Samsung BD-C6500 Blu-ray Player with Internet TV $197 (Save $250) @ The Good Guys

100

Samsung BD-C6500 Blu-ray Player for $197 (Save $250) @ The Good Guys. Cheapest online that I could find was $319.

Has built in wireless N, Internet TV, USB host, 1 GB internal storage, DVD-upscaling and compatible with 7.1 surround systems.

Current apps include Blockbuster, Netflix, and Vudu movie streaming, Pandora Internet radio, Accuweather.com, Picasa Web Albums, YouTube, and USA Today. You also get an integrated Twitter client although text entry with the remote control keypad is slow.

Decent reviews eg. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2362515,00.asp

I can't confirm whether this deal is at all stores but it is definitely at the Gepps Cross store in Adelaide, SA. Deal ends on 13th September.

If you're willing to set up a VPN with a US IP, then arrange a US residential address to register with the services and a credit card from a US bank to pay the monthly fees, and you're willing to break the terms of use for the services, then yes. :-)

      Otherwise, no.

  • Internet TV is nothing special. Most of the 'aps' are in 'coming soon' state or not available here. All you get is some basic text pages only. Dont buy Samsung just for the internet TV.
Check your warranty as well. Our Samsung Home Theatre that came with the TV has been back for repair 2x in the past 6 weeks.

I paid the same for a lower Samsung model. This one has built-in wifi, which is good. Samsung supports a lot of formats, including divx, xvid, etc., straight off USB media. I don't think the Sony ones support those formats, which was why I went with Samsung.

      The sony reportedly plays…..

      File format Extensions :
      MPEG-1 Video/PS MPEG-2 Video/PS, TS
      “.mpg,” “.mpeg,”
      “.m2ts,” “.mts”

      DivX
      “.avi,” “.divx”

      MPEG-4 AVC
      “.mkv,” “.mp4,”
      “.m4v,” “.m2ts,”
      “.mts”

      WMV9
      “.wmv,” “.asf”

      AVCHD

      • Ok, that's pretty decent. The model I looked at in the shop at the time didn't play these formats. All else being equal, I would then be biased to a Sony over Samsung.
