    price in title?

  • +7

    Tell them the price son

  • if you've got an old laptop battery lying around (containing 18650 batteries) then buy a DIY powerbank casing (includes circuitry) for US$4 delivered from aliexpress and make your own

    • +17

      containing 18650 batteries

      That's a lot of batteries

      • +1

        they are very very small

      • +1

        Not if you're in Adelaide.

    • +1

A good tip but I fear most OzB'ers would puncture a cell with the steak knife they're trying to use to pry it open.

      • hold each end of the laptop battery and twist back and forth continually. this will break the internal clips that hold the battery together. no need to use sharp implements to open the battery.

    • +1

Can you tell me where you can get a DIY powerbank that supports QC for both input and output?

      http://budgetlightforum.com/node/48561
That's the only one I can think of that I would actually trust. Not some $4 Ali special.

      • Sorry, my bad about the linked diy box not being QC. I've been using an 8 cell diy battery pack for the last month and it has been great. Doesn't get hot, holds charge well, charges and discharges at 2A. A great way to utilize old but functional 18650 batteries whilst they have life and before needing to be recycled/ disposed of.

    • how would that get past airport security? :)

      • Hello, little man. Boy, I sure heard a bunch about you. See, I was a good friend of your dad’s…

        • Enepoop

    apusexpress2 is shoppingsquare.

Good luck with a lousy seller.

    • Haven't had any problems with either… yet

      • I ordered a few weeks ago for a xiaomi battery pack, never received it (to syd) and received a refund like a month later.

        • +1

How did you receive a refund a month later if you only ordered it a few weeks ago?

        • +2

          @stublu:
          Time travel…
Well a month later could be from the order date. Regardless, I ordered it previously thinking it was Syd stock but nothing ever arrived.

  • +3

You can also get the pro version for $43.12 delivered. Not sure how much better it is besides the USB-C component if anyone has any USB-C requirements and a few mm thinner and perhaps micro charging for smartwatches/fitbits etc.

Genuine Xiaomi 10000mAh Both-way QC2.0 Quick Charge Type-C Power Bank Pro For iPhone Samsung LG AU Stock

    • +1

thx mate! I think the reason to get usb-c is to future proof it. With most devices moving to usb-c, it will save you from bringing around a micro usb cable to charge it.

      • +1

Note that the USB type C is input only to charge the powerbank. I'm waiting for their "version 2" and hopefully has USB type C input and output.

        • Oh Nos! I remember reading that the Type-C went both ways, but can't find that info anymore… bad buy I guess ><!

        • +1

@zakarados: Probably reading the Quick Charge is both ways :), in which it is

        • See my other post below on an email deal from SS for the new Pro model PLM03ZM. That one supposedly has USB C for both input and output, and is not that much more expensive than the OP.

        • @WantToPayLess: Wow i didnt realise there's 2 versions of the same Pro now. Damnit Xiaomi and their confusing product lineup. They should differentiate their product lineup more clearly. Thanks for that.

        • @KitchenSink096: Actually I didn't notice this either, until @techno2000 spotted the difference in model number and spec.

Accordingly to the Xiao Mi HK site (http://www.mi.com/hk/batterytwins/specs/), the gold version is the new PLM03ZM and the grey the old PLM01ZM. The gold version has a higher min capacity and supports a higher output current at 5V but otherwise the spec appears the same.

        • this assumes SS are using the right description - I wouldn't bet on that with a dime.

        • Another seller has the version 2 for $47.99 (Not included in C20TEK)
Currently on my watch list for a generic eBay-wide discount.

Or on BangGood for $44.63 (Currently OoS)

        • Can you explain to me the current advantage of USB type C output? The Galaxy S8 comes with a USB type A to USB type C cable so a benefit of USB type C input is that you only need to carry around that 1 cable to charge both the power bank and the phone with a standard USB type A wall charger. But for USB type C output, wouldn't you need a USB type C to USB type C cable? Also, if you wanted to carry only that one cable, wouldn't you also need a wall charger that has a USB type C port too?

