  • Price???
    Oops… saw it just after I posted…My bad. :)

  • Not too shabby at all if you're after a Sony! ;)

  • +2

Seems like a relatively "sane" price for a Sony laptop for once!

    Good job edw0000000!

  • is it normal to have battery life of 1 hour? :O

    whats the bargain-omter on this? :P 80%?

    • Full HD screen, with a HD5650.. 1 hour use although short is about right.

  • this is an amazingly good deal…a sony vaio + a 1TB hp hdd for 999..
wonder how is the warranty like? If its got any problems ,do i send it to Sony or 9289?

    • All retailers in Australia have at least 12 months RTB warranty.

All goods sold by 9289 come with a standard one-year back to base manufacturer warranty, it can only be shorter if a special note is mentioned about an item. Computer systems built by 9289 carry a standard one year parts and one year's labour warranty (unless otherwise specified).

    • Any Australian retailer is bound by the Trades Practices Act. Essentially means they must offer replacement or refund if an item purchased from them fails before it would be reasonably expected (eg if a nice new TV failed within 2 years they would have to refund/replacement).
This is by law and no retailer is exempt from it regardless of what they write on their website etc (or what the manufacturer of the item states for that matter)

  • If only this was an i5 i'd be tempted…

    • i5 would be nice but not at the cost of a full HD screen and a decent graphics card.

  • if only i hadn't bought the toshiba two weeks ago

    • so this is a good deal? + it!!! so everyone else know if its a good deal or not :)

      • +1

This is a good deal. It's hard to find a full HD vaio laptop at this price.

  • bit the bullet and got 1

    STARCRAFT 2 HERE I COME!

    • 5650 running a full HD game of SC2 is not going to be pretty :/

  • "Upgradeable to 8GB" is that means there have 4G DDR3 RAM x 1 inside? how many memory slot do this notebook have ?

    • No. Usually it means you can take out the 2x2GB modules and upgrade to 2x4GB should you want to.

      • Thanks~but it's too late….sold out….

  • sold out already? I just got one :O

must have gotten the last one or something :S

  • a lil too big.. but it's a SONY

  • +4

Sony warranty is absolutely horrible. It's faster if you contact Sony directly but they're quite dodgy. They tried to tell me that I need to drop off the laptop at the service centre in Ryde when I KNEW for a fact warranty covers courier pick up. Their call centre and the service centre itself both tried to claim this and didn't back down until I told them I was positive it was covered and they realised they couldn't pull the wool over my eyes. My speakers would make a really loud buzzing noise and any audio played would become inaudible. The service centre tried to claim there was no physical hardware fault and suggested that I pay them to format the laptop to "see if that fixes the issue". The whole experience really left a sour taste in my mouth and I was not impressed with their standard of service at all.

  • This price is a bargain in terms of Sony price. However, as an ex-VAIO laptop user, I would say SONY computers are usually not very well designed, though it's quality appears to be good.

  • Full HD resolution…wow. This ought to wake up all other laptop manufacturers to reconsider their puny screen resolutions.

    • And for glasses manufacturers to get ready for a new wave of people requiring them.

  • any chance of another deal like this?
