ALmost never fuel up at BP, they're always the most expensive. Some people believe their fuel is better than the rest, any evidence in this?

i've actually noticed that for the last few months, Shell has been significantly higher than BP.

      • I've noticed this Coles in SA too.
BP has the cheapest fuel by a couple cents/litre if you dont have a 4c voucher or a 5% off gift cards for Woolies. The 5% off wish cards makes a huge difference and is pretty much the reason I will only fill up at woolworths.

Assuming 1 velocity point is equal to 1 cent, and you have the platinum edge card for maximum points (1 amex : 1 velocity),

        BP (117.9)
$50 of fuel gets you 450 velocity points, plus 100 amex points. which is "effectively" $5.50 off.

        Woolworths (117.9)
$50 of fuel paid with the 5% woolworth gift cards ($2.50 discount + 150 amex points), with a fuel docket ($1.65), plus woolworths rewards ($0.25 (2000 points to $10)). This comes to "effectively" $5.90 off

So.. assuming you maximise your savings, and have the applicable rewards programs, woolworths is still technically cheaper.
Plus the 5% gift card and fuel docket savings are "real" as opposed to sitting in points or reward programs.

    • Agree with you in cities. Not so much the case rurally - though Metro servo's are generally the cheapest - obviously differences geographically when stating that.
98 Octane wise though BP has been comparable, though in most instances Caltex-Woolworths tends to be the cheapest (not taking into account other smaller servo's in Sydney/Melbourne area that may be cheaper - but i believe the quality of 98 octane is lower?)

    • Not in my area their not. They are always cheapest. Coles express is the most expensive, by 3-6 cents per litre.

When I read this, to me it indicates only in store purchases are eligible. Not petrol. In the past these offers were very clear when petrol was offered up as the deal. Can anyone confirm if petrol is 100% included?

    • Agreed.
Has anyone tried for petrol only? Did it work?

  • Where do you go to activate the bonus offer? Is there a link someone can please post