    • This one also has Quick Charge 3.0 instead of 2.0

  • +8

Mushtato has the same price, $26.40 each, delivered, if you buy 2 or more. Very reputable seller here on OzB.

    • +1

Can confirm mushtato is great. I got my 10000mah from there mid march. Paid about about 32$ at the time. It arrived in 3 days with no hassles what so ever.

    • Mushtato excellent seller. To start off reads what you write if there is an issue or query.

If you have to contact the SS, well just don't have to is my advice.

SS delivery around 4-6 weeks unless locally stocked somewhere - if they still do.

    • Cheers got 2 at Mushtato but its $26.95 each.

      • Price changed from 26.40 to 26.95 about 2 and a half hours ago. Not sure why. Changed before my eyes while I was checking out.

    • Link?

  • +4

You can also get the 20000mah for $41.56
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2017-New-XIAOMI-20000mAh-Dual-USB…

    • you just have to worry whether you can carry that 20,000 mah powerbank on planes (or go through security checks at the airport)

      • You can, I had no issues recently. But interesting to see what USA does with their new ban on laptops etc from the middle east. Don't know their policy on that.

      • +6

No need to worry, as 20000mah at 5.1v works out to be 102Wh (https://milliamps-watts.appspot.com/) which is allowed as hand carry as per below:

        http://www.iata.org/whatwedo/cargo/dgr/Documents/LithiumBatt…

        • It is probably less than that. All the powerbanks I have seen, the mAh rating is the rating of the battery. As the battery's voltage doesn't go over 4.2V, and the voltage drops as the battery discharges, that gives it a capacity of less than 84Wh.

    • Thanks for that, I got this one.

  • Damn, black is out of stock.

    • white is the new black. don't discriminate

    • It should come back in stock, keep checking. This happens every time this is posted (goes in and out of stock).

  • Still no USB C in?

    • Get the 10,000mAH pro V2 from BG for $44.63 delivered.

QC3.0 and USB-C input and output.

      • Cheers for the link, I got burnt buying a Xiaomi powerbank that turned out being fake a while back, but this one seems legit and has some reviews

        • AFAIK BangGood only sell legit Xiaomi stock. Never heard of them selling fakes.

        • Yeah I actually purchased mine from AliExpress, I mean it was completely my fault the title of the ad was "100% for Xiaomi Mi Power Bank", so not blaming anyone but myself just clarifying so no misinformation is being spread, never had a problem with BangGood. Cheers again for the link I might order one next pay day

  • Haven't seen any of the 20,000mAh models on here in a while.

  • Are there any USB c both ways quick charge

  • QC 2.0 and no C in, no thanks.

  • Is this charger good for an S8 plus or I need to have an adapter to plug into the usb c point of my phone?

    • Ooops, my bad, this version is micro USB so you would need a USB C adapter. better off getting the Pro or Pro 2

  • +2

Wouldn't the Pro version, which is thinner and with QC3 and USB-C, at $29.95+$4.95P&H better value? See

    http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/product.php?id=423712&n=399…

Note that email deal will expire by mid-night tonight so need to be quick if you want it!

    • +1

Looks like an improved PRO with QC 3.0 Model: PLM03ZM and type c can be used for output as well.
The older PRO had QC 2.0 only Model: PLM01ZM and type c was only for input.

      • I am guessing that a QC3.0 Powerbank 2 should be released soon as well.
Might be better to wait for that one.

      • Can it be charged by anything other than USB-C? I don't have any USB-C devices yet, so wouldn't be able to charge it with any of my existing cables.

        • +1

Nope. It comes with a micro usb to usb c adapter inside. I lost the adapter so had to get a usb c cable just for this.

    • wow that is cheap… waiting for shopping express to cancel my ebay order ><!

    • Has the price gone up? Says $42.95 now.

  • +1

A bit off topic, any one had this powerbank that charges really slow?

Got mine from Aliexpress about 6 months ago, worked well till last month, then it charges really slow. Use to charge from 30%-90% in about an hour, now for an hour it barely charges 10%. No problem with phone/cable, it charges fine from wall charger. Is it just dead, or anything I can do about it?

