Free Jazz Apples @ Wynyard Station (George Street Side, Sydney)

130

Few people on Gerorge street side of Wynyard station giving out pamphlets and Jazz Apples. There is a stand there but didn't really notice what the cause was. But free apples I'm in.

  • I walked past it at Wynyard station this morning. It is something called 'Get Healthy at Work' and looks like some sort of Govt funded program for organisations to help improve the health of their staff.

  • How the (profanity) can you brand an apple and say it's a "different sensation"? It's just a (profanity) apple coming from a (profanity) tree.
Wow, I clearly don't understand our brave new world.

Someone didn't take their soma today.

    • I think these apples are considered unique because they don't oxidise when cut. It makes them easier to use. I think they did this via selective propigation. So I think it probably is patented and deserving of a trademarked name.

    • Sounds like you might enjoy this episode of Planet Money Without branded apples, we'd probably still be stuck with the crappy Red Delicious…
P.S. It was Australia that began the trend of branding/trademarking apples (Pink lady).

      • Thanks!

    • They've been around for a while but I don't see them in shops all the time (guess they're seasonal?) I've tried them before and was disappointed when I couldn't find them again. They're just a really nice tasting apple. Like a Pink Lady but taste "redder". I do agree that there is some "wank factor" in the advertising though

Would be better if they set up shop a bit further down George St outside the Apple store.

Also my mind processes their website as Jazza pples .com
