G'day to all Ozbargainers - I am a fairly new coffee roaster based in Margaret River, WA.
My aim is to provide my customers with interesting, flavoursome 'Single Origin' coffees from around the world.
I believe this is a really good way to sample beans in a 'pure' state and get the true identity and flavours of the coffee shining through.

I have run this promo locally in Margaret River and its been popular so I thought I would open it up to the Ozbargain community!

So what you get is 300 grams of each of the 5 Single Origins I am currently holding in stock. So thats 1.5kg total for $50 delivered.

The selection can be seen here

http://www.twocrackscoffee.com/behind-the-bean/

The discount is fairly competitive I feel. $10 off the coffee and then free postage :)

I am a small batch roaster so each order will be roasted to order with love and care. I am passionate about getting the most out of the beans so you can enjoy them at their peak.

Please feel free to ask any questions. If not on here then you can go via the website

We're used to 2Kg for $50-$60 delivered, your "deal" works out to $66.67/2Kg
So you're 10% overpriced compared to your most expensive OzB competitor.

Thanks for the feedback - yeah I used to buy from Manna Beans - they are well priced ( $59.95 for 2 x 980g inc postage) …I think from memory.
      I am pretty close! haha
Those guys buy by the tonne and shift so much coffee. I run a 2.4kg roaster and buy in 100kg at a time.
      Still - I see your point :)

      • Sweet Yarra and Baybeans still offer deals in the $25/Kg range

        • Haven't seen Sweet Yarra around here for ~3 months - and they no longer have my favourite San Marcos :-(

        • @lostincanberra:
They still do the same deals, just don't advertise it.

        • @scubacoles: I know that they're still around - but I think the prices have gone up a bit. I've ordered some of this 'Two Cracks Coffee' deal - so we shall see. No time to waste - down to the last 0.5kg of Sweet Yarra beans in the house!

I suspect that Ivan felt a bit hard-done-by with some of the less generous comments for the last Sweet Yarra listing. Needs to play a straighter bat and not feed the trolls :-)

        • +1

@lostincanberra: That's a pity, I like his deals.. Get to try a few options.

        • I ordered a batch from Sweet Yarra; was disappointed with the quality and freshness. Better than supermarket (which isn't hard) but not as good as the beans from a local roaster, which come in at $34/kg.

As a result I've been reticent to try online again. But as I'm in WA I'll give Two Cracks a go.

        • @Ayanami:
Are you the same guy who complained that the SYC beans weren't oily and therefore weren't fresh?
The coffee I've bought from him multiple times has been as good or better than the most highly regarded Adelaide roasters.
The good thing about this deal is the order size isn't quite to high.

        • @scubacoles: No, I'm not. I ordered in or about April 2016. Maybe I got bad batch, maybe we have really excellent roasters in WA or maybe their beans just aren't to my taste, I don't know. But I disliked them enough to pay the extra for beans from my local.

Coffee should not be what is cheap. I wouldn't say Manna beans are that great.

But outside of an office, who the hell is going to use this quantity of beans in the time beans should be consumed.

To the OP, you really need to show what the origins are what the processing is. I find it very important to know what brewing method I use (or which of my collection of pour over filters), based on this info. It is not even mentioned on the website.

The other problem I have with purchasing coffee online is roast dates. This really should be shown.

      • +1

Thanks for the feedback - I will look at this and tweak the website to show this information.
All beans are roasted and posted the same day , sometimes the day after.
Beans last longer than you may think. Up to a month if stored properly.

I do have other amounts available on the website - let me know what you would like to try and we can sort something out :)

        cheers

  • +3

If viable for you, would prefer a deal with 3 bags instead of 6, as it will get stale by the time most will use 1kg.

    • +2

Hi there - thanks for the feedback. The beans will take 5-15 days to reach 'peak' after roasting. Then you can keep them 2-3 weeks after that in the resealable bags kept in a pantry type environment. Or share the goodies with friends and family :)

      cheers!

      • +1

One double shot espresso based drink daily - 250g bag lasts me about two weeks. I agree with blackwalnut, for some of us 3 bags at once is plenty.

        • +2

Only one?? You need to step it up! haha

I will take this onboard for the next promo - thanks :)

  • What is a strictly hard bean? One of your beans says that.

    • +2

Hi there - its just a reference to the altitude its grown at - > 1350m above sea level

      cheers.

      • +1

Fro my understanding and to add to that altitude in beans roughly correlates to "better beans"

The theory being the higher altitude the coffee is grown, the longer it takes to fruit. The longer it takes to fruit, the more energy is put into the bean and the more dense it becomes = longer to roast but more flavour

        • They are definately a bit different ..in a good way. I dont push these as far in the roast. Thanks for that additional info.:)

  • +2

i like that you pack your beans into 250g bags.
sometimes that is worth 10% more as you are able to try different beans.
having said that i just ordered my 1-2 months supply. so maybe next time for me.

    • +1

Thanks for that - its a good way to broaden coffee horizons for sure.
Cheers and see you next time! :)

  • +3

Awesome little setup you have there and I do love the idea of little sampler bags like this. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

    • +1

      Nice one mate - thanks!

  • Are those coffee beans roasted for filter coffee (pour over method) or espresso ?

    • +2

Hi there - I tend to roast right up to second crack for most beans , some just before.
They are all suitable for both techniques though. Cheers!

  • +3

Nice webpage and products - good luck OP

    • Thank you!

  • +1

I'm tempted as I'm running out of my current beans. What shipping method do you use? AusPost? And how soon do you send them out after purchase?

