Not sure if this is a good deal. Harvey Norman is selling for $397
    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/netgear-arlo-hd-smart-home-se…

  • will this even work in AU?
you do realise USA has 110V and AU is 240V?

  • Great price, but doesn't appear to ship to Australia for me?

  • +1

For outdoor usage, (if you are set on buying into Arlo) I'd wait for the smart motion sensing…

In the future, Netgear says they will add smart motion sensing to see the difference between people, animals, and trees.

    See https://smarthomesolver.com/reviews/arlo-vs-arlo-pro/

    • "In the future" - how long is a piece of string? Not sure it's a valid reason not to buy now at this price, but you might be more patient than me.

      • +1

My original Arlo batteries die very quickly as a result.

I set the motion to low and angle it as best I can. It really is quite frustrating.

        • Mine are going strong at 85% after 5 months

        • Reading the forums, it seems DeepHorizon is correct below, the batteries which come with it claim to last 4-6 months.

        • @dazzywazzy:

It's true. But everyone's set up will vary.

I have a lot of trees and bush where I want my camera, and on windy days, I get a lot of false notifications.

        • @rorymeister:

Yes, me too! On a particularly windy day, I had over 200 alerts!

I've moved my two cameras (original models) indoors now. The cat still sets them off a few times a day though. Yes, my very own cat burglar. :)

I figured no benefit recording outside, it is what's happening inside my house that matters.

        • @brotherrfranciz:

I have mine all outdoors. One covering the meter box with a 10 second record so it instantly alerts me if anything goes near it.

This is of course only activated when we're away from the house.

Actually, I am in the process of investigating a PoE setup. Will use some Hikvision cameras and PC Based software called Xeoma.

Going to try Xeoma out on the Raspberry Pi, failing that, I'll get a low powered PC with recordings stored on a partition on my NAS.

I'll then relegate the Arlo to indoors.

          @rorymeister:

Cool, a bit too complicated for me though!

I have a recipe in the IFTTT app that if my Arlo cameras detect movement, my LIFX bulbs turn on - I find it better to record in colour rather than night vision if I have the option.

I'm actually considering maybe using the LIFX 'Spooky' setting to scare burglars or the 'Strobe' setting to give them an epileptic fit hehehehe…

Just got my 2 camera system delivered from smarthome $545aud shipped, with a 20% off coupon from signing up. Dhl delivery in 3 days over Easter weekend ! The battery charger will work with a USA/AU adapter but the base station requires a 240v 12v 1.5amp adapter as the supplied one is 110v only, can get from jaycar. (I had an old xtreamer adapter that works fine) easy to set up and nice picture, alerts are very quick also. Very happy

    • Got a link by any chance? I just searched smarthome.com.au and couldn't find any Arlo product?

      • +1

        It's actually smarthome.com

    • Are you able to provide a link to the adapter that will work?

    • Out of curiosity on smarthome.com - when you get to the checkout, is it AUD or USD. Cannot find that info there anywhere.

      Cheeers

The 1 & 2 camera system with ship to AU but not the 3 camera system.

Just buy the 2 camera system and a standalone camera.

    • I bought the 3 camera system from Smarthome and is arriving Monday. Am i missing something here?

      • +1

On Amazon the 1 & 2 camera systems will ship to AU but not the 3 camera set. I was referring to Amazon not Smarthome.com.

        • I have the code for SMARTHOME and they are in stock. Is anyone chasing? Smarthome.com where excellent to deal with and will direct ship through DHL.

        • @mewsik: Got my Arlo Pro this afternoon. Shipped on Wednesday, delivered today arvo, amazing delivery system.

I would also recommend Smarthome.com if you are ok with the warranty hassles if there was problem with the cameras.

        • @mewsik: Can you pl. send me the code, thanks.

  • the arlo pro is now avail in Aus.

  • Buy a single camera local version and buy the multiple add on camera from Amazon - works out cheaper

    • But a single camera local stock is $449, this one works out to be $338 delivered.
So wouldn't it work out cheaper buying this one and then adding on cameras like you say?

      • sorry, I was thinking of buying during a ebay 20% sale! Lol

Just wait for a sale to come through..hopefully soon

        • Cheapest 1 camera system with Aussie stock on eBay with a 20% code will still only bring it to $399.20 - that's assuming they don't price hike first, so not sure why you would wait?

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NETGEAR-VMS4130-Arlo-Pro-Wire-Fre…

        • @dazzywazzy:
Prefer local stock for warranty. Anyway MWave is $449 pick up also on their ebay store for $487. Like you said hope they don't jack up the price.
Also don't like the fact I need to get an additional stepup transformer.

        • @dazzywazzy: there are $449 seller (wireless 1) who might list it on ebay and has historically been part of the 20% off sales. It is also possible that good guys will stock and list the kit.

If you don't need it right now then waiting is not unreasonable.

        • @Fiximol: Not saying it's unreasonable at all, just a big saving to what's out there right now. I've added all the eBay ones to my cart and taken a screenshot so will be interesting to compare when next 20% tech sale comes along

        • @revivor: $487 + $12 postage :)

        • Any deals on local stock with the currents 20% tech?

  • +1

When they unveil smart detection, whereby you can highlight areas to exclude from motion, these systems will be seriously good.

The fact that the Arlo Pro has power if you so choose is ideal. Providing that flexibility is great.

    Next step is better optics.

  • Is this international warranty? or need to send back to US? Thanks.

    • I've sent Arlo support a message on Facebook regarding this, will post here as soon as I get a response.

      Cheers

      • In one of the netgear threads, the netgear employee said that it won't be international warranty. So items you purchased in the US will have to be sent back there.

        • Read that exact same thread, just confirming with support.

  • +1

Just to add on the warranty, I called them before I purchased it here in AU and they said that if you buy it from US warranty will be followed which means that you only get 1year not the two year that you get here +not a big one, the power supply comes in US pins. For me 2 year Warranty, made me change my mind and buy it here.

  • +1

On Amazon.com it is now usd$ 218.75 or Aud $292.13 which includes delivery
    https://www.amazon.com/Arlo-Pro-Security-System-Siren/dp/B01…

    • Thanks for that mate, have updated the price. Cheers

  • Hey Guys.

I recently ordered the Arlo pro from Amazon 2Kit + 1 for 800 since online stated that the 4 Kit wont deliver to AUS? . Stock got denied by Customs and sent back seller . I Got the Full Refund.. I Then Purchased it @ Harvey Norman by Price Matching the 3 Kit for 999 (Centrecom or Mwave) from 1070

I then used AMEX Deal (spend 350 and get 50). so i split the transaction and paid for 3 cameras for 999 then - 100 for 2 transaction. 899.

If the price difference is not that much.. Local stock might be better.

Single Camera is 310 @ MWAVE. so if you buy something random for 40 bucks.. you can get the camera for 260 local stock.

    Thanks

    • My kit came through no worries and is up and working magnificently. NOt sure what went wrong with yours. Too many overseas OzBargains maybe you're on a blacklist ;)

      • could be :(. Waited for 2 weeks and it was due 15th of may.. then received an email ORDERS RETURNED TO SUPPLIER..

        was so mad hahah

        • Hey Phuiie can you turn on your PM. Need to ask you something.
