McDonald Ingredient Swap Question

Hi guys,

when I order cheese burger I normally ask staff to take away beef patty and replace with egg, but staff just charge extra for egg but did not deduct beef from the total cost, so basically I'm paying for beef for no reason, I thought McDonald order system can deduct beef but no anymore, Anyone here work for McDonald can confirm this?

  • I thought it's always been that way, removing items doesn't reduce the cost.

    • no, I always ask them to take away the patty and it reduces the price by$1.20 e.g. here

I guess I have never tried with the patty, just with having no cheese.

What strange people we are, going to maccas and having no meat or cheese. It's just not right 😀

isn't a cheese burger with no cheese a junior burger?

        • hang on! So a junior burger with cheese is a cheese burger?

        • @supnigs super skids: well, it's the little differences.

      • The only thing that will reduce your cost is the patty. The most expensive stuff (to them) anyway.

Any other omission won't give you any economic benefits, but adding the same ingredients would cost you at least 50 cents extra (cheese and sauce). Onions and pickles I think are free.

        • ketchup and mustard are free too.

        • @ozhunter:

I think those go without saying lol

        • @dennis3107:

The way you phrased it implied the 50 cents extra was for both the cheese and sauce.

        • @ozhunter:

Sorry. I meant those big mac, mayo kinds of sauce lol

Might have changed since, but I remember many years ago my friend (at the time) who was vego, ordered a big Mac with no beef…and basically got a lettuce and big Mac sauce burger…they charged him the same price. WTF.

    • Why did your vego friend order that. S/he should have ordered the nuggets.

It looks like that staff member didn't know to deduct the cow patty. Next time just say 'Hey, usually the price comes down, are you sure you entered it ok?'

that's what I am trying to say, I visit the same Mcdonald last month and they were able to deduct the cost of patty, but yesterday I order the same thing, the girl don't know how to do it, I told her she forget to deduct the patty, so she then ask I think it's her manager to put in the order system, the receipt shows "no beef" but the final cost remain the same, did not deduct the beef, maybe someone work for Mcdonald can confirm if they change the ordering system.

  • last yr I wanted warm water for a baby bottle they charged me for a cup of tea at the MacDonalds just outside Newcastle nsw

  • I score by adding extra pickles and its FREE

    • don't forget the free chopped onions too!

    • really… I didn't know this… I've been missing out

      have to try this now.

Are the burgers better, that have the beef patty removed. at Hungry Jack's?

    • +1

The burgers are better at Hungry Jacks.

    • my local HJ allow swap beef for egg, however I must admit Mcdonald's egg is WAY better because they fresh cracked the egg, on the other hand HJ's egg is always old and not fresh cracked even they advertised as "fresh cracked egg"..

  • I've removed the beef patty a few times and never had a price reduction. Might depend on store/State. I'm in WA.
