Akitmate is an Australian company designing very well regarded speakers (I own the Mini + version) that offer excellent price:quality ratio. Whilst replying to a thread asking for good Bluetooth speakers I suggested the Micro B, and discovered they are currently on special delivered for $399 (20% 13% cheaper than closest competitor).

Reviews for the Micro B system are overwhelmingly positive (WhatHifi, Product Review).

    if you don't need bluetooth, I rate the Audioengine 2+ for a similar price point. front ports are more predictable and are less affected by placement and bass loading.
