  • Link is wrong for Logitech MX.

    • That was weird it went to MX then changed so thanks :)

      • It had Dlink in the address as a search term for some reason.

  • Thanks OP! just in time when my old faithful mouse stopped working

    • Mine has had the infamous double click issue that I initially solved with sticky tape using the 60 second YouTube video. But it's doing it again now. I'm wondering if there is a better solution or whether it's time to buy a new one.

I'm seriously considering the hisense though.

      • +10

I don't think the Hisense will double click either.

      • I have the double click issue too, we've had four of the mice in our house and every one has ended up with it. Tape solved it for a while but not anymore. I love everything else about the mouse so I'm willing to keep replacing it every few years.

I almost spent $65 buying one from ebay yesterday so I'm happy I held out.

Only way to permanently fix a mouse button double clicking is to open the switch and adjust the spring: http://www.instructables.com/id/Repair-mouse-with-double-cli…

Had to do this to a Razer Deathadder that was a replacement for another Deathadder that double clicked as well. Replacement was out of warranty so I had nothing to lose. It's pretty easy, the hardest part was getting the spring back in as it is fiddly. Took 15 minutes all up.

        • Thanks! Might have to try that - I still have my original Anywhere MX. In theory you can buy a new switch for about $5-10 and replace the entire thing, but that requires soldering.

In the meantime, my Anywhere MX 2 has a similar issue, but the problem is wireless interference, which unfortunately can't be fixed so easily!

      • +1

Haven't had that issue with version 2. One of my original MX Anywhere did.

        • Exactly the same experience here. There was tear down somewhere comparing the original MX Anywhere and Ver. 2 and it appears that Logitech was aware of the issue and fixed it. The Ver 2 also uses different mechanical switches, so probably safe to buy it. The best mouse I owned, BTW.

I remember in the early 2000's when mouse's were made from mouce balls
This deal is too good not to buy Californication .

Anyone know how long the sale is on? Thinking of getting woolworths gift cards via cash rewards to then buy jb hifi gift cards in store. That would be another 5%

    • it says it ends 3rd May.

Has anybody actually managed to get a Hisense tv to record/playback files to/from an external Hard Drive? If so, could you point me to the info/link, please.

    • +1

I bought the 55 inch model at Easter and mine has played files off a usb stick and external hdd no probs. Didn't have to do anything special. The only exception (not surprisingly) was a drive formatted on an apple

      • Ext filesystem
No TV will read that (some may but i doubt it )

There's only one scorpion king, so no point in getting the box set

    • I can't believe they made 3 more. The first one was bad enough.

  • Just need a Bluetooth mouse for my new surface pro.

  • -1

Good price on the tv and further 7 - 10% off if you have access to a rewards program with discounted gift cards

    • 7-10% off?

      • +1

Yeah i get 7.5% off on egift cards from my work

Whatever the opposite of nostalgia is these 90s coloured mice give me it. Horrible flashbacks to when mice had balls.

      • +1

I do miss having to clean the gunk out every once in a while. It was cathartic… akin to sharpening your axe.

Now, I've resorted to cleaning the gunk off the teflon pads :)

        • +4

It's just not the same. The ritual of twisting the plastic that held the ball in, then removing it, using methylated spirits to give it a good clean followed by the wheel things inside. Then putting it all back together and being blown away by how smooth it was afterwards. Good times.

You really sound like you enjoy cleaning balls.

        • +2

          @cnut:

I used to hate the first gen optical mice as you couldn't do a 180 jump spin in cs as it would just lose the tracking (and I used really low sensitivity). The ball mice kept the ball spinning while I lifted ^^

    • Surely I can't be the first one to think that you had inadvertently made a typo of "in store"? Wish I could come up with a clever pun for it.

Make sure you check amazon for box set prices.
Bond 50 :Celebrating 5 Decades of Bond https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006U1JD5G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_o8ta…

Is only a couple of dollars more for a 50 year special edition with the same films.

Soo tempted by the HiSense TV!

