    TOP ADVICE
Never buy a ring from cash converters since they are rings of REJECTION

    • +3

They are rings of dead love.

    • +7

They might be rings of true love, only someone stole them and sold them to cash converters.

      • +2

Or maybe they just fell on hard times, needed some cash, and are sensible enough to realise how ridiculous it is to spend thousands of dollars on a tiny bit of metal you wear on your finger.

        • Or maybe they needed cash to stock up on Eneloops.

        • +2

You usually spend a lot less on the metal, but the diamond.. sheesh I agree ;)

    • +9

It's a piece of metal & a stone. That's it. Nothing less, nothing more.

      • -3

@duchy please let your wife/fiance know that when you propose with some cheap rusted rubbish

        • +3

@duchy is right… You're simply attaching emotion to the ring by calling it a ring of REJECTION.

At the end of the day it is metal and stone. Once you've purchased it, what happened to it beforehand does not/should not make a difference. It's yours now and it matters what emotion/value you put on it.

          Hey, The Last Noob.

Don't need to be rude about it.
He wasn't even attacking you; he was being factual about it.

        • -3

          @pandabun:
actually things are more than what they are made of and duchy should know that

        • +2

@thelastnoob you sir are the perfect mark. Self righteous and rude in your foolishness.

        • -1

          @jacross:
great argument imagining you have won by attacking me rather than addressing any points

        • +3

          @thelastnoob:

          Okay.

1, Jewelry stores have some of the highest markups.
2, Cash Converters sells the same items as jewelry stores They simply sell them used and at a slightly reduced price (though still with a large markup).
3, There is nothing to suggest the items from Cash Converters are any cheaper or rusted than items from a jewelry store. To the extent they would be cheap or rusted that would likely be reflected in the price (just like anything else), would not be universal, and would be for the customer to judge just as they must judge at a jewelry store. Furthermore you've notably changed your argument when you realised that 'eww it's imbued with magical anti-relationship cooties' probably wasn't the most defensible argument.
4, You were a complete (profanity) to duchy when he pointed out that cooties don't exist. If you think Cash Converters is not a good place to buy jewelry for value for money reasons then that is fine (I obviously agree from my own commentary). Clearly you don't care about value for money though, you care about hocus pocus gibberish.
5, I never said I was providing a rebuttal of your argument. I was merely making an observation of how much of a mark you are. However, ask and you shall receive.

        • @jacross:

Thanks I can agree with 1-3 and thanks for 5 (got some seiko watches worth $600-800+ for under $125 at cashies)
My original comment is a superstitious joke (broken mirrors, black cats etc)

          4) I suspect duchy places a higher value on things dead or alive regardless of composition of said items.
Obviously a ring is more than 'just' a piece of metal and a stone since it is a shaped usually valuable piece of precious metal made for the fitting of a ring finger and the stone is usually a valuable stone.

Regardless of one's beliefs many people are superstitious even though they claim to be atheist.

        • +3

@thelastnoob:>the stone is usually a valuable stone.

You realise diamonds are literally worth almost nothing?

        • +1

          @potplanty:
why do they sell for good amounts? there is a documentary about them called 'Blood Diamond' starring Leo
You can swap diamonds for houses, cars, cash etc
Bitcoins are worth more than gold and exist only in math code

        • @jacross:

you sir are the perfect mark. Self righteous and rude in your foolishness.

Oh noes! Has anyone seen my wedding ring?

If anyone finds it PM me and I'll happily pay you $1000.

        • @thelastnoob:

Regardless of one's beliefs many people are superstitious even though they claim to be atheist.

          Many people are stupid.

        • @potplanty:

You realise diamonds are literally worth almost nothing?

          What is literal worth?

And where does the value of anything come from?

        • +1

          @potplanty:

It's not so much that they are literally worth almost nothing. It's more that they SHOULD be worth nothing but for De Beers combining oligopoly supply restrictions with one of the world's most successful marketing campaigns.

Value is subjective and diamonds have value because DeBeers has the world shook. I absolutely agree we need to point out what DeBeers has done though.

        • +3

@thelastnoob Lady here. Would not give a (profanity) if it came from cash converters. Money saved is more money for the next holiday, so calm down lol

        • @GateauBoeuf:
You must be a rare breed

one ring to rule them all

    • Never buy a ring from Cash Converters because they are still overpriced.

Not as overpriced as jewelry stores but still very overpriced.

  • Thanks.

  • +1

Thank you for the deal, it's timely. So what's the waiting time like?

    Double digits?

    • +4

Based on when the deal was last posted, you'll probably wait until it's posted again and remember it never arrived

    • +4

7-10 days for postage within the US according to the confirmation message I got.
It let me enter an AU address.

With the reliability of Australia post, I should have it in 6-10 months.

      • I laughed a little too much at this comment

    • I ordered one in Oct 2015. Still Haven't received it. Could have ordered again but couldn't be bothered.

  • Thank you for this, muchly appreciated!

  • I actually ended up buying my wedding band from Blue Nile a couple years ago after getting the ring sizer. No regrets (in regards to the ring)

  • Got this last time, good quality for what it is.

  • can u use a zip tie?

  • Thanks, altomic (OP).

Hmmm, going to be tricky measuring my girlfriend's ring finger in her sleep, but I'll give it a shot :)

preferred delivery method - Rich + foolish person…

Woohoo! Half way there. Now to work on "rich"

  • +2

I ordered a free ring sizer from here a few days ago: http://www.studiojewellery.com.au/free-ring-sizer.html

Not sure if it's any better but dispatched from Australia which may mean quicker delivery. On the topic of rings, does anyone have any site reccomendations for wedding bands? I've heard jamesallan is good but found blue Nile a little cheaper. Please tell me if I can't ask it here.

    • +3

      wedding bands - aliexpress.

I bought my bands (white gold) from Mario's on Smith St (Fitzroy). then bought some cheap decoys for travelling from aliexpress - I can't tell the difference.

except marios was $300 each and aliexpress was $1.50

      • Thanks altomic. We didn't do an engagement ring though so I'm not sure how $1.50 would go down lol. Definitely a thought though.

        • +2

sssshhh, your other half doesn't have to know.

        • Don't tell them, just swap them to save on claiming insurance if it gets lost/stolen while travelling ;)

  • -1

My ring size is tight yo, don't even need to check :D

  • Has anyone received this? It's been 3-4 months, and nothing.

UPDATE: I contacted them regarding non-delivery in March, this is the answer:

    11:14Karolina
I am sorry to hear you didn't receive it. Unfortunately there's no way for us to track the free ring sizers. All I could do is request that we send you another one, but there's unfortunately no way for me to expedite the request. If you have been waiting that long, you might want to go to a local reputable jeweler instead and have them size your ring size right in store. Or if you go here https://www.bluenile.com/au/education/rings/find-your-ring-s… you can also download and print out our ring size chart.
