around the world under a month???? whats the point!!!!

    • +14

      To beat Phileas Fogg's record?

    • +6

It's only 3 cities so one month would be ok. The flights themselves would be half the fun.

      • +6

The flights themselves would be half the fun.

not in economy they wouldnt ;)

        • +1

This is true. I didn't even notice the economy fares tbh, fixated on the business class offering lol

    • Business… I have this need and will be getting a quote.

  • -1

This would include hotels if you flew economy

    • +2

It would include food if you take a boat. So?

      • It would include Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone 7S if you walked.

        <sorry just trollin'>

  • +1

Is this only available for Escape Travel Indooroopilly?

If your answer is yes, then my follow up question is why/how?

    • Likely only available through a travel agent.

      • Correct. If you search online it will be over 12k.

        • +1

Yes, I presumed it's only available through a travel agent, and it will be over 12k for online searches.

But my question was "is this only available for Escape Travel Indooroopilly" - as there are other Escape Travels.

If the answer is no - then other Escape Travels would offer it. Nationally?
If the answer is yes - then why? how?

Not sure how my question could be misinterpreted? =/

        • +1

          @db2k:

Special offer through a franchise i'd say.

        • +1

@abc: waiting for op to confirm …

        • +1

@db2k: It is available through any Escape Travel store - you can enquire online and will be directed to a consultant closer to your location if Indooroopilly is not your closet store:
          Economy - http://www.escapetravel.com.au/product/4734027

        • Love your nic @cheersbitches

I ended up booking at FC but paid $50 more

  • +1

    Lotsa exclamation marks!!!!!!

    • +2

Thanks for the brand new ink cartridges boss.

  • +1

You got a Qantas version of that deal?

    • Sadly it is only a VA deal

    • +9

      Yep, just add a zero

  • -2

From $4375 yet examples show $4574 and it looks like it can be had $574-$375 cheaper for the Around The World at $3999 possibly-

    http://pointsfromthepacific.boardingarea.com/2017/05/17/fant…

Though again it seems to be available from the same group Flight Center/Escape Travel through a different Agent. YMMV.

    • +2

Due to the precise requirements for the $3999 base fare, I haven't advertised it because I know how frustrating and annoying it would be to expect an advertised deal and not receive the fare you are told.

If you ask me it is much better to be told hey, by the way because your dates suit the criteria your fare is actually only $3999.

        • +27

          Have a look :)

The $200 difference on the first fare is to cover availability on the Domestic sectors.

You may like to paint us travel agents as evil or deceitful. Yet I genuinely want to help people travel and save them money while doing so.

Otherwise I wouldn't share deals on here :) We have enough people walking in to keep us busy.

I thought this was a place to post deals for Aussies? Not negativity.

This is an epic deal and I challenge you to find it without us agents :)

        • +2

@travelexpertsindro: keep the good work mate

  • +14

I'm all booked up for the coming year so can't take advantage of this deal, but wanted to upvote since it's a good deal and I'm always keen on business class deals. Not enough of them on Ozbargain, hopefully you'll keep posting them. :)

  • +1

what does around the world mean?

    • +2

      multiple continents

    • +1

It means Spherical Earth Thoery is true

      • +1

Not true. They actually turn the plane around and we don't know it because we're being tricked into believing the spherical earth hypothesis.

  • -3

I don't understand why people would do around the world.

I prefer to explore one region at a time.

    • +13

I prefer to explore one region at a time.

That's great, maybe you should write a book about it.

      • +3

Could be a great book… especially if it's called

"Around the world (one region at a time) in 80 days" ….

        <tumbleweed passes by>

        .
        .
        .
        .

        <cricket chirps>

    • if you're already on holiday, why the hell not?!

For example you could be visiting family around the world with 2 or 3 regions for the price of 1 and a little bit.

    • I'm with you on this one. Wife and I like to get into a place for longer, than just to stay few days in each country.

  • +2

Being a Brisbane outfit, do you have any good deals departing and returning to Brisbane?

