Hi OP, Thanks for posting but unfortunately I missed out. I have a 2010 Subaru Forester. I need a Bluetooth (and if possible NFC) connectivity to play songs and to receive calls from my phone. Can you suggest anything? TIA Cheers

    • You don't need NFC, you just want it because it has it, and it's another acronym to desire.

I suggest you wait for another deal to pop up.

    • No worries! And who knows, a similar deal might pop up in the future :P
You need something like this, easy to install (plug and play)

Great timing as my wife's new car has bluetooth and I've been pining for having a bluetooth enabled deck in my car. I have an older Sony deck that has a USB port which has been great but its limited in the fact it can't read files if there are too many folders or too many files in a folder, makes trying to organise your files so you can get the most out of a USB storage device quite annoying. Hoping this deck is able to read more files, otherwise the bluetooth functionality should work quite nicely with the 200GB SD card in my S7.

    Great price, thanks OP!

    • Glad you found it useful :) This model has the following codec support
USB: MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, FLAC
      Bluetooth: SBC and AAC

      • Oh i'm not questioning the support for the types of files it can read, I meant the amount it can read on a USB stick. Like, my current deck can only read something like 15 directories on the root of the drive and only so many files in total spread across all those folders. So in order to have more music visible, I need to do away with my current file structure which is <artist folder> <several album folders> (mp3 files) and instead have it like <artists A-F> <artist name> (mp3 files). Makes scrolling or trying to find an album to listen to quite frustrating if you want to have a lot of music on one large USB stick

          Lame

  • Looks like JB HiFi have removed the page for the head unit, however my order status changed to 'Ready for pickup' so I assume everyone's order got honoured :)

Mine is "In Progress"… Fingers crossed still, btw thanks for this awesome deal, been wanting Bluetooth for a while now, and this price is reasonable to add that one feature over my existing headunit.

    • I just called my store and was told that my order will be refunded as "they don't have stock" :(

      e. Sunshine VIC store

      • Damn! Ask them to call another store nearby to see if they have stock, if you remember on the product page it said if delivered it could take up to 5-15 days as its limited stock, so surely they could order it in and sell it to you for the same price.

        • The manager wasn't a nice person. I've sent an email to the JB online store instead.

For those asking if it will fit in your car or you're unsure of which harness you need, this is the primary one needed (http://i.imgur.com/GxZDDSH.png), then go here (https://aerpro.com/selector) and select your make/model and it'll tell you which ISO connector you need.

  • My order shows as cancelled now. Ordered within an hour of deal being posted, c&c from Dandenong, VIC.

    • I'd say it was a pricing error….

    • Mine says that too when I check on their website. Ordered around the same time, but went with shipping.
      No email from them though.

What are the chances of it being honoured?

  • FRIG Mine was Cancelled :(

JB you've done it again :/

I'm so annoyed I said there wasn't much stock here and got negged for my comment and it seems I was right!

  • With the cheapest on Ebay being $194, I really doubt they'll honour a $60-70 price. It'd be below cost.

  • Just got an email advising my order was cancelled due to it being oversold.

  • My order was cancelled …

"Unfortunately, due to the popularity of this clearance item, our website was unable to keep up with the number of orders being placed at a time and as a result this item has been oversold."

  • Same here. Order was cancelled for the same reason as above.

  • I just picked mine up and the employee said that they only honoured the first 10 orders from each store as they couldn't keep up with the demand and had limited stock. Apparently over 800 orders were placed.

  • Yup. Mine has been cancelled too. Looks like I waited for too long to pull the trigger. It's the second time I'm missing out on these Sony units, as my purchase from one of Sony's latest eBay sales has been cancelled too in similar way. :(

    • I don't get it though, if you choose the delivery option it said it'll take 5-15 days for more stock to come in since it was limited stock :/ Don't see why they can't order in more especially after having 800+ orders

They claim the supplier can't fulfill more stock supply in the cancellation email:

"The suppliers have contacted us in regards to this item and unfortunately they have advised that it is no longer available."

  • I bought mine from last nite before they changed the price up to $167.
My question is how they know and change the price up even they dont have stock ??
And in midday today they remove product. So now i missed sale from supercheap last nite with 25% off.
Can we contact with Fair Trading ??

