    are these any good?

    • Would also like to know.

    • had the xiaomi miwifi. can't fault it for 30 off bucks. still running after 1.5 years of continuous usage

The reason I won't buy one is that the ethernet ports on it are 10/100M, not gigabit. If you just want the high speed for wireless-to-wireless, ok then, but to have such a mismatch between the wireless and wired speeds makes it no good for me.

      • so i can use as range extender?

      • That is a deal breaker for me as well. But this would be a great router for most people these days, who do not use wired networking.

  • I bought the dual aerial Mi WiFi Router AC and it's installed and running OK. It's certainly faster than my old N router.

Only problem is that the device came with no English instructions and the auto install was also only in Chinese so it was all intuitive. I'd be asking whether there are English instructions and an English option in the device setup login before purchasing .. :-) .. !!

    • When I bought mine and did setup, I had to guess at the start what was what. Till I finally got far enough to be able to use the translate feature on browser.

      Its a big pia

Update: Update: I found a you tube video on how to switch the installation to English.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyOsuCizsEs

Helps somewhat, but you start the installation process in Chinese!!

I have been using this for the past few months now, amazing little unit. This came into replace my WD n900, this works like a charm. Far better signal strength and far better coverage. Very powerful yet very light and compact, no heat at all. Two cons I can mention are no GigE and only 2x LAN port. Positive is Wifi is so good unlike my previous unit, I can now live with wifi rather than wired… IMHO the price makes the unit unbeatable
Also no AU plug came with mine

  • It's a battle setting up as Chrome only sporadically translates the UI page. Will be awesome when there is English fully supported.

QoS is rubbish if your connection speed changes. It snapshots your speed and allocates that. E.g you get 500kBs when it calibrates it will give 100 between 5 devices. Not really QoS.

    The correct code is:

    xiaomi routers

    • Thanks!

    • xiaomi routers

      anyone else get this?
this coupon is not available for limited offer products.

  • Anyone know if this router supports NBN?

  • How does it not have gigabit Ethernet? Xiaomi is so weird sometimes

    • already been long argued here… it makes sense if you have an adsl connection that wont stress 10/100 and you dont have any need to use a nas or desktop pcs…

heaps of people just use it for internet

but by the same token, 10/100 means its not nbn ready which just about says it all

A 10/100 ethernet port gets a 100mbps connection which is the max speed offered by a standard NBN connection. In what way is it not NBN ready?

  • does anyone know if i can connect a portable harddisk to the usb port?

The original system of this product is Chinese and you can change the language through the official APP.

      https://www.banggood.com/Original-Xiaomi-Mi-WiFi-3-Router-Sm…
The router has been replaced with English version on 2016/11/23, the orders placed before 23th all in Chinese version.

  • I just want a better WiFi AC access point this should be good, right?

  • If you get it and it's in Chinese. Try and log into the router's interface and click the top right text with the drop down arrow. Click the 2nd option and on that page scroll to the bottom and drop down the menu that is 2nd from the bottom. If there is not English there, download this firmware: http://bigota.miwifi.com/xiaoqiang/rom/r3/miwifi_r3_firmware…
On that same page at the top is the firmware update option click the grey box and select that firmware, update it. NB: the tick box during updating is asking if you want to wipe all user settings. Only do this if you are starting fresh.
After that, repeat these instructions until you see English as a language. Select it multiple times until it sticks. Done.
