Which Mattress to Go for?

I am so confused which mattress to go for, there are so many options, all claiming to be the best

1) https://au.koala.com/

2) http://www.ecosa.com.au/

3) https://sleeprepublic.com.au/

4) https://www.sleepingduck.com

5) https://www.ergoflex.com.au

All of them have free shipping, min $100 discount and 90 - 100 nights sleep guarantee.

Can anyone who has any of these mattresses, or had got one in the past and returned it please comment on the thread.

We need 1 king and 2 queen mattresses.

Thanks for your time.

    https://lazybed.com.au/ offer $350 OFF with coupon PRE350.
Don't know how it compares with the other you've mention.
I'm interested too, if anyone have any experience with any of these foam mattress.

    • Thanks, will check that out as well.

Have used a lazy bed. Very soft, so maybe not the best choice if you like a firmer mattress. I also found I got really hot, even on cooler nights. We ended up returning it. But the lazy bed after sales were great, and had the mattress picked up and refunded within a week.

    • Have a Lazybed (Queen Size). It's firm and supportive. Would definitely recommend it. Take advantage of their free trial period, then just return it if it doesn't suit you.

We bought a koala mattress about a year ago.
Best decision ever. The sleep I have been getting ever since has been second to none.
I can't recommend it highly enough. Worth it.
    Affordable
Delivered to your home within 2-3 hours if you live in a major city.
sleep garauntee (they pick it up free if you don't like it)

They should be high on your list.

    • thanks, I did check on the koala as the Fb ads are all over. How is the mattress, too firm? or too soft? Unfortunately, all these places do not have a store in AU, like forty winks, where we can try the bed.

Feel like its too much work, sending the mattress. So how do they fold it, once it's out of the box, they deal with it entirely?

i have a Koala mattress, its a little on the soft side. My partner whos 100kg+ and he says its too soft for him but still OK to sleep on, we put it on bed slats.

        i love it tho :)

I Am a big guy and it's perfect for me.
I would say medium firm is the best description.

I know some will say don't buy until u lie on one first but there is a massive difference in price.
Koala charge nothing when compared to ones in store and they will pick it up at no cost if you are unhappy.
I recommend giving them a go.

One thing that stops me is I have zero room to keep the old mattress for the trial period. So that would mean potentially risking it and selling/dumping my old one when I get the new one or paying to transport it and store it somewhere and bringing it back, in case I don't like the new mattress.

If I do like the mattress and want to keep it, I still then have to deal with getting rid of the old mattress after storing it "just in case"!

I wouldn't buy a mattress without laying on it first. I know these stores all offer free returns/sleep guarantee but you spend a third of your life in bed, I definitely want to test it out first. Sure I could order a bed online and it might turn out fine, but there could have been another mattress which is so much better.

What are you laying? Eggs? :p

Unless you lie on it in the shop for ages (hours), the free trials should be superior in theory, right? They are just hoping you forget or can't be bothered returning it I suppose.

Personally I have been on the fence to get one for ages, but I am very wary of how new these companies are and whether they would be around in the coming years, the extremely positive reviews and warnings from other people about the basic physical properties of foam that would indicate it will not last as long as a traditional mattress in general. But if it lasted only 5 years, that would be pretty good, right?

Make sure you don't get a mattress that self inflates (they come in a box) - we have one and its just not firm enough, doesn't hold its shape well. I'd suggest you look for a factory outlet store near you that you can go and try the mattress, every one of them is different it should be something you try. Also - mattress makers are bastards, they vary every product so you cannot pricematch between them. Good luck out there!

Just try a good quality FULL latex matress, but shop around .. there is a lot of difference in price.

We got a sleeping duck Queen mattress and base about April last year. they have a 100 day warranty. During that time they sent us a softer insert free of charge because we were coming off a water bed. Also for the first few months, as we were coming off the water bed the regular mattress was VERY hot. They offered to give us a refund on several occasions but we opted to stay with it as it was and still is VERY comfortable. After a few months we acclimatised and now it is just right. That shouldn't be an issue if you are coming off a regular bed. The company were very proactive over the 100 days making several calls to see how we were going. They use a SS spring base with foam, memory foam/latex whatever top part which is only about 6-7cm think at a guess. So not sure what else to tell you, our biggest concern was that coming from a waterbed this one would be too hard but it wasn't, neither is it too soft. If you do find it too much either way they will send you a firmer/softer inner bit free of charge. Would definately buy another one.

    We have 3 medium/firm Ikea mattresses (double / queen and 180 x 200). http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/70244448/#/602444…

We are happy with all 3. Ikea will let you exchange your mattress within 365 days if you wish to try another, but I would suggest a mattress topper to ensure they will accept the return.

Bought a Sleeping Duck queen mattress about 3 years ago.
    - excellent customer service. really top notch and very personal (phone calls from the owner to see how it was going)
    - bed was very comfortable but a touch too soft for me - I went for the soft-medium option but I suspect this might be fine for you as you are coming from a waterbed while I was coming from a very firm double bed spring mattress

As many people have said above, you get 90-100 days to try it and free pickup if you dont want it. Bear in mind if you decide you dont like it then it gets donated to charity e.g. Salvos

Would hihgly recommend Sleeping Duck! check out their reviews on ProductReview

Have ergoflex. Pretty good for back sleeping. Side sleeping i find it not comfortable for shoulder area as a touch too firm. With a mattress topper it would be fine though.

At age 63 the best mattress I've had yet is my current setup, a cheap fairly firm innerspring that came with the bed, for support, topped with a $165 8cm gel memory foam overlay from ebay for comfort. Don't waste your money on anything fancy, they haven't changed that much in decades.

  • Thanks guys. From the comments look like all of these are really good.

And even the non inflatable types are good

So it basically comes down to persoval preference I guess.

  • You can at least try Sleeping Duck and Ecosa in person, I personally found Ecosa to be EXTREMELY hard. Sleeping Duck suited me better, it was still firm but more like firm clouds as opposed to firm concrete. Since you can return them all just buy three different ones :)

    • how do I try in person?

  • Well all of the ones you mentioned are great mattresses. What I would suggest you do is first ask yourself what time of sleeper are you? Do you sleep on your side? Back? or are you a stomach sleeper?

Depending on which position you sleep mostly on would tell you what type of firmness is best for you. So for example, if you sleep on your side, you should have a softer mattress. If you sleep on your back you should have bit firmer. You should check topmattress.com they do a good job on explaining all of this. Bit confusing but hey, better to do your research then be sorry later.
