Price drops on this keyboard and mouse at Big W :)

These prices are available in-store but you can price match at other places if they're closer. Doesn't have unifying receiver unfortunately but still a good price.

Seems to be the cheapest the MK220 has been. Delivery is an extra $9.95 but I would not recommend to do this as it's cheaper elsewhere.

Enjoy :)

+1 for price and for posting in description about the unifying receiver as thats what I wanted to know.

it doesn't seem to have the lights to indicate whether Num Locl/ Caps Lock/ Scroll Lock is on. It can be very frustrating at times not knowing when Caps Lock is on, especially when entering passwords.

It's wireless, an LED on 24x7 would kill the battery. The equivalent MS keyboard is the same.

      • +8

The tiny little LED under such keys would not 'kill' the battery, or drain it to any meaningful degree. In any case, these keys could always be 'unlocked' when the keyboard was not in use.

        • +15

It would kill the battery, wireless keyboards more or less turn off between key presses that is why they last a year or more even on the cheap models and even with one AAA battery.. An Iit LED would massively increase power consumption.

Having it turn off after a time would make it non intuitive and introduce a timer and extra circuitry. This is a base model wireless set.

Finally many of these models have driver that shows an onscreen indication of caps lock but that is an even worse situation.

        • @SamR: I have a wireless keyboard and it shows capslock on. Pretty handy feature I would say. But for That price, I wont bother asking for it even.

        • +1

@Gaggy: i have a wireless and a wired keyboard hooked into the same computer. when I hit capslock on the wireless keyboard then the light goes on on the wired keyboard

        • @altomic: That is normal and will happen if you have multiple keyboards attached. I have K270 and does not affect the battery life. I think it switches off automatically after not used for some time.

        • @altomic: Got Milk? Yep - I've got 4 hands!

        • @Gaggy:
Maybe altomic is saying, if you have space etc, you can have an old wired keyboard plugged in, as well as one of these wireless keyboards, to overcome the lack of a light on this one?

I got mine from Harvey Norman on special for about $18. I don't use the keyboard because of the no Caps lock indicator. That annoys the hell out of me. Hope i don't get negged like Zinger for have the same opinion.
      The mouse is fine though.

  • I think the keyboard and mouse lacks an on-off switch but still a great bargain at this price!

Edit: Thanks @Dabbler68 for clarification regarding the keyboard on/off switch.

  • Is this available at Officeworks? Couldn't find it when I searched their website just then :(

    • Oh wait yeah it isn't, it was last time I checked. My bad.

      • Doh! Think this is a pricing error as I saw it in the catalogue for around $22 I think?

        • That's weird cause the MK270R is also on sale so I thought I'd be normal pricing.

          @doweyy:
Grabbed it instore. It has $23 price tag on the shelf but scans at $12.05. thanks OP :)

I recently bought one of these combos just for the keyboard. I like the small size, but am disappointed that it is not compatible with my existing unifying receiver, as I am keeping my better mouse in service, so need both receivers plugged in. It feels like what it is … a cheap keyboard. For $12 it's great value if you are happy with the feel. I'm thinking of looking for something better.

As for the comments above about lights for Caps Lock. It does have such a light, and it stays on for about 3 minutes before going out. Any keypress illuminates it again. There is no indicator for the NumLock. An interesting feature is when rebooting the PC (Win 7), the CapsLock setting gets reset to Off, but Numlock stays as set on the keyboard.

Also, the keyboard does have an On/off switch. I can't say for the mouse (M510) becasue it's still in the packaging.

Any other value for money keyboards that are compatible with the unifying receiver?

      • There is one that is visually identical but has a better build quality, the K230. I use one every day at work (bought my own as I like them). Combine that with an M570 trackball and you've got the perfect solution for a cluttered desk - small keyboard + non-moving mouse.

    • I think there is a software to sync your keyboard with your unifying, if I don't remember it wrong, just google it.

    • Where's that light? I have this very keyboard and it doesn't seem to have it

Don't forget this is also available at 4 payments of AUD $3.01 interest free over 6 weeks if you want to keep some extra cash around for another weekly slice of avocado.

    • +4

And you also save a cent that way?

      • +4

+ the interest you accumulate on that money

  • thanks op. just bought one.

  • Thanks OP

  • Does the receiver dock under the mouse ?

    • +1

      I just bought one.

The receiver does not dock in the mouse or keyboard.

      • Thanks for updating, Makes me feel better for having passed this one.

  • +1

$12.04 if you use 4 payments with afterpay.

  • The keyboard on these are quite small and flimsy. I wouldn't recommend it for anything but having a portable keyboard to take with your laptop. I accidentally ordered one of these for work and found it wasn't practical for any serious amount of typing, the mouse is fine however.

    • You must be the first person I've heard of that uses an external keyboard on their laptop.

Can't picture anyone at a cafe doing that.
      -_^

      • +1

I do use an external keyboard at home as I usually connect it to another monitor and also have a laptop stand if I'm using it in a different location around the home. This model would be geared more towards giving presentations etc where you're hooked into a projector or pushed back on a desk for clients to see while you're working on it.

      • I have my laptop set up as a desktop in clamshell mode (lid closed) and have an external keyboard and monitor

      • Make that 2 :) I have 2 monitors connected to my Laptop so having this keyboard is handy as the screen on my laptop is switched off.

        • He mention as a portable keyboard.. ie. Used outside the house. Thats why i mention the cafe..

  • great price. i m a big user of logitech, i have this product, i works good. great for typing.

    • Haha I'm going to presume that your trying to be funny or you posted this with your phone because the praise your giving it is being undone by your typing skills lol.

      • :/ this is harsh. i guess you are a teacher in a Montessori school.

  • I've had this keyboard for over 3 years, its an excellent buy. I for one like the low profile and mushy key presses almost haha.

  • can anyone confirm the range all my wireless stuff struggles 5m from behind the tele(where it needs to be). and if it would work on carpet

    cheers

    • I had it attached to my computer sitting behind my tele and it worked great, was roughly 3 - 4 mtrs. Since I got another keyboard for home, I am using the MK220 at work. The real estate on this keyboard is not that great, but the keys are nice to type.

  • Out of stock online.

Went in to JB hi fi but didn't get one. looks and feels very cheap.

  • got one at BigW its a good value for the price. thanks OP

  • Since it's now unavailable online, JbHiFi were unwilling to price match, but Harvey Norman were willing to price match.

  • Thanks Op. Got the second last one at Garden City, Mount Gravatt

  • went to jbhifi and they said big W was out of stock so they would not price match. I clicked big w and found the item still in stock? https://www.bigw.com.au/product/logitech-mk220-wireless-comb…

  • Ordered this online but just got an email saying that it is out of stock.

"Unfortunately the item that you have ordered is currently out of stock and can not be supplied. We have processed a refund for this item for you."

  • Just got 3 today, still same price.
sometimes it's better to check it yourself.
