    whats the iq?

  • YouTube infomercial HERE
Without ever thinking of needing one, this looks okay. Especially as a space saving substitute to a conventional oven.

    • yeah, some multirise inner city apartment s don't have ovens anymore to save space ….. agent says most people eat out so just need a kitchenette ……..

    • "It lets me adjust the size of the pizza I'm cooking"…..I'M IN!

  • Wait for the update version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLDBkaSWyV8&t=28s

That is an entirely different oven, not an update.
The BOV845BSS is an update of the BOV800XL.
The Air you're linking too is 6" taller and 10" deeper, massively bigger. You can see the US price difference too, USD $120 more for the the Air. BOV800XL $249, BOV845BSS $279, BOV900BSSUSC $399

I know I'm not comparing like with like. This device is a substitute oven. We looked at this a little while ago and passed it up for a whirlpool crisp/grill/microwave (ie. it does more than the breville). Have a look here,

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/whirlpool-29l-crisp-and-grill…

We really liked things like the defrost. I can defrost 1kg of mince, steam vegetables etc. I can also do many of th things the Br ville can (eg. pizza).

I liked the Whirlpool because it was one device that did so much more. If you're worried about bench space (or just want a very capable crisp/grill/Microwave), have a look at this unit. It's more expensive but it was much better for our needs than the Breville.

I know, not like for like. I only mentioned it because I considered this Breville unit and passed it up.

    • Similar post in the other two posts for this Breville unit too, and another reply about those Convection Microwaves. As you say, different beasts, and I guess great if you only want to have one device, but from all reports, they don't come remotely close to the final results for items you do want to have baked.
I guess if I didn't have a microwave, and were quite space limited, then I would jump on something like you did.

We've had one of these for years and it's been brilliant! Preheats really fast too. I rarely use the big oven anymore unless I'm doing a large batch of baking.

    • Vote it up so others know it's good too

    • I've only had mine for a few weeks.
But I think @flipsahoy nailed it.

  • I got a bigger/ older version for my mum about 6yrs ago, it's great, my mum always uses it & never uses our big oven.

Can do must things, its fast & easy to use.

Only con is when u use it cockroach will be seen on the timer element & will stay there & die.

thats a plus in my books

  • Yeap, great ovens. We use ours daily for the last 4 years for all cooking (and we cook a lot) from toast to baking, to Roasts. Saves using big oven. Heats up very quickly thus saves a lot of power. Not for larger families or large roasts due to smaller size. Tempting to replace with Shiney new one as the optional fan force broke on ours last year. Works fine without the fan, so will hold off. Decent price.

  • Still don't understand why Combi-microwaves aren't more common (or affordable) here.
In the Netherlands I had a combi oven, could bake and roast like a normal oven, but microwave too.

They were only about EU200 ($300).

    • We used to have a combo and to be honest are a differnt beast. As we cook a lot have this and a Microwave which we use side by side at the same time. We also found the combos were nowhere as good compared to these which have cooking elements top and bottom and not just an oven. I suppose it comes down to what one is cooking.

  • Looking around I found this similar sized Cuisinart steam oven which gets good reviews. I got it for $259 with the code ANNIVERSARY20
