Breville The Scraper Twin Mixer $256

Key Features

Give your baking an added boost with the Breville Scraper Twin Mixer. The machine comes with a scraper beater and scraper whisk, two bowls, a standard flat beater, a dough hook, a wire whisk, a splash guard, and a spatula.
The innovative scraper design effectively aerates your mix by wiping the sides and bottom of the bowl with every turn so you avoid lumpy and over-mixed cakes and cut your mixing time by up to 60%.
The Mixer's scraper whisk allows you to evenly mix sugar into a meringue without needing to lift the mixer head and scrape the sides down.
The Mixer's high, narrow three-litre bowl makes simple work of mixing small quantities, such as a single egg

  • Reading a few online reviews, a couple of repeated complaints which is what I look for when reading reviews, were a tendency to overspeed, smoke and grinding noises. Thanks but Ill pass.

That's very true, but the majority of happy users don't go online and review a product.
Its usually the unhappy ones that write something because they are peeved.

Id say it would still be a good machine for lighter mixing, these machines are easily damaged doing dough, when they are at this price point. Kitchenaid still rules supreme because its more heavy duty and built to last.

Thats why I said I look for consistency in complaints. If a number of people report the same thing, theres probably something to it regardless of the lack of positive posts.

Disappointed when it broke doesnt help. Same with used to work, now it wont, disappointed etc. Same as its awesome, just opened it and I love it, or baked one cake,. best cake ever.
But, set to slow and it goes high spraying ingredients around the kitchen. Or set it to low, speeds up by itself to high then stops and wont run for 10 minutes, kind of tells me something about the controller used. Same as repeated complaints about grinding noises tells me about the drive gears accuracy in manufacture and assembly.

Its not one complaint, its the same or similar complaint, several times that I look for.

Went to look at 4:20pm, ended up with a Kenwood KVC50 for $366. 5yr warranty, seem to recall it was $499. So plus vote for alerting me to the Saturday sale.

I'm checking out the Kenwood too, thanks to this post. Combined with the amex offer, brings it to $316!

  • We've had the Breville for a year or so, and it's been excellent.

  • I have the breville too and it's been great. Only use it for cakes and cookies though. Have used it a couple of times with dough and it was ok. If only I needed another.

  • This is a fantastic deal for the Breville. I just bought this for $256 this morning (Sunday) down from $599. Thanks!
