Great mouse at a great price but keep in mind these are rechargeable, not battery operated. If its only going to see occasional use you may be better of with a battery operated mouse, some of which last 6-12 mths these days. It was a pain pulling this out of the laptop bag every couple of weeks to find i needed to plug it in to charge.

Yeah, previous versions of this mouse running on AAs was great. Even worked with 1x AA only, if you were in a pinch!

Would consider grabbing one if they were still run on AAs, but I personally have little use for a mobile mouse these days.

It's an awesome portable mouse though, if you need one for your laptop bag! Would definitely get one if I had a laptop for work, for example.

Great mouse at a great price but keep in mind these are rechargeable, not battery operated.

Do you realise that there is a battery powering these so they are both battery powered. I suspect you mean one is fixed and the other removable.

You must be doing something wrong, I've never had this problem with this mouse.

I charge mine every few months. Sometimes it gets used upto 15 hours a day. Sometimes it gets used once a week.

Never had this problem. May be try switching it off when putting it away?

      • +2

I thought i'd made this clear by saying it's rechargeable but my bad if this wasn't obvious.

My comment was my experience based on my usage habits. I used my laptop only on occasion and just chucked the mouse back in my laptop bag without remebering to turn it off. Just found it painful to pull it out after a while to find it needed a charge.

Dont get me wrong, this is a great mouse. Anyone using it regularly and is vigilant in turning it off wont find a better portable mouse IMO. Just a note to those that will use it like I did, this wont last 6-12months on a charge if you use use it like I do.

        • I've had this mouse for little over a month now and straight out of the box (no charging) it lasted me 3 weeks of heavy use (at least 10hrs a day).

I leave my 2.4GHZ wireless USB on my work computer then I come home press 1 button and less than a second it's connected to my personal computer via Bluetooth. Fast scroll mouse has been fun as well 🙂.
After 1 week of use, this has the be the best computer product I've ever purchased. Yes I paid $59 at JB hifi from one of these OB deals but I would easily pay $100 given the difference It's made to my life.

I have this mouse too and it's pretty good. I must ask though what is the little battery looking thing in the box for? I had to take apart the mouse cos it wouldn't work for a while and I can't see anywhere else to put it

    • +1

Yeah, I've own 3 MX and 1 MX2. The removeable battery powered ones last so much longer. The MX2 rechargeable just dies without any warning and lasts a couple weeks. Just have to remember to charge it periodically.

      • Doesn't it have a red LED on the side that glows on when getting near empty?

        • Yes, it does, but it just goes green to dead on the MX2, happened most/all times so far. The MX will die slower and the red hangs around a bit.

    • +2

i've got one, i use it maybe once a week, and charge it every 6 months or so - the beauty is that the cable (micro-usb) connects to where a normal cord would so you can keep using it while it's charging.

maybe try turning it off when you put it in your bag, there's a switch on the bottom!

This mouse for portability that you can bring when you are traveling

      • +1

Haven't used this but I can vouch for the Master. Great mouse. Also no issue getting it in a laptop bag, however if I travelled frequently I'd probably grab both.

Worth noting there's new models of each mouse as of this week, however the differences aren't massive.

        • i just need something to replace my performance mx. the double click issue keeps coming back after trying to fix it

        • @gbones: Horses for courses, but the master will be physically closer to the performance mx
I'd only go for the anywhere if portability was super important.

        • where is the introduction for new models? cant find any.

        • +2

          @aec: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/06/logitech-mx-master-2…
Looks like all that's changed is new colours, support for flow and a slightly improved sensor

    • I use this one with my laptop and the master at home with the desktop, it's a bit too big and cumbersome to fit comfortably in my laptop bag.

    • +1

Have both. Mx master makes my palm sweaty maybe because my hands are small and therefore I have to grab the mouse with the whole palm. I prefer MX Anywhere.

  • Enjoy using this mouse. Good buy,but might not fit perfectly for those with big hands.

  • +5

The very best portable mouse for general and gaming usage. Love mine to bits with pairing up to 3 devices between your laptop, tablet and phone.

    • +1

Also works on my glass table which I consider pretty handy!

    • Your phone support mice?

      • Yeah, mine does. I use my MX Master on my phone at work whenever I use Continuum on my Windows Phone (which is very rarely).

