not very comfortable headphone for my ear. the noise cancellation is not as good as bose, the sound quality is no difference to my apple ear buds, cant believe the wireless one is sold for 699……

    • I have the wired version, with the right source they sound great

      • what do you mean by the right source? thanks.

        • The type of player you are using to play your music (but I guess you could also interpret it to mean the music that you are listening to, bit rate, whether you are running it through an amp, etc.).

        • @brotherrfranciz: can you run music wirelessly through an AMP??
interesting to know, too bad it is gone.

        • Poweramp on android phones sounds significantly better than streaming services, especially if you have flac files

  • spend an extra $50-80 and get bose QC35, this is no where close to a deal…………………

      For inferior sound quality?

If your preference is comfort and noise cancellation and you like Bose's sound signature… fair enuf. But, if sound fidelity matters even a bit more than average, I dont think qc35 can compete with sennheiser momentum.

  • Got mine for less than $200 when the Amex cashback was on. That was a deal!
