i got this today too, will wait till fuel is cheaper after Easter to use it

    • Haha, I only pump on Sundays and Mondays. Lets see if they follow regular pricing patterns over the holiday :)

      • +14

        I pump whenever I can.

  • +5

my one started on 6th April and expired yesterday.

    • mine too.. got the 10c discount

      • +1

Same here. And yeah, did the 24c off yesterday :)
And woohoo, I just checked my spam, got same offer for this week too. Check yours.

        • how did u get 24c off?

        • +4

          @Aemit: By stacking offers:

          • 10c flybuys offer
          • 10c for purchase > $20 in-store
          • 4c fuel docket
        • +3

@tomclancy: what do you spend 20 on? Other than milk and bread isnt everything overpriced?

        • +7

          @tomclancy:

Where is the 10c off for $20 in store?

But in all honesty, you fill your car with 50ltr of petrol you get back $5 for spending $20. Given nothing is cheap in the Coles servo, better off just with the 14c discount.

        • @tomclancy: Is there any exclusion on $20 purchase? Will Opal recharge work?

        • +1

@serpserpserp: 10c off $20 in-store spend is a standing offer. Milk, bread and toilet paper are the same price as in Coles so you can get half way there with them. Also sometimes the swap 'n go's are on special and that counts towards the spend.

Some people fill up fuel for 150L - if you visit the petrol station with two cars, or have extra tanks, or use jerry cans it's not hard to get the litres up. If you only fill 50 litres and you don't need toilet paper, then sure it doesn't make sense. But for some it does.

        • @tomclancy:

But even at 150ltr fill you are still only saving $15. Yes perhaps if you can get toilet paper at a discount there, they do the same 50% discounts as in the supermarket?

        • @serpserpserp: Spending $20 to save $15 is worth it if you buy the right items. I'm not sure about toilet paper 50% off sales.

        • @georgedn: I always get Quilton tissues for 10 bucks which is same price as in coles. ;)

        • @georgedn:

          Its part of their game.
You can just Buy Milk and bread and ate those for a week.

  • wonder if petrol will go up over easter like it normally does

  • +1

Got this offer with 30L of fuel and get 500 flybuys points. Dammit not stackable

  • Haven't got this one yet, hopefully I'll get one soon.

  • I got this too, perfect as I'll be using a full tank over the Easter weekend and can fill up once the prices have settled down again early next week.

  • +10

Coles Express is always more expensive than other competitors even when you apply the discount!

If Coles can't beat other competitors

It will start beating up their customers

    • Luckily (in this case) I'm from a town where all the service stations seem to collude and offer the identical price.

      • +1

Where I am, Coles for the last 3 months has been 4c to 6c dearer than any other service station & not sure why ???

        • +3

So they can offer you this discount now and look like winners.

      • +4

So luckily they all collude to give you higher prices?

        • +2

That's why I said in this case.

    • With 10c off (+4c more if you shop at Coles anyway), it's hard to find cheaper price elsewhere. Unleaded was 120c at my Coles Express (VIC) yesterday before any discount. Don't think you can even find 110c anywhere within the state (except Costco, but you need membership for that).

      • +1

Regularly fill up for around $1.10 at woolies with 4c off a litre and 5% off woolies egift card - $1.20 works out to be 1.10 approx.

        • So, not really cheaper, and you still need to buy gift card. I was referring to the one saying that "Coles Express is always more expensive than other competitors even when you apply the discount!"

        • +1

You can get 5% off Coles egift cards aswell with some insurance companies. Cgu is one example.

        • @tunzafun001: but unfortunately doesn't work for fuel purchases. I have NIB and we get 5% off but not for Coles Express. Any allow this for fuel?

        • @tunzafun001:

Coles egift cards only works in Coles

    • Coles was cheaper when they first opened up in my town then the other servos around must have gotten a bit ticked off because nowadays Coles are around the same price as every other one in town

    • i'd have to agree with OhMaJuck, coles is always much more expensive, and don't participate in the disclosing their price like woollies or others in fuel tracking sites.

I track 3 local coles, always around 10-15c more expensive than 7-11 and woollies and United.

  • +2

I just received this email. Problem is, Coles Express has the most expensive diesel in Adelaide. 131 cents, while its competitors down the road are 118 and 116. Costco is selling it today for 111c.

  • Nice offer, can be used multiple times too, I'll be sure to have all the cars filled and jerry cans.

    • as long as its under 150L ! I just updated the post.

*150 litres max fuel purchase per transaction in one vehicle and approved containers only.

  • +3

My suspicion was that they're sending these to people who used to be regulars at Shell. I started getting BP regularly when I realised that Shell charge 5c more per litre for V-Power than BP do for Ultimate (or Caltex for Vortex 98) - as well as local BPs usually being a few cents per litre cheaper to begin with anyway.

This offer stacked with a Coles 4c voucher does work out to a few cents of savings per litre though.

    • +2

yup. I switched to Puma because of the RAC deal.

    • Yes, I have two FlyBuys cards and haven't purchased fuel from Coles for almost a year. Both cards received the offer. If you want special bonuses and deals sent to you try not swiping your rewards cards at shops for a few weeks or months. They'll usually send some deals because they think you've abandoned them.