      • Yep. Almost all Android phones and tablets support Mice. I also have a Lumia 950XL as well

      • I use my Lumia 950xl in landscape mode at conferences with the MX anywhere 2 and MS Bluetooth keyboard for taking down notes using One Note and Word.

        • Good to know. It still sounds wired to use a phone with a mouse. An S pen like stylus would be more useful if I want to take note.

  • 25% cashback? that's awesome.

  • Does this mouse have a normal middle click or is that reserved for the switch between the two scrolling modes?

    • I have the Anywhere 1 mouse and it does not have a middle click. Very annoying for games.

      • Set the sideways push of the scroll wheel to middle click, I find that far better than a regular push down to click wheel anyway.

    • +2

It does have middle click, but not on the scroll wheel. Clicking the scroll wheel does switch between modes. There is a button directly below the scroll wheel that functions as the middle click. If you click through the deal you will see the button clearly in the images. It is well positioned and easy enough to move your finger down to use. Doesn't take long to get used to. I find the only time I even notice the difference is when switching between using this mouse and another. Takes a few minutes every time time I switch before I stop noticing. That may just be me however, as my primary pointing device is a trackball. Using any mouse feels somewhat foreign and a little frustrating to me. As such obviously YMMV.

      • Thanks guys, i'm never going to get used to not having a middle click so i'll give it a miss. Cheers.

    • +1

Looks like it's still used to toggle scroll mode :/

I was thinking about grabbing one, thanks for bringing that up

    • +1

It has a middle button just below the wheel which I use as the middle button (its the default setting IIRC). Got used to it pretty quick and I actually prefer it to using the wheel nowadays

  • +1

Great mouse. I have one for my work PC, but for some reason I could never get its Bluetooth to pair with my MacBook. Probably holding it wrong.

  • +10

The new version of this has just been released overseas. MX Anywhere 2S

    • and the mx master 2S

    • +1

Thanks for the heads up. I'm liking how the Logitech Flow works between multiple computers.

  • Certainly tempting. Not sure if I should hold off and wait for the MX Anywhere 2 though, although it'll be a while until that one gets to this price anyway…

  • I've gone through 4 of these in the last 5 years. The left and right click buttons start breaking within one year of moderate use.

Single click will double click (very annoying), sometimes a click will not register, drag and drop won't work.

I really like the design and ergonomics of the mouse and that it works on all surfaces, but this issue means I need to replace it every year or so.

Luckily there are offers and I've been able to buy one for $40-50 every time.

edit: i have the model with 2 AA batteries

    • +2

I had that same double click issue with the original MX Anywhere.

I believe it was fixed for the Anywhere 2, and having used one for the past 6 months I haven't seen the issue crop out. Definitely worth the upgrade for that alone.

      • Good to know. I'll try the anywhere 2 once my current one starts breaking :P

  • +1

Just bought one - great value!

I've been using version 1 of this mouse for years with my laptop, and it's performed faultlessly.

Does anyone have any idea where it's possible to buy extra Unifying Receivers ?

I'm planning to use this with two HTPCs in my loungeroom - it's pretty unobtrusive!

EDIT: Just found this on Ebay - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Logitech-USB-Dongle-Unifying-Rece…

And there are even cheaper ones - described as "genuine".

However, Umart sells the genuine one for $29.00.

Any thoughts? There's not that much to go wrong!

    • It's bluetooth as well, so a cheap BT dongle should do (if the HTPC doesn't have BT already).

  • +1

Just picked one up in store, cheers

Wasn't advertised or showing with any special labels, shelf price $128…oh dear god don't tell me people actually would pay that for this mouse

  • This or the MX mouse? i dont travel so it wouldnt leave home

    • Go for the MX Master mouse for home use - it's extremely comfortable for long-term use, fits the hand really well.

The Anywhere is a great mouse too - but a bit small for constant use.

I use both, and I wouldn't be without either of them.

  • what gaming mouse would you recommend, people?

  • +1

I have 2 of these mice, both came with unifying receivers. After years of use I've had to replace the micro switch in the left button on both of them. Cheap and easy job. I would recommend.

  • +1

Use this at work everyday. Love it. Be aware the Bluetooth 4.1 does not work with Windows 7. I have to use the USB dongle.
[EDIT] Sorry I've got the MX Master.

great mouse, just picked up a white one, it also supports up to 3 devices!
