"you must not currently have an active PlayStation Plus subscription on your account."

    • Damn.

    Thanks anyway!

    • +9

So, I previously had PSN plus, but not currently. Got the same error.
      Fixed by:
      1) Open incognito (chrome)
      2) Click through to the above link
      3) Click Subscribe
      4) Sign in, and purchase in cart (no longer get error)

      • Tried this - didn't work :(

    • +6

Yeah, way to thank loyal customers!

    • It took only a day before Sony sent me an email with the claim code.

  • +1

Man, that's good timing - was within a day or two of getting a twelve month sub to be able to play Injustice 2 with friends. Makes me glad I never got around to it quite yet!

  • +4

Geez they're really trying to push Battlefront at the end of its lifecycle hey

  • +1

Well, this is an unexpected deal. I've been hoping that something would come up as my subscription expired a few weeks ago and I've been itching to get back to one of the games in my PS+ library. Crazy timing though… I pretty much just came to OzBargain tonight to see if there were any deals before I renewed.

As for Battlefront, well it's not something I was looking for but considering I was about to renew anyway, I'll take the free game. If anyone's wondering, the cheapest this Ultimate Edition has been is $20, which was earlier this month.

A couple of things I noticed… Firstly, it's worth emphasising that there is a limit on how many Battlefront codes they will give out, so there's no guarantee the offer will be available until the closing date. Also, there are rumours that PS+ will get a major overhaul in the coming months… likely by changing the format of the game offerings. It's interesting that the description here only promises 24 PS4 games a year and doesn't mention the 48 PS3/PS Vita games we have been getting up to this point.

  • +2

Yay for 100gb plus download….. so much fun.

Honestly i am excited about this but all i have been doing on my ps4 is download download download.

    • +2

They ain't half as bad as the Xbox One, I've had many a 50gb patches too… I dedicate twice a month to put them on standby to do patches, ridiculous.

I think I already have Ultimate on PS4, can't recall :P either that or Xbox, or both (yeah first world problem) but if I get something with this that's not bad. Oh wait it's for non members…

      Weird I can't even purchase a 12 month atm.

      • I cant complain really. If i let it dl i can usually get 20gb of downloading a day via steam easily do hopefully this wont take too long.

Then my big purchase will be fo4

        • I've deleted my Steam Library for that very reason, I did re download it once recently at my Parents who have unlimited net (and it's now permanently shaped their connection…) so that serves me right. I've found the PS4 auto updating a bit hit and miss though, reguarly it only seems to pick up games in recently played from my experience, and ignores others…

      • +1

Yeah the Xbox one games and patches are much bigger than the PS4 average. I managed to fit close to 20 games on my PS4 stock 500gb but only managed about 7 games on my XB1. Even though I own the games on disc I don't want to delete them because they have 70gb patches =/

    • +1

I've only just discovered that games I've been buying on disc to save HDD space get copied to the damn HDD. Grrrrr

  • +1

My subscription expires in 2 days…perfect timing…Thanks OP

  • +1

Nice offer. Just shame about choice of game.

  • Do i bought battlefront ultimate edition the last sale…well if you are happy to wait an hour for a game or just not at all :(

Good deal though! just wish there was a single player.

  • Wait sorry i dont understand! My subscription is running out on the 6th am i still eligible for this promotion?

    • No, this deal expires before then.

      • Your post says the closing date is 30th June

        • Thanks, I am an idiot, I was looking at the expiry date that I set incorrectly in this post for 30 May.
So you're all good. Let it expire, I would wait at least one full day of being expired, then take this up.

  • +2

It's a good deal, I'm just not interested in Star Wars Battlefront. Wish it was another title.

  • -6

As much as this deal gives out…..as long as PS4 still requires PSN to play online I will not subscribe.

Everyone should do that until Sony brings back free multiplayer and PSN for the richies only like PS3

    $69.95 is not cheap still

Tell me if the subscription has been worth it with indie titles rather AAAs?

If you are a casual gamer and paying PSN, I think its a huge ripoff

    • +5

The acceptance of paid multiplayer became heavily established long before PS4 arrived. Not sure why they would choose to absorb the costs associated with providing, maintaining and improving online infrastructure when you have 26.4 million Plus subscribers (up from 20.8 million a year prior).

      • +1

Well I mean steam are sort of doing that for free

        • "free"…. How many games do you own on steam, and how many do you play? Also steam isn't the most reliable lol

        • -2

@OnlinePred: yes but the point is youre not obliged to pay for anything. I can get steam play all the free games on there and pretty much not pay a cent whereas playstation you have to pay a subscription to pay online

Furthermore psn is a lot less reliable than steam, i mean how many times has it been hacked?

        • +1

          @GossipGoat:

          Once. 2011.

      • Sure neg me if you want I knew it was coming. If Sony was able to do it on PS3 there's no reason why they couldn't on PS4 except for greed.

Stop falling into these corporate practices guys

A casual gamer on PS4 once a week for an hour, if you think that's worth it then you have too much disposable income

        • +2

PS3 had terrible support and psn often went down. I'm more than happy to pay for a better service and get free games every month.

Also you say it's not cheap. It's $1.34 a week.

        • -2

Unfortunately the games on offer are no longer AAA titles hence not even worth $1.34 a week. Might as well spend that on something else.

        • +1

@neonlight: No worries mate. If you don't want to pay for it; you don't have to.

  • +1

Businesses putting so much value on new customer's rather than retention of existing customers. They always get the good deals.

  • Thanks for looking after loyal customers Sony.

  • I only bought PS Plus like a week ago!