Picked mine up yesterday morning. Thanks koalafied for the post and all your help with the harness questions.

On opening mine to install it today, I found that inside the box (unsealed) for the MEX-N5150BT, was a MEX-XB100BT:

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/gps-car-audio/sony/sony-mexxb100bt…

Just the face and actual stereo part; the manual and harness were for the N5150BT.

I called JB today to get a replacement MIC as mine had no phono plug on the end, and they will swap it for the N5150BT in an unopened box (mine was clearly opened and the incorrect, probably display stereo, put inside), they had three left at the current price of $160odd.

But now I am unsure of which to keep as the MEX-XB100BT is clearly a better (more powerful unit) They both appear to have the same features for Bluetooth and USB etc. unless I am missing something.

I am missing the fuse harness for the XB100BT, but maybe I can get an aftermarket one, and there will be no warranty on the XB100BT as I did not actually purchase that stereo……hmmm what to do?

TLDR: Thanks koalafied for the new stereo :)

    • Picked mine up today also. I did notice that mine was also an unsealed box, but I did get the MEX-N5150BT unit inside. Haven't looked much further than that, it's a job for the weekend!

    • the face has sticker noted to it that in order for NFC to work, the serial number on the face and main unit has to be identical, so you might have trouble using NFC connecting android devices. Also the face might not be compatible with each other, best to get it connected and check it out.

    • Glad you're enjoying it! My box was also unsealed but all the original parts were inside. Ask them for the original face, the model up isn't as good as this

      • I have both the face and the body of the MEX-XB100BT..a matching set looking pretty new with plastic still stuck to the face unit. It is literally the wrong car stereo in the box for the MEX-N5150BT. It is missing all the other bits that may have been bundled in its original packaging.

I was under the impression from both the price, being $200 more than the replacement to the MEX-N5150BT the N5200BT, and the fact that it is reported as a class D amp with 100W x 4 as opposed to 55W x 4 for the N5150BT; That the XB100BT was better. The review I read seems to put in in a higher class.

        http://www.pasmag.com/car-audio/test-reports/3885-sony-mex-x…

I can get over the mic phone plug issue as it is easy to fix, and as long as I can get it hooked up with the correct plugs, $67 for a $400 car stereo seems like a steal… maybe a bit literally… it does feel odd it was in the wrong box.

        Is the MEX-N5150BT really better?

EDIT: Can you please list what should have been in the box for the MEX-N5150BT…apart from the actual unit with faceplate.

        • Panel case, trim ring and the ant connector. You can buy them online for cheap anyway, and the only difference between the two models is the output - N5150BT is 40w and your model is 100w. Your model has rainbow key illumination, the other doesn't. If you're going to connect high powered amp/subs then the one you have is better, the N5150BT isn't as powerful for those things

        • @koalafied:

Thanks koalafied. I appreciate your help.

I am thinking that as I am missing the fuse harness, and it is looking hard to find an OEM replacement for it online, and the fact that it need a separate 15A 14 gauge run to the battery from the stereo due to the extra power it draws; I may be better off just swapping it for a complete MEX-N5150BT. While a nice to have, I probably don't need the extra power, it is only going into a small car.

It does look like there is little difference besides the power output. When I was researching the difference I came across the following test video and it was certainly making me lean toward the XB100BT. But I probably don't need the power or the extra difficulty in the install:

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zkLwQVHxfI

I am hoping that the MEX-N5150BT has the following in the box:

          • Stereo base unit with trim ring and faceplate in protective case. (this is the only thing I have atm but a MEX-XB100BT)
          • Mounting screws and other parts.
          • Remote Control.
          • Basic bare-wire harness.
          • Microphone.
          • Manual.

Have I got that correct or does the MEX-N5150BT not come with the remote control?

        • @inabeyance:

You're right, it's not worth going through all that trouble just to keep a slightly better model. It'll also eventually come down in price like the N5150BT.

That's correct, it'll come with all of those things except for the remote. I think the only reason they've not included one is because of Siri Hands Free (controlling unit with voice commands) & Sony App Remote app which lets you control the unit within the app and works as a display for the unit.