  • Do those seasonality dates apply to London economy rtn also?

  • Perth misses out again :(

    • +3

Perth misses out? 90% of the time Perth has the cheapest fares except when travelling across the pacific.

  • The 11 SEP TO 28 NOV looks amazing. If only I could get the time away from work :'(.

    • Quit your job (lol).

Anyway stupid question. Would I need a valid passport to book these flights? (in the view of renewing my expired passport).

      • +4

        To book: probably not
To fly: it the one and only purpose of your passport so yeah

  • Hey rep does this come with full SC's and points? If so, this is a seriously amazing deal..

  • +1
    • Yes it was, thanks for the heads up as I was going to book with my local Escape Travel who provided a quote @ 4.3k pp ($8.6k total)… but then saw your post and FC had it for $3.1k pp ($6.2k) … so you effectively saved me $2.4k …

      The magic of Ozbargain. Ozbargained.

Hi Op. This just seems to be 4 one way airfares? A Round-The-World fare was always a ticket for unlimited flights on various airlines in any country world-wide, as long as you travelled in roughly one direction (ie no back tracking) with a 12 month validity. They only cost ~$2000 not so long ago. Do you have access to one of these rtw fares, cos I plan to do 50+ stops in lots of countries for my 12-month break. Thanks.

    • yes STA travel do RTW fares but never heard of unlimited flights?! STA do deals for $2-2.5k … but this deal is BUSINESS CLASS and a return business class to London was $11k with QF

    • +2

That's relatively incorrect. RTW fares with oneworld (who I know best, so will stick to these, but *A are similar) are generally in one direction, and as you say on various airlines. The airlines are with an alliance 90% of the time- skyteam, star alliance or oneworld.

But they have never, in recent times (last 10ish years) had unlimited flights and prior to that had a segment limit of 20. The current ones have a segment limit of 16 which I understand to be a limitation of the eticketing system in use.

Cost wise you are looking at a base of around that much with another $1k in taxes. The global explorer has a hard limit of KM, and the oneworld explorer has a 16 seg limit with additional intra-continent limits. (4 for north america, can purchase 2 extra at $x for example. The purchased segments still count to wards your 16 limit, so you get 2 less in other areas even though you paid the extra $.

Additionally the xONEX (oneworld explorers) are priced per continent. From AU there is a minimum 4 continent ticket, up to 6 continent. Obviously they get more expensive as you add more continents.

Play around with the oneworld online RTW booking tool to learn more about them, they are pretty good in business but if going economy you'll generally be able to get yourself a better deal via Lufthansa's set destination RTW tickets and the like

      • +1

        (last 10ish years)

Thanks Cynicor, most helpful. Yes.. the rtw fares I remember probably started changing at least 15 years ago now I guess. But I had no idea if they still existed, so thought I'd ask the OP if they were still around in that same form.

  • +2

Does anyone know if Escape Travel charge CC fees?

    • +1

Escape Travel, Student Flights and Flight Centre (They're all under the same company) charge CC fee's however its up to the consultants discretion to have that waived - that being said the consultant would make minimal commission as it will be a cop in the chin for them

  • +2

Take it easy with the CAPS there sport…

    • Trying to make it look like your eTICKET

  • I needed something like this for relations starting from the UK. It never happens though :(

  • How do I enquire about this? I dropped an email to Jose but no response

  • +2

Netiquette 101: DO NOT USE CAPS LOCK UNLESS YOU ARE SHOUTING!!!

  • Business class - enough to get platinum status with VA ?

  • Rep - is the price drop fare still with Virgin Atlantic? Noticed that your latest revision no longer mentions VA.

  • Op. I sent an email yesterday but have yet to hear back. Keen to book asap.

    • I would say this person is getting hammered with heaps of emails now.

  • @travelexpertsindro thanks heaps for posting this deal. Unfortunately I'm already sorted for this year. Please keep posting such business class deals, as I'm planning for next year. South America will be great if you've got deals. Cheers