Oh well I had Battlefront when I had my first PS4 (sold it and went without consoles for a year).

It was a good game but a bit limited compared to Battlefield 1 which I love!

    • If it's within 14 days you can cancel your PS+ and get a refund, then resubscribe to get the free game. Just how much of an OzBargainer are you?

      • I bought a physical card from the shops. I don't trust Sony anymore.

        • I've always wondered how they work exactly. When you enter the code, does it add funds to your wallet or does it activate PS+ directly? I assume it's the latter given your response here. If so, that sucks.

        • @clarkey:

You can just buy credit for PS store and then buy a subscription on there. However I bought a 12 Month Subscription card which does just activate your PS Plus subscription.

  • +2

So this is the standard price for PS Plus with a game thrown in? I don't own this game or have an active PS Plus, it still doesn't inspire me to buy it since everyone pretty much says the game is rubbish.

Need a lower price for me, not free content. Thanks anyway.

  • I recently bought a PS4 but on a thought of only playing a lot of games and JRPGs that only launched and will be launched only for PS4 (eg. Persona 5, World of FF) because I feel like Xbox Live still offers a better value (from back compat to multiplayer). Plus Im not interested in Battlefield Starwars.

  • How are the ps4 servers? I can't seem to find any matches for Star Wars Battlefront when I try to play on the xbox one :(

  • Such BS, i got the regular version of Star Wars Battlefront. I can never purchase the Ultimate Edition because i already own the base game, the upgrade pack is just as expensive as the Ultimate Edition and i just miss out on this 'deal' by 9 days when my sub expires soon after this promotion.

Way to give the middle finger to your existing customer base.

  • +1

So I'm a freshly minted PS4 owner and my PS4 junkie friends assert that the PSPlus membership is the go for online gaming, so a membership for me is a given. I figure that $70/year is better than $10/mo or $28 for 3 months. So I figured I'd sign-up. Problem is: I can't complete the transaction - I just get a modal dialog stating "Your purchase may not be complete. Check your transaction history in your Account settings."

Anyone seen this and/or able to indicate what I need to do? I've disabled my adblocker and reloaded, etc. Trying to use PayPal payment method.

I tried switching to direct creditcard payment, but now I seem to get into a reload loop.

Anyhow - I guess this is one for Sony support - just wondering if there's someone with more experience of this weirdness.

    • Had the same problem previously, Sony has this garbage website that only works for some people. Interestingly, if you try to buy something via the console it would work 100% of the time..

Or just buy prepaid psn credit through jbhifi online and use that to purchase

    • I haven't seen that error before, but like it said the transaction should show up in your history if it was completed. You can check on your PS4 under Settings > PlayStation Network/Account Management > Account Information > PlayStation Subscriptions. Or go to Account Management and look under Account > Transaction History.

Don't forget to redeem your "free" games every month. If you do it on the webstore you can also pick up the PS3 and Vita games in case you ever get one of those.

    • I used credit card and you need to go to your account to enable auto-payment option selected. Then, it went well for me.

  • I currently don't have an active PS Plus subscription on my account but it wont let me purchase this. It says because I already own PS Plus. Is this only for people who have never had a PS Plus sub before…?

  • I have no interest in star wars. is the game code tied to my email? I would rather sell it

    • The T&Cs suggest the codes can be used on any account:

Note that Eligible Persons who already have the STAR WARS™ Battlefront™ Ultimate Edition game on an account will not be able to download it again to the same account however they may use the Voucher Code to download the game to any other account that they have.

      But also:

Voucher Codes are not transferable and may not be re-sold.

  • How do I get this deal?

My sub expired yesterday, but when I click on the link in the OP it shows "unavailable for purchase"

    • Did you click on the "Tell me more" button to see why?

      • I was doing it from the website.

I did it on the PS4 just now and it tells me I'm a member until. June 2nd, which is weird because I got an email from Sony last week saying "Your auto-renew feature is turned off, so your subscription will end on 31.05.2017 unless you turn it on. Flick that switch and make sure PS Plus continues to power up your PS4 experience!"

Oh well, I guess I'll try again in a couple of days.

        • I was doing it from the website.

That is exactly where the "Tell me more" button is to use.
If you had clicked on it, it would have said that your PS+ sub is still active, I tested it yesterday when you posted the question.

        • @snuke:

Yeah it didn't tell me when my sub expired on the website, at least on my phone. On the PS4 it told me the expiry date, which was 2 days later than it said it would expire in the email I got :)

All good now anyway, was able to subscribe using the link in the OP this morning.

        • +1

          @snuke:

Just FYI it says the same thing if your subscription has only recently expired. You have to sign out first for it to realise that you don't have a subscription. So seeing that message doesn't necessarily mean your subscription is still active.

        • @clarkey:

          Thanks, good to know.

    • Follow the steps Hoolio posted earlier.

  • I'm on the fence with updating my subscription to PSPlus as I hardly play any PS4 games online, nor am I interest in any free games they have to offer.

    However, this could change things……

  • Damn, my PS Pus expires 3 days after the promotion ends, anyone got a suggestion as to how I can still get the deal?

  • Can anyone confirm if this is still active? I can only buy the "Playstation Plus: 12 Month Membership Days of Play". There's no mention of Battlefront Ultimate…

    • The T&Cs said the link would stop working when they run out of codes, so it looks like the deal has finished. Considering the free game has been as low as $20 (and will likely go lower as it's on the way out), I'd say the 30% off deal is just as good.

  • Yeah i think is expired? Its not showing up at all now..
