    Didn't work for me

  • Got the same email
Obviously they knew i flew with a different carrier last time :)

Must be targeted. They probably noticed I was ripping into them on their fb page about stealing from their customers who were entitled to a refund… and also mentioning how Jetstar are almost always cheaper.

If this is applicable to sale fares it might be useful, but if it's 20% off full price, that's a slight joke.

Works for me, but it's only 20% off the base fare excluding taxes, baggage etc. In effect about 10% off the standard fare.

Travel period: 5 Sep - 17 Dec 2017. Embargo period applies.

On a side note, if you are travelling to KUL (without checked baggage) it is often cheaper to book one way flights to a third destination that transits through KUL. For example, if I want to travel from MEL-KUL then book a ticket MEL to HKT and simply don't catch the connecting flight when you arrive at KUL. See what's on special or hit up google flights.

    • What do you do with the return journey? Would I need to buy a ticket from HKT to MEL?

      • Just book one way tickets Zealmax. With AirAsia it isn't a huge premium to book one way tickets as opposed to return, but crunch the numbers. There's this website called skipplagged - their website is dedicated to this type of booking. It's great for North America but not so relevant for our part of the world

        • Often it works out cheaper to book 2 one-way tickets, especially if using Citibank plus (No currency exchange fees). Booking MEL-HKT and not using the connecting flight sounds so bad. Think of the people waiting on the plane for the missing PAX!! I wouldn't do it. I like to keep my slate clean.

        • @Peck: Airasia wacks $10 admin fee, unless you pay with paypal.

        • @zealmax: Yep I pay with Citibank Signature CC (Giving free travel insurance even for one-way bookings) and through Paypal. The return leg does not have a paypal option, but still works out cheaper for 2 one way bookings.

        • @Peck: I better give it a go. Thanks.

  • it's working!

    • for some date normal rate is cheaper. lol-

when these guys flew ADL to KL direct i was in love. But like the grand prix and jimmy barnes, we were left for dead.

  • it works but the code disables the option to add value pack to the flight

Just be aware of the walking distances involved at KLIA2. It's shocking the distance involved in regards to KUL-PER. I was in time (I thought) to easily make my flight home last month but missed it. The immigration was chocker block and, alas, the queue I joined had the most idle Officer- he was doing one person to the other's 3-4. Allow a minimum 2+ hours. I vale the loss of LCCT. Easy to manoeuvre with a cheap food court opposite and for a cheap beer would walk to the Tune Hotel and sit under the trees at the 7/11. No, not like an old warb, but tables and chairs

KLIA2 is a shocker. The distance one has to walk to the departure lounge to their
Airbus 330 bays. Travelled last week. Remember to bring your own bottles now.
They don't sell bottles of water any more in the airport, only drinking water in
sealed plastic cups. Pour out water from bottle before security check and hopefully
you find one of the few water fountains with enough pressure to fill up your bottle.
Air Asia sells water more expensive than petrol in bottles.

KLIA2 provide those golf carts which are more often than not, used to cart their own
staff from one end to another. Or carts are always being charged.

And Air Asia X Airbus 330 is getting so old: just look at the seats and trays. They
run their planes literally non-stop except for 90 minutes for disembarkation, refuel,
restock and new load at each airport.
Hope they are strict with their aircraft maintenance schedule.

Air Asia are pretty good, but this is a BIGGIE when it comes to bad points. The distances (Especially if in transit and going to Gate L(#?) And the Immigration are lazy belligerent buggers. Half of them standing around, scratching themselves, picking their noses, looking at the long queues, and just now and then one will open up a new booth.

  • I tried but it doesn´t show the discounted money…does it appear after you complete the details? I just wanted to check before book.

Where do you put the code?

    • +1

I couldn't find where it goes either??

    • +1

When you search for airfares on the main page, on the bottom right ride of the box it says "enter promo code"

Then when you search is shows the price with a line through it and then the discounted price.

  • I also got an email from AirAsia saying that they had a sale on Redemptions, but all of the content of the email was missing. Someone stuffed up!

  • Why so much hate for air asia?

I have a trio to KUL comingup soon…. First time with them in almost 10 years.

    • You'll be finding out soon then!

    • +1

AirAsia are good value for money. KLIA2 is 'shite'.

  • Yes KLIA 2 poor customs etc. last year line was about 15 wide and 40+ deep! Huge groups were heckling, obviously super worried they were going to miss flights. The officer processing supposedly 2 lines took offence when the other local stepped in front of me. I had my wife and x3 kids with me and I was not in a huge hurry (but we stood in that line no less than 30 minutes). If it had have happened outside of his work hours, with he and I alone let's just say egos would have been shattered real slow like too. ARRIVE SOOPER EARLY

  • I got that email twice yesterday. Once at 4am and then again at 11am. Both contain the same info.
Valid from 4th of May until 10th of May.
Travel between 5 Sep and 17 Dec 2017.
Not sure what this "embargo period" is all about though…. just Googled and Air Asia Embargo period = festive season, public holiday, weekend, etc.

I thought it was just me getting this email two days after I booked a flight to KL. Was annoyed with that!! But looks like they sent the email to all AirAsia subscribers.
Hmmm, I might have to book another trip somewhere.

Thanks to everyone for posting the info on KLIA2. I now know what I'm in for. Will get there early. Cheers and happy travels!! :D

  • Thanks - just booked some flights for hubby and his mates. Pity their baggage fees are so high. At least their meals are cheap!
