  • Wow, you could split the kits and sell parts on Ebay and make some pocket money if you have the spare time.

The same could be said for any type of item that comes in a set or package or kit…….
Spanners / sockets / drill bits
      Knives / saucepans
      Cutlery / dinnerware
      Makeup
      Lego
      Suitcases
      DVD box sets
      Garden tools
      Book sets
      Hampers
      Glassware
      Perfume

If 8 stores are selling it for this price, isn't that the normal price for this item?

    • Two of them you'll save $1 ;)

      • 0.25% cheaper isn't exactly a bargain.

        • -1

          its not a barloss

    • I explained the rrp reasoning below although not 100% sure of that..

The reason for sharing serval stores was more a considerate 'add on' due to the fact that some people may live closer to one store over a another. Thus saving time.

Also, if a particular store was out of stock you could hopefully get it from another store mentioned above.

      • I explained the rrp reasoning below

you can't compare bundle pricing to individual pricing.

        • That wasn't my reasoning for the RRP :) That was my reason why I thought it was a good deal as a pack/kit…

I think it is one of those one off promotional deals where they bring out something for sale as a once off or in preparation for stock take. Again, not 100% sure though.

Appreciate the effort of posting - but - where is the bargain compared the standard RRP via any of the normal market players?

    • This does indeed appear to be normal price.

      • That kit is not the same quality. You'll notice in the head section a major difference. Not to mention the quality (or lack thereof) in the material used for the gears..

  • Damn bunnings hasn't got the same model.

    • -1

That's a good thing if Bunnings doesn't sell the same model. 99% of Bunnings tools are cheaper/inferior models to your better quality ones.

    • With a lot of the Makita cordless tools Bunnings use different model numbers so they don't have to price match. ie. DHP changes to BHP etc.

      • -1

Actually not true at all. But you can believe that if you want ;)

      • +1

They're different model numbers because they aren't the same thing. The shell might look the same, but they're poorer quality components inside. Better off spending your money on the real stuff from a proper tool shop.

        • @kapone - My point exactly, but obviousbly not accepted by Kaboomxyu.. lol

        • +1

Yep, and battery/charger isn't LXT range. When Makita were doing 2.0ah the Bunnings ones were only 1.0ah. When Mak went to 3, Bunnings ones changed to 1.3ah!

          @Snoop:
Yep. Total ripoff. Yet people still love Bunnings (despite them being more expensive, and completely destroying the retail hardware industry).

    Bargain or advertising??
    Associated member??

I don't understand going to the effort of posting all the comparisons when this is clearly a widely available price and not a bargain?? :/

    • +1

Not associated with any form of tool company. Had been looking for a while over Christmas and for a brushless kit like the above i couldn't find anything better than 599.. I think this is a promotional special that Makita may have brought out in preparation for "stock take" sales.. But i could be wrong.

Ultimately i thought it was a good price and although i don't know the exact retail price for the kit, individually you're saving 100s.. So i thought it warranted a bargain for someone out there looking at drills.

Happy to be proven wrong if it isn't considered a bargain?

  • No deal. Standard price.

    • For the money I would buy these.

    • Great price but I don't know much about tools let alone the AEG brand. If they are comparible to your known brands then it's a really good buy!

  • -1

Not a bargain. Most stores sell around this RRP.

  • No emotional attachment here. It is either useful for some that are looking at this kind of drill combo kit, or not. I thought it was a great price but no problem if others don't think it's a bargain.
