  • Looking at the V6 absolute. What are some Ozbargainers thoughts on this vacuum cleaner?

    • +1

I have had one for a while now and my only real complaint is battery life. Pretty common complaint from most folks. That aside, I've been really happy with it - great for spot cleaning, or light vacuuming of larger areas. Brilliant for cleaning staircases and very useful for cleaning the car interior.

      • hmm ive also read elsewhere that the battery life isnt the greatest.
thanks for your reply though. seems real convenient and even more tempted

        • Take some time to look at the differences between the models and get what works for you. You may find you can buy a cheaper model that meets your needs. As long as you're not expecting awesome battery life, you shouldn't be disappointed in the overall product. If the battery is a major concern, then the V8 models offer double the battery life (approx 40mins total), but they obviously come at a price premium. Good luck!

        • @CamM:

thanks mate. i'll have a look further into this. Even though V8 might offer longer battery, its unfortunately out of my price range :\

        • hmm ive also read elsewhere that the battery life isnt the greatest.

I thought that's what CamM said in his first sentence. :)

        • @tobi3421: I hear you. I couldn't justify the price of it at the moment either! Not sure if it matters to you, but the Absolute is the only one that has the HEPA filter so that's a real plus if you have any asthma or dust allergy sufferers in the household.

        • @AussieDaddy: I'm pretty sure tobi3421's comment was intended to be read -:

yes I've read elsewhere that the battery life isn't the greatest

          Gotta love the English language!

        • @CamM: Makes sense. Haha

        • @AussieDaddy:

roasted on ozbargain for my english :'(

        • @tobi3421: LOL! Nah, just bored and wanted to stir shit up. You didn't fall for it. :P

      • That is exactly what they are marketed and designed for - spot cleaning, there really shouldn't be a complaint about battery when they never said it would replace a corded vacuum, only has the power of one depending on which one you compare it to.

Though saying that 20 minutes can do a place like a 4 bedroom house but every person has different cleaning areas, different cleaning situation (pets, kids, how often they clean etc) so of course it can vary

Powerful machine. Get the absolute if you have a hard floor and want the fluffy head for that - especially if you have wooden floors that might get scratched with the the other heads.
Battery life never seems a problem for me - I do quick bout of vacuuming for dog fur and never run out before I finish what I want to do.

If you don't need the fluffy head, get a cheaper model.

Main criticisms of the V6 design is emptying the dust canister requires a plastic fork or similar to tease out the dirt and hair from the canister, and also hot air can be directed at bit towards the user.

      • yeah we've got wooden floor and an animal in the house so was definitely looking at the v6 absolute.
Old vacuum cleaner is massive so i tend to want to vacuum the entire house at a time but i reckon if it was convenient like this, I'd be more inclined to randomly vacuum here and there so perhaps battery wouldnt affect me too much.
I didn't know about the problems with the dust canister.
        Thanks for your reply!

      • You know you can open the canister out completely by pressing the eject button down again while the lid is open to release the canister from the body yeah, or do you mean the inner part of the vacuum still even after opening it up?

  • To a first-time dyson buyer, which of the 4 would you guys recommend? Possibly for a 3-bed apartment carpets and small tiled kitchen

    • See @pencilman's comment along with my earlier one. The "recommended" one is very much dependent on your personal needs. From memory, only the Absolute has a HEPA filter, otherwise they all have the same motor, battery life and canister size. Included attachments vary from model to model.

    • If its within your budget the V6 absolute, better performance out of the lot but the cordfree is more than enough to do the job in the cleaning situation

  • and we broke the site

  • Can't believe it. My Dyson died just after this sale expired.

    Grrrr…
