Of course I waited week for 10% but caved last night and made the purchase at 7%….

  • Whats the deal with cashrewards? is it like a credit card or?

    • +1

CashRewards is essentially a cashback service. When making online purchases you first go through the CashRewards page and use their link to reach the store (AliExpress / Ebay etc), and it will track your purchases. You then get a percentage cashback in your CashRewards account (after a month or so), which you can deposit into your bank account.

If you are getting started, be sure to use the referral link above to get $5 free after your first tracked purchase. I also recommend the CashRewards plugin which will alert you when a cashback is available.

The best part is the cashback can stack with other discounts. Highly recommended - I've saved 100's of dollars from the site.

Is that you Schapelle? Welcome back to Straya.

Just asking a genuine question, I've seen it before but never used anything like it.

        • Safe to say, just an extra minute of your time at no risk involved to you getting cash back.
Sometimes tracking doesnt work or it was late, and money is available a few months later but it all adds up in the end.

  • Damn, just bought $200 worth of stuff two days ago!

    • What would you have done with the extra $6?

      • +2

Cashed it out and played the pokies with it. Serious.

        • In that case then all good, only the casino/club lost $6, they'll live.

  • Aliexpress seems to be the most expensive for 3d printers

What do you guys/gals normally buy from Ali Express? I don't understand the platform too well.

    • +2

for me its usually things like cables or cheap kids toys etc that i might normally buy on ebay but am prepared to wait 5-6weeks shipping in order to get it cheaper…..

There is a website dedicated to this - AliHolic
Also just found this - Aliexpress Bestselling

          This is so handy, thanks.

        • Be careful with AliHoc as they're using affiliate links and if you click on the products the commission may go to them instead of Cashrewards resulting in no cashback.

Chargers, cables, phone cases / holders, small gadgets etc.. it's actually pretty cool just browsing Aliexpress.

For a second I thought you meant THESE dolls. Plenty to choose from here too.

I've been buying tonnes of stuff off their the past 2 months. Kids toys, some clothes (though you really need to check reviews for clothes), tools etc

Phones. You can buy a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X for $171 AUD delivered after cashback. That's insanely cheap for a phone which is on par with a Moto or Xperia X.

    • It used to be the little brother of Alibaba.com which was for buying wholesale from China. Buy anything so long as you order a million of them.

The idea was for bulk buying, a few hundred USB cables or components or whatever.

A few years back it changed into Chinese eBay and the 'low scale wholesale' has been toned down (which is a bit annoying for some). But yeah, anything to cane get on eBay will be on AliExpress, often a little cheaper as well.

AliExpress started out in 2010 doing mainly B2B but became more consumer focused shortly afterwards. I've been buying from them since 2011 and before that Alibaba which also offered smaller quantities and still does but you deal direct with the manufacturer generally whereas on AliExpress it's mainly a retailer.

The idea was for bulk buying, a few hundred USB cables or components or whatever.

Not really, plenty of items were available in small quantities.

It's the international version of Taobao which is Chinese only and always has been.

If you want large quantities you can buy them by contacting the larger sellers or using Alibaba which is for that purpose.

        • The focus has switched. Back when it was the little man's wholesale site the search options included "Min\Max quantity" and "Price per piece".

That is, you could say "Show me the cheaper per item from people selling between 500 and 1000 pieces". That's gone; if you're catering to the retail crowd you don't need it, but you do when buying components like LEDs and so on.

Now it's women's fashion, bizarre sex toys (don't ask) and the yearly 11.11 sham.

(And yes, I've been buying from AliExpress since it started, Alibaba was a bit much. I wonder if the forums will ever come back.)

Aliexpress are apparently reducing the value of their partnership programme (cash-back) commencing June 1. I wonder if this will impact Cashrewards?

Of course it will, they can't pay out if they're not getting paid. If AliExpress halve the rate to cashrewards they will halve it to us.

  • Time for more vape supplies yeee buddy

  • Has anyone ever had an issue with using those in-store coupons ($2 off, $10 off X spend, etc.) in conjunction with cashback? TA tells me there's not been any reported problems, so just wanted to check if anyone has actually tried.

    • +1

      No issues here.

  • I have started using cashrewards only recently, few small purchases it worked fine with Aliexpress, then I tried to use it on a large purchase ($300) on 6th may, and it didnt register as any cashback even though I follow the steps to a T, and the exact same steps I follow for $2 purchases.

I raised a claim #71476 with cashrewards and ive heard nothing since. Not entirely happy considering it magically worked for many small purchases..

    • +1

I did a $700 purchase with them a fortnight ago and worked fine and the cashback amount is credited against my account awaiting the cooling off period. Never had an issue with them on large purchases…

  • When does deal expire?

    • See incredibly clear point (?) 2 spaces above :-)

  • That should offset the 10% GST coming in a month's time.

    Thanks Gerry!
