Oh just noticed randoom's comment here already referencing this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/303852#comment-4631793

  • should just combine this to the previous post?

  • +3

I have just saved some money. My wife says "no".

Bought this when it was $10. Didn't really need it and didn't really like it so returned it in store. Didn't seem like it would save me a lot of space packing my clothes or do anything that a plastic bag couldn't. Quite thin too but i did like that you could hang it.

    • +1

You can hang plastic bags too.

    • it has to be thin. the purpose of this bag is NOT to save the space. if you want to save the space, go grab a vacuum bag instead.

Tbh, Shouldn't $5 be the normal price?

  • Thanks OP
    Bought 2 :)

  • Holy hell, people pay $50 for this?

    • No? For realistic RRP for Katmandu products, just halve it.

      • +5

Yep, they always pull the old 'fake full price and artificial discount price' in their store to fool people into thinking they are getting bargains on their mostly sub-standard, overpriced, rebranded no-name products.

Combine this post with the other one. Geez.

  • It comes with a packing cell, which is potentially $8 just by itself if you buy it via this deal.

    • Can you explain please?

      • +1

Lol. Childish neggers on this site are an insult to common intelligence at times.

It was a genuine query. Perhaps someone else can elaborate on his comment before I buy.

As far as I can see it "comes with" nothing - it's a foldup, hangable packing cell.

Edit: Thanks OP. Eventually bought a few after some fun and games with their checkout.

      • I purchased the Packing cell directly from the Kathmandu site so I could use Click and Collect. Product link

        Details:

        • One packing cell compartment
        • One shirt folder
        • Lay flat or hang to use
        • Pack & Go travel solutions

I misread the packing cell compartment and thought that it included a packing cell. Sorry, I was wrong.

Almost ordered this for the bargain price - but remembered why I stopped using packing cells. The advantage of this over packing cells is it is easy to hang up your clothes on arrival.

Travelled overseas many times since 2005 (many 3 month holidays) with Kathmandu packing cells. The product was good & lasted. I just found it added extra weight (280g for this) for little benefit.

So, changed the way I packed & cut back on what I took. As discount airlines charged more for luggage & cut back on carry-on allowance, I found I could happily travel with less. *May not be to everyone's taste😉

Currently in Tokyo region for 4 weeks with only 6kg carry on. (Cold in mountains where I am going, so bringing heavier & bulkier warm clothes.) Many different sized (free) zip-lock plastic bags or compression sacks I've had for years divided up contents, with main clothes either folded in section of small packpack or worn on flight. About first out of airport last night - no waiting for luggage😯

I like the Sea to Summit Travelling Light Mesh Bags. Medium Size is 86g. They're not that cheap, but they weigh hardly anything and are useful and strong. I agree that 280g is pushing it if you're the carry-on type.

      • Miss Kitty,
        I am that carry-on type.

    • But when youre bringing stuff like suits, gotta keep them nicely somehow.

      • +1

True, but this isn't designed for suits. It looks like a suit pack (which I occasionally use), but isn't.

It's a packing cell & compartment that folds up, or hangs giving access to the compartments when you arrive. Designed for shirts etc.

        One packing cell compartment
        One shirt folder
Lay flat or hang to use

        Dimensions
        38cm L x 27cm W x 10cm D

Although the length will double when opened flat, it would need to be a tiny suit to fit this pack without a lot of folding😉

Better look elsewhere for a suitable suit pack. Or just wear it on & hang it up if possible. http://magazine.brooksbrothers.com/how-to-pack-a-suit/
