5 working days delivery from the UK, that's pretty damn good.

    • I actually received mine today, so it's 5 days including the day I ordered! Amazing. Watching videos on Youtube for how to wire it all up now :)

  • fantastic seller I got this from the 5% discount item were shipped immediately and in working order

    • I get about 18 hours running off the battery in park record mode

      • off the car battery?
        Did you wire it up

        • Yep, off the car battery.
I didn't bother getting the aftermarket b battery - driving recharges

        • @yoyomablue:
so your car battery got drained in 18 hours?

          @neikel:

so your car battery got drained in 18 hours?

Yeah that is what he meant when he said he gets 18 hours out of the parking mode… he clearly calls for a jump start each time he returns to the car.

Or maybe it's because it turns off before the battery is discharged.

@neikel: No, I use the low voltage cutoff feature. Cuts off at 12.1V (you can go down to 11.8)

        • @yoyomablue:
thanks for sharing that. I didn't know that it had that built in feature. Must make sure I set it up too.

  • ignore. I forgot to subtract VAT.

    • just bought at £212.50 + £13.62 delivery, so they refund VAT upon delivery? how does that work?!

      • +1

Just ask them for the 20% VAT refund when it arrives
I got my refund on the day i advised them

        • Thx =)

        • Sweet, got it delivered this morning. Messaged them not long ago and got the refund within an hour. Thanks for the OP.

        • @Ultraman: Make sure you run the cable that connects to the rear camera BEHIND the curtain airbag.

        • @yoyomablue: Thumbs up. Should I disconnect the car battery too? One video said to do that to prevent them from accidentally going off.

        • +1

@Ultraman: can airbags go off without the car being powered on? That doesn't make sense. I just didn't have the car powered on. If you're worried, just remove the side airbag fuse rather than disconnecting the battery otherwise you have the hassle of having to reset your stereo system.
On a separate note, if you have a hatchback, you might find it pretty difficult/impossible to run the cable through the waterproof trunking that's used for existing wiring (as it was purpose designed). You can bypass this & you'll only end up with a little bit of exposed camera cable at the rear window, which you don't notice when driving anyway. I did both my hatchbacks this way.

        • @yoyomablue: Airbag fuse removal sounds much better than doing the battery. I'll see how I go with my Hyundai. Thx yoyomablue.

All manufacturers recommend that you disconnect the battery and wait (time depends on age of car, newer cars around 5 minutes and older cars up to 30 minutes for the capacitors to discharge) before working near the airbags.

It's not just the airbags you need to worry about it's things like seat belt pyrotechnics and other safety systems. Airbag deployment when you are in close proximity to them like you would be doing when running cable etc will likely result in death or serious injury.

Plenty of thieves have been killed stealing airbags that they thought was safe as the ignition was off. Look on YouTube for videos on "static electricity airbag"

On a separate note, if you have a hatchback, you might find it pretty difficult/impossible to run the cable through the waterproof trunking that's used for existing wiring (as it was purpose designed).

Running the cabling inside is easy. Use a large cable tie as a draw wire.

        • @Maverick-au: the USB plug is what makes feeding it through the trunking difficult, & in some cases impossible

        • @yoyomablue:

the USB plug is what makes feeding it through the trunking difficult, & in some cases impossible

Cut the plastic corners off on a 45 degree angle, use a large cable tie as a draw wire and lubricate the inside of the conduit.

I installed mine last week and my conduits were full from previously added cabling and it was straightforward.

  • Will be interesting to see what new features the F800 brings when it is introduced. The little bit I heard sounds very interesting. Meanwhile, I'm waiting for my F770 delivery. Got mine in the 10% off promotion that ended Wednesday but still a good deal even though this one is better.

    • You can find F800's new features mentioned here: http://dashcamlife.com/thinkware-f800-air-dash-cam-review/

But most of the new features will require WiFi to work.

Maybe it has its own 4G SIM??
Elon Musk said he is considering turning Tesla's autonomous driving cameras into a 360 surround dashcam service that uploads to the cloud
Would be nice to coincide with the arrival of my Model 3 next year!

        • "Maybe it has its own 4G SIM??"

I'd be nervous about any internet connected vehicle to make sure that the connection is 100% isolated from at of the vehicle's computer systems. If the same camera system is being used for driving control, that's not isolated.

      • "You can find F800's new features mentioned here:…."

Thanks for that. It sounds that mostly there are a few new features rather than any leaps in the actual recorded image. It will be interesting to see what price point it comes out at.
