I have been researching for a smaller TV for the bedroom or wall mounted in kitchen but still wanted the best features with slim profile. These guys appear fairly new and I have not found any reviews. Will Post again when I receve and Test the TV.

I wanted:

22" FULL HD LED TV with DVD PLAYER and USB.

I found the TV from Vision Digital Offered the Best Product in terms of specifications and looks (Really thin with DVD Player) and Price for the features decent delivery charge of $34.00 to Cairns QLD (Kogan was $67)

If you can find a Better Price for the same feature let me know.

MY RESEARCH

Shop bot has this TV listed for $437.00 so price has dropped $47

I found many similar offer from other Online Bargin Houses like:

  • everything says 22 inch except the title =D

  • Thanks but it's two days too late. Just got a TCL brand 24" LED last sat from RV and it's not full HD :(

  • +3

Don't buy from their site! You'd be better off bidding on the ones they sell on ebay as you'll get a much better deal.

    http://electronics.shop.ebay.com.au/i.html?_nkw=24%22+vision…

I won a 24" one for about $400 total. So far I'm very happy with it. They have other sizes for sale too.

    Pros:

    *Thin and light
*Nice looking, glossy bezel & stand, doesn't look cheap
    *Good build quality
*Remote is nice and doesn't look cheap (lot of cheap brand remotes look real generic)
*Great looking 1080p screen (found the colours and brightness to be too high on the default setting though making the picture overly saturated. Adjusted to my liking and looks perfect)
*Nice, clean looking menu and is simple to navigate
*DVD player, USB media support, HD tuner

    Cons:

*Sound quality is pretty poor (3Wx2). Similar to speakers found on a laptop. Sounds hollow and becomes distorted if you turn the bass/treble up too high. Speakers are on the bottom of the screen so not the best position. I just use some better quality external speakers with subwoofer and voila.
*Takes about 10 seconds for the screen to become viewable when turning the TV on. Usually they should turn on within a few seconds.
*USB media support is pretty bare bones. Haven't tried it that much but seems like only basic formats are supported.
*No option to turn off overscanning. This means if you try and connect your laptop or computer to it via HDMI to use as a monitor, the picture will extend beyond the edge of the screen despite being in 1080p resolution. You will only find the option to disable overscanning in some bigger brand TVs like Sony and Toshiba. Solution? Resort to VGA if you want to use it as a monitor..

Overall though, I'm very happy with it considering what I paid. It was either this or a Kogan. Can't say much for Kogan but indications on ozbargain tell me that they're not very good. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Vision though if I needed another.

    Hope that helps.

    • I checked out the ebay site Vs the retail site. The ebay site is indicating courier costs to melbourne is $45.00 whereas visiondigital says $20.90. I guess you would want to make sure that the bid you put in takes into account the difference in delivery.

      Looks like a gr8 deal.

PS - also checked on ebay for 22" vision instead of the 24" vision and the delivery costs were the same.

    • Thanks mate! Ordered through eBay for $360! ;)

      EDIT: for the 24"

    • Hey manbearpig,
Thanks for your post. I'm considering getting the 22" Vision LED as I want to use it as a TV and monitor. I was a little confused by what you said about the overscanning and resorting to VGA? This TV has a VGA input, so does that mean the overscanning problem is solved if using this input? How much is overscanning a problem because my plan is to hook up my mac and harddrive to the TV to play movies etc. Would this TV be suitable for that purpose?
Sorry for all the questions but hope you can help.
      Cheers.

      • Sorry for the delay.

Overscanning only happens when connected to a computer/laptop via the HDMI (digital) connection. It's a common problem on LCD TVs when connected to computers, but not LCD monitors. Overscanning doesn't occur when you connect a set top box, PS3 or Xbox 360 to the TV via HDMI though; only computers. This is what it looks like on mine in 1920x1080

        http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/4135/img0999y.jpg

You can shrink the desktop so that it fits on the screen but all this does is lower the resolution to something like 1842x1034. It's hard to explain but imagine that the full 1920x1080 resolution output extends beyond the edges of the screen. By resizing the desktop, the full 1920x1080 output is still going to be extending beyond the edges, just that you're making the desktop a lower resolution so that it will fit on the screen. So you'll have like a 1842x1034 desktop being displayed on a screen with 1920x1080 pixels, resulting in a blurry image.

This doesn't happen with the VGA connection. This is an analog connection but it's still sharper since the pixels are mapped 1:1 so yes you'd be better off just using the VGA connection. Using the VGA connection, this TV will be just like any other monitor. I was a little disappointed as I wanted to use the HDMI to connect to my laptop since a digital picture is better than an analog, but VGA is better in this case due to the HDMI overscanning.

        • Dude, thanks for replying. It all makes much more sense to me now. Cheers

  • doesn't actually say it plays media from the usb. only info I could see re playing divx ext was under DVD, so they would need to be burnt to a blank DVD

    • Says USB MEDIA yes but does not detail what media it plays.

  • Neoncs, nice post, but wouldn't it be better placed in the forums?
It looks like it's the normal price.

  • I notice that there is a similar offer on ozbargain for a Sanyo 24" LCD (not LED) from DSE @ $399.00. That model records to USB http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/30287

  • Hi All,
Well Like I said before I ordered one of this Monday Night and it has just arrived. Quick shipping and handling from Sydney to Cairns QLD. Was not expecting until next week. I have had great communication with Vision Digital.

Product is very well package. I opened up at work and I like the style of the panel with nice piano black finish and slim profile.

Turning on the tv took a few seconds for creen to be displayed but what i found was a very nice clean, modern interface which was a shock for a panel with these feature in this price bracket.

I immediately pluged in my usb stick into the back and choose media source from remote. What is displayed is a very nice folder structure display with the option to choose Music, Photos, Video. However the manual still does not say what formats it supports and I am yet to test format playback from usb.

Next I stuck in a DVD into the slim slot on the side of the panel. At first I did so with caution as nothing much happened as I was still in media (usb) source mode at the time. But once I selected DVD source it sucked in the DVD and started. The DVD had a few DivX tv shows on it.

It presented me with a nice menu to select episode and looks like it also supports picture and music dvd/cd options going by the images at bottom of screen. It played back the DivX files no problem.

With only spending a few minutes so far with the panel I must say i very happy with this product. Time will tell how long it lasts.

Ill test some more formats tonight and post here.

    • Hey mate,

Can you let us know what the image quality is like in comparison to some of the mainstream brands? Have you also tested the screen as a monitor?

      Cheers