    • Yeah. 50inch is prob the best size for me.

      • +2

        Is that what she said?

    • Now or never, I think they're discontinuing them.

      • Is a new series coming out?

  • Any advice on HP laptop? I am not much familiar. Looking to buy one today.

  • Ye gads, there were FOUR Scorpion King movies?

  • My god. Gone with the wind collectors for only $20… jesus so cheap.

  • Also their 70" and 75" Hisense are back to a bargain price!

  • Also C20TEK around $800 delivered for those who do not have JB coupon and prefer not to pay extra for shiping:

  • Is it the mx anywhere 2 comes with receiver? If I have bluetooth do I need to use the receiver?

    • Not required to use receiver if connecting via Bluetooth

  • Need a new laptop, can anyone recommend this HP?

    • If you have a work email address then just call find the laptop you want on the HP website, call HP Australia and ask for the corporate pricing. They generally provide between 30-40% on all of their laptops.

      • Really? I have never found corp prices with hp, Canon etc to be better than a retail deal.

        • I got the top of the range Spectre X360 13" laptop for 30% off. Plus this compounds any other offer that they have on (I got a $250 visa card). So It was effectively $2000 instead of $3400. Then I got to salary sacrifice it so got it for $1000.

        • @carleast:
That's pretty good. When ever I look it's either poor models or not as good as a retail sale.
Canon especially are a heap more expensive than say JB normal price.

  • Thanks for this OP. I told my friend who was not tech savvy and had a budget of $1k to get the 50" Hisense.

Good guys were trying to sell her a Hisense 50N4 and said that this was the latest model and better than the 50" ULED TV at JB.

She is very happy with her purchase and also glad that she saved $200!

    All thanks to you OP!

    • Doesn't sound like they are "good guys" after all!

  • Tossing between the HiSense

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/hd-televisio…

    and the Samsung

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/hd-televisio…

Samsung is lighter but smaller whilst the HiSense is twice heavier but has a bigger screen.
Planning to hook it on the wall using a Full Motion bracket. Is the HiSense too heavy for this kind of set-up?

    • That's a massive screen size difference. Choose the size you want.
Our old plasma is 42inch I would go smaller to a 40inch. (unless it's a tiny room you have)

  • The refresh rate of the Hisense tv is only 50hz, for those who bought it previously, is it ok for watching sports, specifically AFL with such a low refresh rate?

  • Bought the Logitech MX anywhere 2 from Jb Hifi Thanks OP! Yes I could've price matched Officeworks to get 5% off but it would cost me more effort and petrol to get to officeworks. Have to say the mouse works flawlessly!! Probably the best computer related item i've purchased alongside my 8GB/256GB surface pro 2 power cover for $70 :D

    • Yes I could've price matched Officeworks to get 5% off but it would cost me more effort and petrol to get to officeworks

Are you sure OW have it I couldn't find it on their web site.

  • i rushed off the grab the logitech MX as well. not recommended for anyone who does drafting or 3d modelling - pressing the scroll button doesn't mean centre click - which is a must for panning when zooming/panning around is needed. I have tried to reset buttons through the program "Logitech Options" but with no luck. back to my old mouse and will use this new one at home maybe.

    • There's a mouse wheel click which toggles the scroll "texture" but there's also the "gesture" button directly behind that (mapped to app switcher by default), which you can remap to whatever you like using the Logitech Tools. Does that not do what you want?

      • yes I did remap that button for centre-click, and it works, but i am so used to zomming in/out with scroll wheel and panning by clicking down that is feels unnatural to shift my finger down to find the other button. I am sure with practice I would get used to it, but can't afford the time for learning at the minute!

  • How is the battery life with the MX anywhere 2? It claimed 2 months on the box can it really do 2 months?

    • yeah, I can vouch for that. I use it for work around 8 hours a day and that figure seems about right. I do switch it off at night though. Can't say if that would be true if you were using a desktop and left it on 24/7.

  • That sucks, was going to get the TV and as of 10.50 wa time its gone back up to full price :/