      • I still use my FlyBuys cards, at least, once a week, when shopping at Coles (sometimes their special is what we need), just haven't bought fuel from Coles Express for a long time

      • +1

No the trick is not to activate the ridiculous deals. Keep using your card at Coles though.

  • +8

I'd rather buy from 7-Eleven and pay what Goulburn, 2580 is paying.

    • +7

I guarantee almost no one knows what you are talking about. Although, I too locked in Goulburn.

      • Haven't they stop fake location application?

        • +1

          Works on a jailbreak.

        • +1

I haven't updated the app since it was working. Still works for me on android.

      • I missed out on 107.5 last week, locked in 107.7 for 60L instead.

However now NSW prices are going up and VIC prices are coming down so after 4c/L discount and 5% off using Wish Cards Woolies is better value, or will be soon.

    • So essentially abusing the app and performing an act of "fraud"

they will eventually patch this loophole to stop this kind of abuse of the system

      • Good luck to them. I can't see how they can stop me from faking my GPS location. They could restrict vouchers to within the same state or something I guess.

If they do patch it, then they'll lose my business. They might be happy with that.

      • Oh and let's not forget 7-Eleven's history of "fraud" regarding employee's wages.

  • I didn't get this one but I got it last week so fear not if you haven't received it, you might still get it :) I managed to save 14c at the pump so paid 104.5 for 91

  • +1

    Near where i am:

    Diesel
    Costco: 113.7c
Caltex Woolies: 116.7c (108.7c with fuel docket and $5 purchase instore + save by paying with discounted Wish card)
    Coles Xpress: 131.9c

    Petrol 98
    Costco: 121.7c
Caltex Woolies: 122.7c (114.7c with fuel docket and $5 purchase instore + save by paying with discounted Wish card)
    Coles Xpress: 162.9c

One of my friends does night shifts at Coles Express. He's had a customer come in and rant for a few minutes that my friend will soon be out of a job if he keeps high fuel prices (as if the guy behind the counter sets the price). Another guy came in and threatened to "punch your f#$ken head in" to my friend when Coles raised the price.

My friend is frustrated as he's on the receiving end of a lot of abuse and doesn't know why Coles Express is running a unilateral battle in some areas to have the highest possible price.

      • +5

        A very sad story.

      • +1

I hope they have physical protection from these angry people.

        • The only protection is some thin wires to stop people jumping the counter and stealing cash/smokes. My friend eventually has to leave his cage to restock shelves. Last week someone approached him at end of shift and in a really creepy way walk up to him and asked if he had finished for the night. When told no, the guy quietly walked away. My friend is considering quitting as he's fed up with abusive customers.

He's even had a policeman (in uniform, marked car) steal fuel after his EFTPOS card didn't work. When the card was rejected the policeman flew into a fit shouting 'don't you know who I am!' and stormed off without paying. My friend said he looked like he was at the end of this tether.

He doesn't work in a feral area, but there's something about service stations that attracts ferals.

        • @Cluster:

          No Joke

The fact the cameras are crap, CCTV footage is barely usable and the fact that Coles Express are usually plonked with easy access for the "ferals" to pickup their winnie blues or filters and papers

Disgusting your friend has to deal with it, he needs to get legal advice pretty quick smart to take Coles on with their safety policies for Service station staff, you would assume two people would be working at all times to ensure the safety of everyone, and I am sure he can lock the front doors to reload shelves and accept payment through the night safe Window, so there is a fair bit of protection there although I would be telling him to find another job

          Not worth the risk

    • I have seen my local express selling much more expensive compared to local metro and 7/11 after renovation. No brainer if petrol there is already more than 14c expensive.

  • Good deal, now only if Shell/Coles express supplied 98 octane fuel over here that'd be great. My car gets nasty if it doesn't get its fix and no 95 doesn't cut it. Stuck with caltex.

    • What car?

      • 14yo Merc, used vpower previously and after moving interstate tried it on 95 octane and got knee deep in trouble. Changed back to 98 and it's happy as.

        • Vortex/BP Ultimate tends to be better than Vpower anyway, doesn't it?

        • @9monkeyman9: I didn't notice any difference between vpower and vortex, haven't tried bp.

Which Spice Girl fills their car with petrol?

      Nice one dad.

    • +2

With jokes like that, no wonder your cat goes brr.

  • +2

I think you can all thank me for this offer
I brought 110 litres of petrol today and then 1/2 an hour later this deal pops up in my inbox :( knew I should have waited lol

    • +4

where did you bring it to?

      • Brought it home and put it in the shed why

  • Just in time for Easter petrol price hikes.

  • It sounds like a creative way to get around the law preventing them from offering more than 4c discount. Also why is the minimum spend 11c when the minimum reliable fuel delivery is usually 2 litres

  • +1

Excellent! Looks like I'm going to have to organise 2 cars and 7x 20L jerry cans.

  • -4

Posting a targeted deal is yag!

Negging and hating on my comment is yag as well…

  • Viva/Shell prices nationally are the worst on average for ULP and Diesel. There has been a dramatic decrease in some places like VIC in the last couple of weeks…I guess it depends where you are.

  • Coles Express has the highest price for LPG (like 15-20% more) and has been for a long time

  • I keep deleting useless emails from flybuys and just saw this and found it in my bin section of my email. Thanks OP!

  • Mine was a week earlier :(

  • Received the offer today valid 28th April till May 4th.