    Thanks

    • +1

i have that problem too. became slow after the 2nd recharge

    • That is good to know. Let me see if it happens on mine.

    • +1

      This is supposedly local stock.

      Item location:
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, Australia

  • +1

Expect delivery after 5-6 weeks or more! Be careful

    • Item location:
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, Australia

      Should arrive much faster

      • But why it said "Estimated between Fri. 19 May. and Fri. 26 May. "

    • I guess you meant banggood deal

  • Thanks, just got one.

  • AU $32.99

is this the original price before the sale or did they bumped the price? we can't tell because the history only shows 100.
    thanks.

    • the day before yesterday, it was $29.xx on sale but the sale finished around 11pm on that day.

  • Hmm, trying to decide if I need power bank for upcoming trip to Europe next month. I've Galaxy S7 and wife has S5 phone, but it should have enough battery to last a day, even with some GPS navigation? For my Sony RX100 III camera I've 2 batteries, so when fully charged it can go trough day no problem. Bose QC35 headphones seems to last forever, but even then I can charger them on Emirates plane as they have USB sockets.

Anything else I'm missing? Don't want to be carrying extra weight if I don't use it as we prefer travelling light these days.

    • +1

I just got back from the UK and both my wife and I brought powerbanks for our Galaxy S6es. I had the Anker PowerCore+ 10050 and she had the Xiaomi Powerbank 2. Due to using a lot of GPS, internet, photos, each of us had to top up with the powerbanks. I wouldn't go travelling without one! Don't forget the QC AC adapters to charge them and the phones quickly!

      • Thank you. I think Galaxy S6 has 2600 mAh battery while S7 has 3000 mAh and according to reviews it last longer. I'm also not planning to use internet while walking in the cities (Germany/Austria) and only GPS from time to time to check location/walking directions, also some photos and videos, but as a secondary camera to RX100.

Given all this, maybe it can last all day?

    • +1

If you're not using the GPS all the time, the phone should last, but I'd grab a small powerbank like the lipstick style ones that are 3000mAh or 5000mAh. Very pocketable, small and light.

I had a 20000mAh with me on my travels. While the large capacity was great (got 5-6 charges) it was a burden to carry around when walking around cities and would prefer a smaller one to fit in the pocket.

      • Yes, won't be using GPS all time, only occasionally if don't know where to go :)

Good idea about 3000-5000 mAh lipstick style chargers, will check them out, thank you!

        • If you can, find a powerbank that supports QC. When your battery is low enough that yuo need to plug in, a QC charger that can give you back 1% a minute is a godsend.

        • I found this local stock if you're interested
          https://www.cablegeek.com.au/shop/power/power-banks/aukey-pb…

It's a tad more expensive then the Xiaomi's and its smaller in Capacity too but more portable. There's some on Aliexpress but I don't know if they ship to Aus. I had a problem with my last order that shipped from Aliexpress but never arrived (possibly due to customs)

  • This would support galaxy s7's quick charge? Bear in mind that our Aussie s7 uses "Samsung adaptive charge"
Which is apparently different to quick charge 2.0

I dunno if it's the same as quick charge

    • It's the same.

I have used this powerbank to fast charge my S6 and a friend's S7.

      • At QC speeds, or normal speeds?

        • +1

          QC speed

When plugged into either phone it says "fast charging."

When plugged into a USB power meter I can see the phone receiving 9V. This indicates QC is in use.

  • Does it charge itself at QC2.0 or does it charge an attached device at that speed?

My phone is QC3.0, will it still get 2.0 speeds when being charged by it?

    • +1

The powerbank charges itself at QC 2.0 speed and also outputs QC 2.0 (but not at the same time).

QC 3.0 is backwards compatible so yes your phone will charge quickly at 2.0 speed.

  • Got mine delivered today, great deal.

    • Local stock?

Why it said "Estimated between Thu. 18 May. and Thu. 25 May. "
