So pruce match against scoot if their cheaper (-10%) then pay online with gift card (-5%) Haha your a genius mentioning the gift card ruse.. wrong person this was meant for Neil

Yep, you can only buy them in $50 and $100 denominations so you'll never get the exact amount so slightly less than 5%.
Price match. Just got to make sure the flights are within an hour of each other. So for Melbourne, you can price match on the way over, 12PM flight on Scoot, 11:10AM on Jetstar however on the way back Scoot leaves at 1AM and Jetstar around 9PM no dice.
Extras like bags, seat selection, meals are comparable but Jetstar is slightly cheaper.
Thanks Neil but in hindsight being an old fart and never traveling for less than 3 weeks OS at any time, I must rely on Visa freebie CC travel insurance. Although my budget hotel costs in Malaysia (I'd never stay in SIN) would easily go over the minimum of $250 to qualify. All of my previous flights have been price match vs others so I'm up with the conditions. Thanks for responding

Good catch. So I guess if you wanted to price match the 1AM flight you would have to book the 9PM flight (20 hours ahead) for the same day instead of the closer flight of 9PM the previous day (4 hours before).

Let the buyer beware. Check Jetstar FB page to gauge the current flood of delays and random cancellations along with their cabin baggage nazis weighing wallets, handbags and scarves to force you over their 7kg limit, even by a few hundred grammes, to enable extraction of $50 penalty from your credit card. It seems that their Dresmliners are about as reliable as a 2 bob watch. Don't expect any help from them if they delay or screw your travel plans.

No credit card fees for using price match-now that's the WINNER. A further saving of $17. Price match was once many years ago was a phone call-all done within 15 minutes. Now it's online chat which could take up to 45 minutes pending when you chat. Beware that the payment link sent is not android friendly, well at least not with my Samsung.
