I got mine from Android Enjoyed. Took 4 days with DHL from China.

        https://www.android-enjoyed.com/blackberry-dtek60-32gb-4g-lt…

Combined with coupon code TODAYBF to get $10 off total.

I love the phone, especially monthly updates and the Blackberry Hub is a dream. Basically can choose your message views and integrates messenger, sms emails and anything else that does messaging. It detects the apps automatically :).

Make sure you get the BBA100-2 as only this model will work in Aus.

I bought one a while back for that 500-600 mark (grey import) after my stop gap phone died; the stop gap being for someone to make a good hardware keyboard again, always a super unlikely chance I know.

Except I haven't used the keyboard as much as I though because it's pretty crappy compared to other ones. Small keys, no dedicated numbers or many easy symbols. Very much gone are the days of Droid4 or PhotonQ keyboards for my "not English dictionary words typing".

And yes it gets hot really easily for some reason. The heat itself on skin is not the issue, but the fact it then throttles down because of it.

  • Be careful regarding the shipping charges. was changed extra for shipping when i bought a item from them as they opted for "Global Shipping Program"
please check ur bank account once u received the product to ensure u don't get changed by pitney bowes

  • What does "dual-curved" mean?

    • screen is curved down the left AND right sides I guess

Waiting on the KeyOne to be released down under. :(

Could tide me over on my second Sim.

Better to buy it from Australia with 1 year warranty $379 https://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/astore/BlackBerry-Priv-…

      Yes… it's a better option

      • Incorrect.

You sure that site is from Australia? I thought DWI was HK?

      • +2

They're a grey importer. They are not from Australia.

        Do your prices include GST?

        No.
As we are an overseas business, we do not charge any GST on our purchase.

Why is koalafied saying you can buy from Australia on the link he provided? Or is he wrong about that?

        • @lostn:

          He is wrong.

  • This phone punches above it's weight in many aspects, great camera w OIS, awesome video recording, nice screen and as others have mentioned, it's very loud on headphones. and I miss phones with keyboards (useful for maximising on-screen viewing area) good deal if you don't need power for games.

  • CPU is a bit dated as is the OS, but not bad for the price.

But physical keyboards are an outdated concept these days. You won't type faster with it than you can with Swype or Swiftkey or even the built in Android keyboard.

    • CPU is a bit dated as is the OS

CPU is a bit old but not sure what the problem is with running "only" Marshmallow/6.

You won't type faster with it than you can with Swype or Swiftkey or even the built in Android keyboard.

Only if you stick to general dictionary words. I do all my general messaging with the normal swipe typing good enough, but anything else a keyboard kicks ass. but like I said above, the way the keyboard is implemented matters a lot (obviously) and IMO this one is not that great. Compare it to say the Droid/PhotonQ keyboard.

Not that I expect anyone to make another one again since these days it's form over function.

      • CPU is a bit old but not sure what the problem is with running "only" Marshmallow/6.

Android 5 is 2 years old. This is what my S6 released with. My S6 has upgraded to Android 7 Nougat now. I was hoping BB would do Android updates at least.

Only if you stick to general dictionary words. I do all my general messaging with the normal swipe typing good enough, but anything else a keyboard kicks ass.

It's the only thing I do on my phone. If I need to go beyond that, e.g. spreadsheets I'd do it on a desktop. This one doesn't have a dedicated row for number keys so it's going to drive me crazy. Also, the keys are just too small and close together to make typing quickly practical. I'd need to use my nails to avoid fat fingering the adjacent keys.

Physical keys are alright if the keyboard slides out horizontally like a Nokia N97. The keys won't be so cramped together that way. What I mean by that is, the keyboard is oriented when you're viewing it in landscape mode. Speaking of which that's another limitation of physical keyboards. If you want to use this phone in landscape mode, you can't use the keyboard.

Not that I expect anyone to make another one again since these days it's form over function.

I expect Blackberry to make another one, because the keyboard is part of their DNA.

  • I wanted this phone last year. I really like phones with a physical keyboard. But I eventually got a s8+

      What stopped you?

      • I'm not sure actually, I think I read a few bad points of the phone and it deterred me a little bit, or the price was too high for what I thought it was worth.

  • Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

    A bit Outdated.
Also people who are using it, how does keyboard work. If I have physical keyboard out, does the visual one hides?
If physical keyboard is in, does the visual keyboard on screen auto pops up during typing?

Its missing band 28 as well. Not sure how big is that issue for 4g providers.

    • That's out of the box, it has marshmallow, and apparently soon nougat.

      Also read edit 3.

  • GPU Adreno 418 is a bit underpowered for the WQHD 2560x1440 display.

Only 10hours (video), despite the 3410 mAh battery.

I like the moving keyboard, and I guess portrait is traditional BB but I'd prefer landscape. Also: no ESC.

  • did anyone noticed no fingerprint reader?

I think blueberries are much better than this…

  • What mobile network are you using the BB on? The only one I can find is Telstra. If you recharge prepaid above $40 you can use the BB emailing, etc.
