I'm going to hazard a guess and say that they won't be checking ID or only honouring the free coffee for uniformed service men and women or volunteers. I guess they're relying on the general good nature of people, and presume that no one will get up early to go to the dawn service and impersonate service people/volunteers in order to swindle a $3.50 coffee for free. Shame on anyone who would consider it.
