  • 6 gigs of RAM probably means it's running in single channel mode. Still, 6GB is a very odd config..

Also TechTablets.com noted the EZBook Pro3 has an M.2 Slot (yay!)

…, but has a terrible quality keyboard:

EZBook 3 is disappointing, the main issue is the bad keyboard flex which was an issue on the EZBook 2, is still present on the EZBook 3 resulting in a very average typing experience. Other things like only having wireless N and not wireless AC worked against the EZBook 3’s score when compared to the Chuwi Lapbook 14.1. Thermals on the other hands are great on the Jumper, Chuwi could learn a thing or two from them and include some copper as a heatsink.

    • +2
      1. This model of the Ezbook 3 Pro does not have an M.2 Slot. A 2nd batch is coming soon (already available on Jumper Aliexpress store, but slightly more expensive) that does provide this slot.
      2. That TechTablets review is for the EzBook 3 (non-pro), which is a cheaper plastic laptop. This model is all aluminium so would presumably not have the keyboard flex issue. AFAIK no reviews of this model are available yet as it is very new.

I've been watching this laptop, and this sale is the cheapest it has been. A little risky to buy before some reviews come out, and some people may prefer waiting for the release with the M.2 SSD slot, but it is an excellent price for a Full HD aluminium laptop.

      • Cool, thanks for the correction.

Update: According to Jumper the first batch will come with no SSD expansion M.2 slot and the second batch with M.2 SSD slot is due on the 20th. In China it’s known as the EZbook Pro, but will sell outside of China as the EZBook 3 Pro.

        • The M.2 slot would be very handy considering this only comes with 64GB of (presumably slow) eMMC storage and Windows 10 takes up ~10GB. However at this sale price it is very tempting just to buy this model, and rely on SD card or external USB storage.

Only other minor drawback of this laptop is the lack of AC wi-fi, and it appears the webcam mic is near the keyboard which is an annoying design choice.

    • +1

it's running in single channel mode

How will we ever live with that 1% performance loss?

      • if you plan on doing anything that’s going to stress the integrated HD Graphics, going dual channel memory does make a pretty big difference.

I doubt anyone will buy this for games, but it might mean being able to play some casual stuff like Dota or Minecraft at a slightly more acceptable framerate.

    • It is not actually 6GB, the graphics card is taking 2GB out of the 8GB ram leaving only 6GB for system usage. I suppose u can adjust the size if 2GB on graphics is an overkill for you.

      • Huh? Anyway to confirm the RAM configuration? 8GB would be a big improvement over the 4GB standard in this class of laptops.

  • This or the $319 Dell https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/306220 ?
This has a slightly larger and Full HD screen which is tempting….but performance may be a bit slower?

    • This Jumper has a slightly faster / newer processor but slower storage.

The screen is so much nicer though… 1366 x 768 is much more pixelated than 1080p, but you might not notice that on a 11.6 inch display. Depends on your eyesight.

There will be a new Jumper as discussed above that will have M.2, which you can throw in an SSD of your own to increase storage perf.

      • Thanks scrimshaw, I might hold out for the new Jumper with M2. The 11.6 inch screen on the Dell is too small for my ageing eyes ;)

  • i got the onda xiamao 14 for $350ish and its awesome with no heat issues

  • How does something like this compare? I've got no idea about these things

    http://m.gearbest.com/laptops/pp_589983.html?wid=21

    • Last line of description is "SIM slot is just useless"
So wouldn't buy one for this…

  • Damn I just ordered the Ezbook 3 from Gearbest two days ago for $253. Seems like the extra $40 would have been worth it just for the aluminum body 😫

    • Gearbest are notoriously slow shippers - might be worth contacting them and trying to switch your order to the Pro model

      • They shipped my order last night, of course I'm the exception that it would ship out so quick 😐

Guess I'll just have to try and think of it as $40 saved

  • just bought on of these to try, never had eMMC drive before so interested to see how it fares.

  • AU$319.83 now?

  • Missed this but 9600 mAH battery? did i read that right? Does this thing last for 10+ hours then? I mean I already thought 4000-5500 mah was alot of mid range standard laptops battery capacity - this things huge!

Never heard or used of emc hard drive storage, is this similar to flash style hard drive storage? Or am I getting confused?

Seems to be a lot of ram and the cpu - obviously this is an atom so would it be classified as more a netbook style powering cpu? Be keen to know how these cheaper chinese brand ones hold up. Bang for buck given the price?

    • Yep have a look at some of the reviews of the this one and the Ezbook 2 and 3, people have tested them with video loops etc and have had them last for over 8 hours

  • 9600 mAH battery?

    yes

emc hard drive storage, is this similar to flash style hard drive storage?

    yes

    this is an atom

next gen atom. for <$300this is a pretty decent machine.

  • Anyone else keep having their dispatch date knocked back?

  • Not as such but they had an issue with the length of my delivery address… and when I enquired about the status a few days ago they responded with:

Thank you for contacting Gearbest about your order.

This is an update about the following item:
    210285901 * 1 , Jumper EZBOOK 3 PRO Notebook
We are sorry to inform you that this item is no longer available .

Yet they're still selling the same item on their website…

    • That sucks, no big loss that i missed out then. If it's any consolation i received my Ezbook 3 pretty quick and for $250, it's pretty sweet for something i'm just going to use when i travel. Worth a look into.

      • I pointed out that they're still selling the same item and to just send me one out of that stock, so now:

We are pleased to inform you that your ordered item have in stock now,we will ship it as soon as possible.
Please kindly wait 1-2 working days.

        • Ah, good outcome!

        • @Chickenleg: I wasn't going to count my chickens before they hatched, and today they've said

Unfortunately, we regret to inform you that due to an issue with the suppliers, we can no longer ship this item to you as it is now unavailable. We are taking measures to ensure that this issue does not happen again.

And yet they're still sellling the same item on their website, showing 100 units available.

        • @quop: This has been a rollercoaster of emotions
