Confirming from an NBN 100mbit 5.2gb took me just under 8 mins to grab :)
@AlienC: You might as well:
- fly to Brisbane (1.5 hours)
- copy the game files from Gomo (5 minutes)
- play a few 1v1 games with Gomo (2 hours)
- beat up Gomo for being a dirty cheater (10 minutes)
- fly back to Sydney (1.5 hours)All in all it would only take 5 hours and 15 minutes, less than the 6 hours estimated for you to download it yourself.

I'm currently Master rank, but unfortunately I fit into the description of Veteran but combined with the 'You're not good enough for ___' from Legend/Rocketeer's description (although it's usually in the form of 'Aren't you Master?' / 'You're pretty shit for Master rank')…

Yeah, I know they mean nothing; they're a measure of how much you've played, not how good you are. Still doesn't stop comments from random teammates in casual.
@spaghettiman: Nah, the comments don't really bother me (besides, I usually do better than those commenting anyway). Only shows how salty the other players are; it's casual ffs.
@CarbonTwelve: I'm Rocketeer and in Gold 2 div 2 (<—- this is actually the 5th plane of Hell) and I get comments daily about how I'm the worst Rocketeer in the history of the game. LOL

- Recently this game stuffed up for me, took me back 10 levels & lost all my car presets and pretty much launched my game as a fresh new copy, tried following their trouble shooting steps but no luck, so am down 10 levels and without my car presets.

For some reason my rocket league downloaded from the xbox one free weekend multi-player a few months back still works. I've never bought the game, and I can still open the game and play.
At least buy some DLC or keys to give something to Psyonix. They deserve it.

This game is great! Very non-commital so easy to fit into a busy lifestyle :P
Under 10 minutes a game, it's great to just play for 30min a day if that's all you have time for.

Change the default controls early as the default controls are terrible.
@Piranha2004: I use an X360 controller. The default for that is bad as there's some controls you can't hit at the same time which you need to. I'm sure there's a good layout for the steam controller available.
It's also worth changing all your camera settings to something that suits you.

Is a controller a necessity in this game, will you get dumpstered with Keyboard+Mouse controls?
It's not a necessity, but it's definitely considered an easier way to play. Most pros will use controllers (but some will even use KBM). It's all on personal preference.
You won't get dumpstered - the controller just allows for far finer control. KB/M allows for only max rate of turn/acceleration etc since the button is off/on only, whereas the controller's thumbsticks and L/R triggers allow you to vary your rate of turn or acceleration with gradual input. Particularly this makes aerial play easier, but impacts most aspects.
For this reason it's mostly recommended to pick up a controller early on if you intend to pick one up at all, as the way you play the game changes and you'd have to relearn a bit when switching.
By no means is it required though, it's a bit more difficult with the limitations but it's certainly possible to be good with KB/M. No harm in seeing if you like the game enough to pick a controller up, you'll be just fine while starting on KB/M or even forever like some people.
This is a-whole-nother level of hectic on PC. Please somebody tell me if I can reduce input lag from Xbox to get closer to the PC version. Is it a TV thing or console limitation? I am level 52 on Xbox and on steam I am making all kinds of aerial moves that I dare not make on the Xbox, flipping before I've even registered that I've pressed the button a second time..
I'd play on Steam but I have to run the worst possible quality settings with Intel 520 graphics :(
Input lag from TV. Gaming mode? Disable sync?
Yeah I've tried game mode, it just seems to disable noise reduction and smooth motion. No idea what sync is, maybe my TV is just garbage.
Sorry I meant vsync. Not sure if that's a video option on RL xbox but disabling vsync in games helps the input lag.
@spaghettiman: Wow, can't believe I hadn't seen that before.. I just assumed that it would have been optimised for the system. Also discovered I can turn off rain which kept lagging me on one map. Not quite at PC levels of responsiveness but feels better already. Neat! Thank you.
@AngryAlfred: Yep it's insane. I played on console on TV and was stuck in challenger 1-3 in season 3. Played on PC and got to superstar hahaha
