    • Nope this is the one with the standard 3.5mm headphone jack. These came with the iPhone 5 to iPhone 6S

They're not the best earphones you can buy, but they're probably the best earbuds with an inline mic and button that works with both iOS and Android (volume won't work on Android).

  • Do these have the option to switch songs on ipod shuffle?

  • Anyone had experience on how hard it will be to get a refund if they are not genuine? I would hate to buy these and realise they are the same as the $1 ones sold on eBay

  • Thanks to peaks2006, I just bought one yesterday. Today got an email from Dick Smith that my order has been shipped, along with the tracking number. Will let you all know when the product arrives, if it is genuine or fake. If the quality of the material and the sound is same as that of the earpods I have which I got with my iPhone 6S, then I will assume that it's genuine.

    • Just got the earpods today by eparcel.

After looking at them I can say they are genuine. Exactly same as the one I got with my iPhone6S.
Same quality material on the cord and connectors and volume click buttons, same soft touch feel.
The quality of earpods too the same. Quality of sound too same.

I can't think of any reason why they would be fake. Even the box in which it comes is of the same quality as the one I got with the phone. I am happy to have made this purchase.

And this experience of shopping with Dick Smith was smooth, quick and reliable.

      • The fakes are big business. If you knew how many they are selling (one vendor that sold me 3 pairs had sold 1400 of them (ie 4200 pairs) with just one eBay listing.

But if you're sure, it's good news.

Anything less than $45 a pair is much fairer when you wear them out like we do.

BTW, perhaps test by placing your old ones in the new box. Then flick them from side to side. Do they move in the same way or does one catch a little more/get a little stuck?

FYI: To physically tell the fakes I got apart, I had to use a micrometer to measure the wires, it was the only way to physically tell other than weighing them. But the remote did feel different too. To me, the sound quality is like night and day- however they were better than I thought.

  • Thanks, picked up a pair for my daughter.

Just received the earpods, looks like it's shipped locally from Sydney.
    Some photos first!

    • After listening, sounds genuine, similar audio quality as my old Earpods

      • Press the volume buttons, the very obvious clicking noise is a fake, the apple ones are quite subtle

        • Not on the earpods I received, they feel the same as the ones I got with iPhone 6S

  • I think if you are just sold the packaging like is shown on the Kogan website I tend to think the item is fake, just like the ones that I bought from a Vodafone kiosk that only sold me EarPods with the case only. I think if you purchase original apple ones you will get proper packaging, printed materials and of course apple stickers

    • I too thought the same as you, before I made this purchase.

But after getting the product I can say it's genuine earpods. The picture in Kogan website doesn't show a clear apple logo because the box is covered with plastic, maybe to protect the box from scratches.

Just because they don't include the original paper packaging, printed materials or stickers, doesn't mean they are fake.

      • The genuine counterfeits have the logo too. However even the box is marginally different in ways that are very hard to tell.