    • +2

Yes I will put the 6 bags of coffee into an Aus Post satchel. I will be posting out on wednesday.
      Have a crack! :)

      Cheers!

      • +2

        Ok, I did!

        • +2

          thank you!

    'Single Origin' coffees

I thought you said it was from two cracks?

  • This is probably blasphemy to coffee aficionados, but do you have the option for ground beans? I don't have a grinder. I'm in margs today, do you have a shop front?

  • +2

Always good to see a new roaster, welcome aboard!
I just bought a few from Mana, but happy to check you guys out next time. I like single origin beans as well, not sure why I prefer it, but I do!
+ I also ask for a smaller batch option next time. 6 bags is a lot of coffee. I love my coffee, but I only have one or two a day.

    • Thanks - I'm really enjoying roasting single origins - so much variety!
I will keep that in mind for the next promo :)

      Cheers!

  • +1

Thanks all for the feedback, both constructive and positive. This is such a good platform to gain exposure and float ideas.
Cheers for those of you who put orders in - I appreciate it!
Now to try and get onto the front page of Ozbargain! How do I get there?? :)

    Thanks!

    • +1

      You are on it.

And don't believe everyone, 1.5kg is not too much at once.

      • +1

Nice one! Well everyone has varying degrees of caffeine dependancy - I know I would get through 1.5kg in a month quite easily! :)

        Cheers!

  • +1

Sounds quite reasonable. However i do agree with 1kg being enough but i do like to support a small company so when hubby is home from site, ill jump on and do a purchase.

    • Thank you for your support! :)

  • Do/will you do any offerings with a guarantee of provenance along the lines of fair trade or similar?

    • +1

Hi there - yes I am aiming to eventually source all my beans from fair trade plantations. I am well aware of some of the bad practices going on in the coffee industry. Its already much better that is used to be. I will also add this to the website along with more specific origin and processsing information.

      Thanks!

    • +1

As far as i understand it fair trade is a good start but look for companies that support "direct trade" which actually goes back to the farmer and workers.

Fair trade basically agrees to pay more for the coffee beans ( so lets say $5/kg for example, where the average is less $4/kg . Problem being bean prices can fluctuate so when bean prices go up its not such a good deal

  • +1

I also bought some in support of the small business. I was hoping for 2kgs but 1.5kg isnt too bad, anything less than 1.5kg and it wouldn't be worth it for us as we go through it like butter.

    • Hi there - thanks for your order and support! Feel free to order more …up to 3KG will still be free postage! Cheers :)

  • +1

Looks like a good deal buddy, currently got quite allot of coffee to drink but will be jumping in next time. Im a fan of the 250g bag deals! just the right amount

Website looks good! only feedback i can give is maybe put things like process ( washed, natural etc ) altitude etc. Im a bit of a geek and like to know these things.

    Goodluck!

    • Thanks for that - yep , the website is still in its infancy but I will be adding important information like that soon!
      Cheers for the support :)

  • +1

All the best with your new business 2craxcfe.

    • Cheers for that!

  • +2

    Hi rep,
How long will this promo last?
I'm keen to try some of these single origins but my current supply will probably last me 2-3 weeks.

    • +4

Hi there - I'll keep it going for a while. Get those coffees cranking! haha
      Cheers!

      • +1

ok cool, just pulled the trigger! I figured it'll take about a week for the beans to degas/develop anyhow :)
        look forward to sampling

        • Cheers for that… Roasted and posted mate! Enjoy

  • +2

Hi all… Just an update. I have tweaked the website and added some more information about the beans…. As some of you kindly suggested. Thanks! :)

  • +2

All orders posted out… Hope you enjoy and thanks for your support. Really appreciate it! Cheers

    • Hi. Do you have tracking numbers or do we think that Auspost are sending out their mules? Thought it may have arrived by now.

      • Hey mate - what was your order number? I'll check. Cheers

        • +1

          All OK just arrived. Thanks.

        • +1

          @cornbeef: Great! Enjoy :)

  • +2

Hope the deals continue - I'm (sadly) off coffee until bub is born in about seven weeks (I can't handle the heartburn). As soon as he's out I'll be making up for lost time!
Good to see a new small batch roaster on OB.

  • +1

Hi my fellow coffee lovers…. Just tweaked the deal as I ran out of the Guatemalan.
    It's now 5 x 300g of the five coffees.
Same amount and still free postage.
    Cheers!

  • +1

Just ordered, gave it a crack to see how different the beans taste through my new machine (BES920). Looking forward to trying it!

    • Order received - thanks!
Will roast and post wednesday for you. :)

  • +3

$50 less $13.80 (Australia Post postage) = $40 / 1.5 kg = $24.13/kg. Other suppliers charge extra when there are small packages so this "deal" is more than reasonable.

    • Thank you :)

  • +1

Put an order in last night. I'm a big fan of Manna Beans, but need an order now. Looking forward to trying these beans.

    • +1

Thanks for the order.. The goods will be with you in few days.

      Cheers and enjoy :)

You got the last order… I'm out of stock!

New menu will be up on the site soon.

  • +3

Hi all, I have sold out of those beans now.. Mainly thanks to all you guys.
Stoked with the number of keen and educated coffee fans about willing to try new ones out and support small business.

The new menu will be posted online soon.
I will work out another deal for you all… And actually your feedback and ideas could shape the deal format and price.
Let me know what you want and how much etc.
All feedback and constructive comments welcome!

    Cheers again all.
Hope you are enjoying the coffee!

    Regards
