We sell a quality spinner - with excellent ball bearings from an actual shop based in Melbourne which you can call - on the phone - or visit in store. We ship with Australia Post - with tracking provided and have over 2500 reviews of satisfied customers. • Our spinners have a slew / spin time of ~2m30s and they have a barely audible spin. This is due to the quality and type of bearings used in the spinner. Researching some discussion threads show that many spinners having ~20s+ slew times. I can only speak for our spinners - I have no idea what the slew time is for those advertised on eBay you are referring to, other than they do not state slew time which could be a concern. Interesting - I have found some spinners with a slew time of around ~10min - although they are retailing for $120+. So in summary - quality is definitely a factor with spinners.

My nephew was showing me his one and raving about the bearing quality. Unless its a brandname bearing (used in scooter or skateboard), or made of metal vs plastic, you can find much cheaper on ebay (still aus seller) as Stussy noted above.

I got a few for $3 ea from Melbourne a few weeks ago via eBay. Gave them to some Aspergers kids at the local school. They loved them (at least for a day).

The bearings were poor. I greased them before giving them out. Then they started to spin well.

Ah the fidget spinner: the craze that wasn't.
The pointless product that no one cares about.

  • +2

Where have these been all my life.

I feel validated - finally - when I see that lovely psychologist talking about the health benefits of my fidgeting ways. Now I can buy overpriced pieces of plastic (& bearings) to enjoy these health benefits, knowing full well I'm going myself good. And what's more important than mental health?

But there's just one problem: I'm too tight to buy one. Here in the ghetto we have traditionally taken care of our mental health by using the clicky-pen. My father did it the same way. And so did his father. Not sure if I can break with tradition.

      (d) does not include tracking information.

      "Cheap crap from China"…..
Speedcube probably just bulk buys from China and resale here with the typical "Au Stock" "High Quality"…

      • -2

As per comment above, our stock is of a good quality spinner - manufactured in China, imported into Australia, and shipped express to you with a money back guarantee. Virtually all goods (over 1000+ toys - mostly different types of Rubik's cubes) are manufactured in China - however as with all things you still get what you pay for - this goes for cubes and spinners.

        • +1

"a good quality spinner" Could you show me the difference between this and a $2 one?

        • @BrodenIt: I have explained above - but restating as you asked again.

Our spinners have a slew / spin time of ~2m30s and they have a barely audible spin. So in summary - quality is definitely a varying factor with spinners. Importantly, our products ship from Australia, and most of our customers experience delivery within days of placing their order. Lastly, we provide a 30 day refund policy if you are not 100% satisfied.

These spinners have been selling well at the full price, as well as the discounted price listed here for OzBargain-ers. Within days we will unfortunately be out of stock for some time.

I bought 3 this week for my nephews and niece, and was sold by what @speedcubecomau had to say regarding the spinners being of good quality. Sadly this wasn't the case. In the hands of a 6 year old the bearings keep popping out whilst being spun. I've attached the video's my nephew sent me of the thing falling apart in his hands

    Faulty Spinner 1
    Faulty Spinner 2
    Faulty Spinner 3

I don't know what to think right now, on the one hand @speedcubecomau seem very confident in their product and on the other I have 3 very disappointed kids.

maybe @speedcubecomau would like to address this

    • Keep us informed.

    • If you have not done so already - please contact us at [email protected] with your order details and we will immediately process a full refund or provide options for replacement.

      Video Analysis: (subjective)
It appears to be single white spinner (unless you ordered multiple white spinners).

Without being able to specifically view the spinner(s) for any obvious defect I can only comment that the steel bearing casing can be 'popped' out or in of the main tri-plastic housing (not recommended to do this as it will wear the plastic in time). In two of the videos - it appears that at least one bearing casing is already semi-popped out before the spin is initiated - add momentum of the spin and the result will be that the steel casing will fully pop out of the casing.

    • re: [maybe @speedcubecomau would like to address this] - @moo182 - we have not been monitoring our customer support emails and have as yet not seen any request come through to resolve this issue other than this post which we really cant do much with as we need to verify that you are a real customer and have purchased one of our spinners. Our phone number is also on our website if email is a problem or you can visit us in store.

We have posted below a video which shows how you can quickly fix this issue in seconds. Looking forward to hearing from you.

    • +1

PJC sorry I was overseas for work.
      heres the tl;dr
rather than go through the rigmarole of returning a sub $20 purchase I have elected to rather take this as an opportunity to call out speedcubecomau on their inferior products. I find it laughable that they have a video on hand on how to "fix your spinner" and incredible that they offer this as a solution for a brand new product. In this country there is a basic expectation that it should work straight from the box, something the chinese have managed to provide.

SPOILER: SPEEDCUBE IS THE GUY SELLING THE INFERIOR PRODUCT.

      DO NOT BUY.

      • Appreciated. I'm sorry it didn't work out.

      • The real easy solution if you have an issue is - assuming the spinners were bought from our store - to request a refund (immediate resolution) or replacement (requires a couple of days for shipping). No rigmarole - a simple email is all it takes.

        • lol

        • @moo182: If that is all it takes, you may as well get a refund.

        • +1

@PJC: it was a gift for my nephews in NSW (im in QLD) its too much hassle for my sister (a single mum) to be bothered by this. besides i honestly dont believe the guy, I mean his first instinct was to call my proof subjective and to offer a video on how to fix the product, and then finally offer a refund. personally i feel like hes calling me a liar. besides having run a successful retail franchise for many years I would have tried to go above and beyond in a public display of good will, rather than offer what i feel to be a totally spurious offer of a refund. but thats just my 5¢. im done with speedcubecomau.
